My family calls these “Irish Potatoes.” We used to buy them from a local bakery for St. Patrick’s Day. They’d be little potato shapes rolled in cinnamon. It was always a treat I looked forward to each year!

Irish Potatoes and Potato Candy are two completely different candies. People confuse them two all the time, though, as they both have 'potato' in the name. But the name is where the similarities end.

WOW 😯 that’s pretty cool I had never heard of such a thing. And yes you are right almost skipped over video because it said potato candy lol. Glad I chose to watch it instead. Thanks, Sam

I've been looking for a recipe like this. My girls use to belong to a 4-H club where they made Easter eggs. The recipe had mashed potato flakes. When I was a young girl my mom made doughnuts with mashed potato and they were so delicious.

My mom also made sort of the same thing . But some she added PB to and some she would add coconut and then dip them in Dark chocolate. Thx for the remind. Looks delicious

My wife makes this from her grandmother’s recipe. Only it doesn’t have butter in it, just potato, powdered sugar, vanilla, and peanut butter.

I'm 70 years old and I remember my grandmother making these when I was growing up. The only problem with making these is as soon as you try one, you will eat another one and another one.....so make extra. I was going to surprise my daughter with a batch of these for Christmas but time got away from me.
@SugarSpunRun10 ай бұрын
You are right, you definitely need extra. They are so good!

Sam, I had a friend's mom that used cocoa powder in the potato part....never got a chance to ask how she did it(maybe you could try it?)

I don't like potato. I have an aversion to mashed potato especially but I thought I'd try watching, I got to 40 seconds before I had to stop. I'm proud of myself today!

A neighbor of my Grams made this in the 60s and 70s. We luved it but is very sweet It was funny that only a small amt of potato actually is used. I made it for my kids. Less sweet.

I've been looking at this recipe for awhile. Haven't made it because it seems like the sugar would overwhelm the peanut butter flavor and you'd only taste sugar. Most of the recipes for this don't have any butter but yours has a whole stick of it. Are you using the butter to cut the sweet?

I bet if you put green food coloring and add some peppermint extract, you could make it into Christmas candy. The options are endless.....
