I've just bought a Canyon Endurace 7 - alloy frame, carbon forks, Shimano 105 groupset. Wow! I've had Specialized for years - but this bike is amazing, and not as expensive as I'd expected.

🔥 Thank You for calling out this problem. In USA, I can buy any Disc Brake mtb for under $200 in Walmart. But if I want the same cheap (Tektro Disc Brake) on roadbike, I must paid $1200 for the latest 2023 Specialized Allez with SAME Tektro brake. This is just STUPID!
@Millicente6 ай бұрын
You really compared a walmart bike to specialized. Picked the cheapest you could get in terms of brands to the most expensive. What are you going to compare next? Amazon basic to Prada?

Ive had a CF Di2 Endurace for about 2 years, 8500 miles on it and its been great! Perfect bike for me. So I thought for my first E Mt bike I'll get another Canyon. A Spectral ON CF8, it has also been brilliant! Can really romp on the thing over huge rocks and ditches and what ever and it sucks it all up. The 900WH battery means never having to have battery envy, no constant worry about getting hung out to dry with a dead battery. Almost every other E biker I ride with is for ever worrying about their battery, then we get back to truck and they have 3 bars showing. The small battery/small motor/light e bikes are the ones to worry on, they rarely finish a ride with a live battery. The more I ride it, the better trail systems I take it to, the more addicting it is. But I still ride my roadbikes, 130 to 200 miles a week in the group rides around here. The E bike is just plain for fun! (most roadbikers all but spit nails if E bikes are mentioned, the hatred is very thick)

Great review ! Road bike prices are crazy high - Apparently a carbon fork (made in Asia) on a road bike, costs more than than a high end Fox Suspension fork 🤣

I'll take that over the new Factor O2 road bike you reviewed couple days ago. 😲

Can the rear derailleur be wired to main battery like on the Neuron:onFLY? So you charge only one battery, the main one.

Most road bikes past maybe 105 level are no longer a rational purchase.... For most of us, just an ego purchase without meaningful additional utility (unless you are an elite racer).
@tonyg3091 Жыл бұрын
I’d say Ultegra but yeah 105 is mighty fine.

David, nice video. What size bike are you riding in this video and how tall are you?

Real nice review. Even when you like/love the bike but you still provided some of the negatives. Since you posed the question about road bike cost versus mtb cost maybe a deeper dive video is in order.

we need to keep talking about this hyperinflated(made up) prices on new road bikes. Come on man £15k for a Cannondale lap71? i can get two really decent cars for that. love the channel David!

Hmm, Trek Domane 5 with 105 gears at £2000 against Trek Roscoe 8 sram nx gears at £2000. Which is more value? Which has better parts in there field?
@tonyg3091 Жыл бұрын
105 is the third tier Shimano, NX is I believe the 4th in Sram, not the same.

Compared to a dual suspension mt bike, there just arent that many moving parts on a roadbike. Roadbike geometry is pretty well set, no mysteries there. e shifting is new, not totally needed but its what will be coming on most all bikes. e shifting on mt bikes..............sooner or later that rear mech gets smashed or bent, this sram looks tougher though. On a 7000 + tax + shipping bike. e shifting is expensive to replace. Somehow I dont even think about shifting the SLX /XT drivetrain on my Spectral ON, it just happens. Like it always has on Mt bikes, after a while you know when to shift and how.

It's a shame about the battery not being removable. This means you can't fly with your bike and also not great for colder climates where it gets below freezing to keep your battery out in a shed
@Sr.D Жыл бұрын
Cause people pay for them, i can't understand why would someone waist 5/6/7k or even more on a bike. It's like expensive watches, you pay for the luxury, nothing more.
@bradsanders6954 Жыл бұрын
Obviously, you dont ride bikes. What am I gonna do build my own high tech E Mt bike? Design my own software? Build a charger that passes UL testing. Learn to build carbon fiber frames next. Hire a team to test it at races.... A watch doesnt do anything of value, the time can be found elsewhere. Whereas a bike is a bike.
@The_Rumpo_K1d Жыл бұрын
I only buy bikes when they are discounted. I currently own a road bike, mountain bike and e-mountain bike. The bike I regret buying the most is the road bike. Even when discounted I felt I was paying too much when you compare it to what you get for your money when buying mountain bikes. Mountain bikes aren’t cheap but for the price of a good road bike, you can get a top drawer mountain bike.

15K out the door or more for an Africa Twin......................only to find out you should have gotten a KTM 890R.

to give you a simple answer: because roadies are snobbish upper class whilst mountain bikes are for the working class 😉
@tonyg3091 Жыл бұрын
As a roadie it pains me to read this but I admit there is a great deal of truth in it. But I observe another tendency-more and more former MTBers who used their bikes for just casual riding are moving towards gravel bikes. Perhaps it is just people were kinda scared by all that special pedals, shoes, lycra and whatnot and now they can ride drop bars bike in normal clothes.

How repairable is that e-bike though. Some of the more mainstream brands might be better, but generally speaking e-bikes seem to be thrown together with and difficult to work on.
@davidarthur Жыл бұрын
Bosch seems to have a good reputation for servicing and looking after the motors and batteries though and have a service centre here in the UK so there's some peace of mind on that front
@bradsanders6954 Жыл бұрын
"thrown together" "difficult to work on" They are neither. There are videos showing exactly how to work on the things. Like anything else a person can do it himself. Or pay 100+ an hour to have someone else take a stab at it.

“Why are road bikes so expensive compared to mountain bikes?” One word. Brifters.
@davidross8233 Жыл бұрын
Because many roadies will pay anything for a bike.

Canyon is great if you want a very shitty paintjob with larges flakes of paint coming off, a bike what is not assembled properly and parts that are incompatible to each other.

Ive got 2 Canyons, they have been bullet proof, no issues of any sort. 8500 miles on my Endurace. People go online mainly to bitch, so that's mostly what you hear online. The rest are out riding the bikes having fun. Your sour grapes will get you no where.
