The 5.7 is a great power train, runs 0-60 in 5.2 on the street, gets 28 mpg on the highway, mid-grade gas and the insurance is not overwhelming - top speed with the Daytona option is limited to 150 mph. Back in April, I was pretty set on getting a Challenger Scat Pack too, but I ended up finding a brand new (leftover) 2022 6-spd manual R/T in my favorite color (Frostbite) with 8 miles on the odometer for $38,000 including TT&L (Dodge was offering $2500 rebates on 2022 R/T, GT and SXT but not Scat Pack...plus the dealer just wanted to get rid of their 2022 models so took off another ~$2000). At the time, a Scat Pack would have been at least $12k more and that's if they don't have a mark up. The R/T is definitely enough to scratch that muscle-car itch and now that I have it, I'm noticing how relatively rare it is. I see tons of Scats and GTs and a few Hellcats in my area, but very rarely do I see another R/T. I really like the 2022 R/T wheels too! (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYuxknSBfN2og6c )

You buy a 5.7 to build it. Take the 10k you save on a scat and buy exhaust, headers, and a tune. You get Scat power.
@cvnighthawk30challenger436 ай бұрын
Need a little more then headers to make "scat pack power" without boost. you need intake, cam, bigger throttle body with spacers along with a tune. Now if you a get a whole cam Kit along with after market intercooler ( more air more power) and definitely bigger Fuel Injections, spark plugs and forged internals. This should definitely make more then 500 hp without any boosts if not then just increase Bore Size since your doing forged internals.
@5kyX06 ай бұрын
@@cvnighthawk30challenger43 intake and throttle body aren't very expensive. Cam installl and long tube headers are probably the costliest parts. But still, all that together and it's less than buying a scat pack. Now the rest you speak of, yeah you're getting 500whp at that point, which is over the power of a scat pack. But that's what I love the 5.7, you can push it pretty high up depending what you want to do without forged internals. The goal is always to add the supercharger. I myself like the 5.7 hellcat build.

Originally, I wanted a 392 because the Hellcat was out of my budget. I was set to drop a down payment on a 2019 Hell Raisin 392 Challenger Scatpack with 3000 miles. At the time, I knew my insurance and payments were going to be high, so I took a pause and thought about it a little more. At the time, I had no idea the Hemi 5.7 existed until I met a guy who had a 5.7 Charger. I asked if they had a Challenger 5.7 because I'm not a fan of the 4 door. Did my research and decided to have my 5.7 built! Though it's not the fastest of the V8, I believe it's a better pick for an entry-level muscle car and on paper better on the pockets. Lower payment, insurance isn't outrageous, and it's a great daily. Not to mention it, responses better to performance mods! I can even mod it to make it as fast as a 392 without paying more in insurance. I hate that the 5.7 is overlooked and underappreciated.

Like I stated in one of your other videos, I have a 2021 Widebody Challenger Scat Pack R/T 392 T/A with the 6-speed Tremec and a 2017 Ram Laramie Crew Cab with the 5.7 Hemi. The 5.7's can be easily turbo or super charged with almost little modification and a tune, and be brought up to Scat Pack horsepower and beyond, to almost Hellcat numbers. My Ram with the 5.7 already makes 400 horse naturally aspirated in it's stock form. I have a K&N cold air kit from my 2015 Ram Tradesman I'll be installing and putting the same Magnaflow Street Series Dual Exhaust System I had on my 2015. So the Challenger with the 5.7 is a wise choice considering all the aftermarket support it has. You could buy the Widebody kit from Vicrez, (and I think there are others that sell them), slap a set of 20 inch 305's, and instant Scat Pack look alike. You won't have the Adaptive Suspension that comes with the factory Scat's Widebody option and maybe not the Performance Pages, but who actually uses that all the time? I drive my Scat and I usually have the screen for the MP3 player or satellite radio, while I'm listening to the engine.

The cars look almost exactly the same, have the same transmission, and even ride on the same tires. It's saving me $360/month and the thieves tend not to be as enthusiastic about the V6s. The R/T is a reasonable compromise if you must have the V8 and it only costs about $100/month more than the GT. In my opinion, with the current incentives, those two trims are the best buys.

I went from a v6 to a v8 5.7 challenger, and I enjoy it every time I drive it.. it's cheaper, and you still have and feel that horse power ...👍

V6 Camaros have been known to beat a 5.7 Challenger. If you don't care about racing, it's probably just a good cruiser.
@SRTGHOSTS Жыл бұрын
I mean that’s not impressive because the 5.7 was made for a truck in 2003. If it took 20 years for Chevy to compete with the base v8 good for them I guess?

@@SRTGHOSTS Bro?! Wtf? Is this even serious or you trolling? Buddy, V6 Camaro came out about 14 years ago and it was never meant to compete with any V8. Let's be real here, the V6 Camaro handles better but accelerates like a complete joke and sounds like ass. At least a 5.7 sounds better, can usually edge out a V6 in a straight line and has more room inside. Let's be honest here, a 90s Pontiac Trans Am is a better car than any 5.7 challenger. You get the legendary bulletproof 5.7 LS1 and you actually get better handling, better chassis, more durable parts and better reliability. Get you a 2002 Trans AM WS6. They're still affordable enough to be a bargain, my pal

@@JungSooLeee my point is people brag about beating the 5.7 but don’t acknowledge that it came out in 2003. Especially those import guys with 4 cylinders. I have a 5.7, scat and hellcat. I prefer mopar.

@@SRTGHOSTS I hear ya buddy. I used to be a Mopar guy until my SRT8 challenger shit all over me in so many ways with nickel and dime cheap engineering and parts and god help you with that braking system fiasco. That sheer disappointment is what made me purchase my 2012 ZL1. Almost 14 years later and 149k miles, it has yet to let me down. It's seen track days and drag days. Everything still works and it still gets driven like a Camaro. Pushing 730rwhp on a conservative tune but can do more. Listen pal, I hate that Mopar didn't do a little something more for the 5.7 in this challenger but like I said before, it's a good cruiser. Nothing more and nothing less. I also need to say the disrespect from Stellantis currently will keep me away from mopar products for years to come. I rarely purchase new vehicles but when the C8 Z06 is available at MSRP, that will be my next beast. It will last me well into retirement.

5.7 Hemi run 4.7 seconds 0-60 and 13.30's in the 1/4 bone stock with 3.06 gear ratio.. The slower ones have 2.82 axle ratio's and those are pretty much the same as a V6 Camaro..But then you have a smaller car with a Camaro,good for women to drive....

Are there any years that are better/worse than others? Looking at 2011-15 years for affordability…

I think it’s all about mileage and ownership - how has it been used? Find a good adult owned and well cared for car and should be OK
