Great stuff man. Slowing down is the hardest thing for me to do. Once in a while I'll get in the slow zone. Definitely something I need to focus on!

Thanks for the great info on cold water fishing, down here in Texas it's really slowed down. Need all the help I can get right now!! Gonna try your 4 S-tips next time I go out!

Agree without watching the video I used both a finesse jig and Ned yesterday and caught smallmouth fishing the Passaic River up here in NJ water temp is 47 degrees,a couple days ago I caught a beautiful Smallmouth fishing it slow

Good video especially for us guys here in Ohio ! We blasted a huge bag of smallies in 42 degree water on Ned rigs two weeks ago 🔥 Found them stacked up in a winter spot it was awesome

I heard a pro saying to fish in the middle of the day because the water is warmed from the sun. Also to use bigger baits because bass will exert less energy chasing and eat big baits than several small baits. And have higher energy return as a result. What are your thoughts on this?

any reason you prefer the big over the flip? i like the bitsy flip because of the stouter hook and better weed guard. i think i lose less .

Great channel! You're lucky to have soft water. It's all ice here in northern Nevada. I don't ice fish so I'll just be watching you and KZbin until may ice off.

Do you have any tips on how to be more accurate with casts? I struggle to know when to release when skipping or putting the bait in a tight area. I’m guessing most of it is just practice, and thanks for making these videos they are very helpful!
@gregc26213 жыл бұрын
Time. And practice. Its the only way.
@BassFishingHQ3 жыл бұрын
Time and practice is definitely key but I am actually planning to do a video on casting in the future. I have a few on the channel devoted to skipping

@@jimcarlson1858 hey Jim thank you for the input! We have been bank fishing. I have a Jon Boat in my shop we just purchased and Im outfitting it for our needs! For now just banks. Ill try the shallow water like you suggested. I had nibbles yesterday on spinners and chatterbait but nothing more. We are heading to the bay and lake anauhauc this weekend. Lake anahuac is good fishing, if you have not been there, I would suggest it when the weather warms up some. I hope we can get my 7 yr old on fish, he has been patient which is good he is learning that trait, as I plan on taking him hunting next season. Thanks again Jim, and good luck on the fishing buddy
@joeyhewitt77242 жыл бұрын
Tyler, all great stuff. I may have missed it, but I didn’t hear you mention water clarity. When water is very muddy and abnormally around 40 degrees, wouldn’t you upsize your bait and ode trailers/baits that disperse more water? I know the slow still applies.
@johnsutherland50533 жыл бұрын
I'm doing great in cold water with 2" ned rigs (cut down), white for murky water and black/blue flake for clearer water. I used to use the itsy bitsy black/blue jig and they worked great but only large bass would bite it.
@wykidwiscofishing58613 жыл бұрын
I’d agree with most of it however speed cranking in the cold works amazing. Just need certain cranks and I tend to have success doing it that way even with water in the mid 30’s
@BassFishingHQ3 жыл бұрын
I have not had success doing that but maybe I’ll have to give it another try. Thanks for watching

Sup. Like the 4 s's. Might have mentioned before? Can't ice fish anymore. At private pond when frozen, at the dam it's open about a 20' circle opening so I cas a smaller bait onto ice and drag it until falls, wonder what else can do in that small of area? And the river that runs at bottom of street is about 50-70yds maybe before a waterfall, doesn't freeze, been using 0-3' jerkbait and crankbait, also I cast a drop shot with more Finese bait, just cast it and put in rod holder like live bait let current do the action. Been working and water now about 34 degrees. Any suggestions if bite stops? Water will get colder there too and good flow of water? Thanks. Sry such a long comment and 2 questions. Great video

I weight a Shad Rap 06 with suspen strips(2) and use it two ways in the Winter. I use it as a suspended jerk bait and, in shallower water I can use banging the bottom in grass. It seems to work and, is a compliment to my jerk baits. I also buff the sides of the Shad Rap to dull it.

My lake is starting to freeze like the guy in Massachusetts said. But I’m still going as long as there’s an open spot. I love the Bitsy Bug. I use it a lot. My only problem is there are a lot of pike here in my Michigan lake and those things will break off my bait easily. I set the hook fast ( not harder) when They hit to try to keep the bait on the outside of the mouth. Most of the time you can tell it’s a pike by the way they hit but not always. Anyway, love the video as usual. Your my #1 KZbin fisherman

I combat the pickerel here with a 14Lb mono leader. That seems to keep them from shearing my line. I check it often.
