Got to say... now I need ANOTHER radio!!! I have a nice enough radio and then along comes the Boxer, OK, that is a true winner in every sense, but then the Jumper T20 comes out, the RadioMaster Pocket is trying to get me to say "just get it, it is only $69 bucks or so...", and then all of the customized TX16's... I will say this - about 6-7 years ago I bought a Futaba radio for an off road "truggy". Had to save up for a bit as it cost over $400 but this radio is available for $129, so that is great progress! for US!! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I am glad you found it to work very well, with some cool features, that is all great to know. Super cool to see that there are actually ELRS receivers in classic style to plug in servos!

I have a Radiolink I use for my fast cars and boats and they never get away from me. I can't wait to get one of these and with my experience with the Radiomaster 16s its going to be fun.

I created something similar for RC car radios a year ago (Multiprotocol OLED project), because there wasn't anything useful to control toy cars via RC car radio and multiprotocol module then. I use it mainly with the excellent Flysky Noble NB4 , but the system works also with other radios. The Flysky NB4 AFHDS3 protocol uses a similar LORA 2.4 GHz technology as ELRS. Max output power 100W (stock mode) = 10+ km (line of sight). Good review and cool radio!

Dang, Radiomaster has surely come a long way since they released the TX-16 all those years ago in a bid to overtake Jumper. If what others have said in the comments are true this means Radiomaster is gunning for the RC/FPV transmitter crown. At this rate, if I ever do get into the FPV and RC hobbies I'll only look into buying Radiomaster products. Thanks for the review!

It's a game changer. I have my FPV camera on a servo so I can look around at junctions. I suspect they may be an Open TX branch soon just for surface models, as the requirements are different to flight. Cool review, thanks Steve.

I want to know if this (with the 4-in-1 module) will work with the Losi Promoto mx 1/4-scale motorcycle and, if so, how you would need to program it for that RC motorcycle. It would also be interesting to see if this motor cycle will work as well with a ELRS receiver but I doubt it as the receiver provides some stabilization functionality.

This is a super cool radio. I saw you going over the channels though, don't forget with ELRS channel 5 needs to be HIGH to activate the Armed functionality. higher power outputs etc etc. With channel 5 LOW it won't power up beyond the bench 25mw power level. Of course if you need receiver channel 5 for something you can always remap that to different opentx channel from the expresslrs lua script. Usually with a 6 channel receiver you'd bump outputs 5 and 6 to 6 and 7 respectively. It should probably just come out of the box like that but oh well.
@CAPTAINDRONE79811 ай бұрын
I’m not sure what your saying makes sense as I’ve never heard such reasoning before. ELRS of today does not operate in such a fashion that I’m aware of. There are hundreds of RC products on the market and on many there is no channel 5 as they are 3 or 4 channel units.
@rcvg6942011 ай бұрын
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I keep trying to reply to this with a link to the Express LRS website but it vanishes. Anyways. Channel 5 being high is a function of Express LRS. It's how it works. If you google "expresslrs why do you keep saying put arm on aux 1" the first hit will take you to Express LRS's website explaining how that works. For a surface vehicle or fixed wing that doesn't technically have Arm, you could just set channel 5 to a fixed high position and not worry about it. I prefer to use a special function in Edge TX that does a few things. With the arm switch OFF it overrides the throttle channel to the neutral or off position and it overrides channel 5 low. With the arm switch on it deactivates the the throttle override and overrides channel 5 high. That way the same switch takes care of the channel 5 high functionality and it acts as a throttle safety for whatever model I'm using. Which can be genuinely important with fixed wing and higher power RC cars where accidentally giving throttle can cause harm.

I was just looking at surface radios and lamenting the fact that it was still stuck in the early 00s tech wise with nothing like Edge TX, multi module, or a modern open radio standard. I was just about to pull the trigger on a Flysky GT5, but it looks like things are changing. Edit: after watching the video and looking at the documentation on the RadioMaster website this radio decimates the competition and is going to throw the surface radio market on it's head.

Always run all my rc cars,trucks etc with a cheap Dumborc controller,you can get over 500m range for less than £30 which is way too much for general bashing.I think this controller will be mainly for speed run guys as i don't know many people who'd want to send their £500-£1000 rc car out of sight,even with an fpv camera fitted, someone's just gonna grab it and make off with it,especially here in the UK,I would 😂😂

These are the 2 things that were missing for rc cars. Elrs and edge tx. Amazing. I was using the Radiolink RC8X with elrs module. That one has many options like crsf link and color touch screen. But elrs is through external module, not internal. When radiomaster makes a color touchscreen version of this, then I will probably get it.
@TakeItToTheGround11 ай бұрын
I have a Radiolink radio. It's good, but unless you have an OpenTX/EdgeTx radio, you have no idea how hobbled you are. The ability to program any function you have the imagination to think of is so much more useful than a color screen. The "programming" on the Radiolink is primitive.

Question: I understand that If I opt for the MT12 with built-in ELRS, I can purchase a 4-in-1 module separately and connect it to the radio. However, as I haven't come across an ELRS module for sale, am I correct in assuming that acquiring an MT12 with built-in 4-in-1 and subsequently adding an ELRS module is not feasible? Thanks.
@CAPTAINDRONE79811 ай бұрын
There are tons, and I mean Tons, of ELRS modules. Even RADIOMASTER sells there own ELRS Ranger version.
@fc113311 ай бұрын
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 So, it seems like these ELRS modules are compatible with this radio since they all utilize the same "port" (not entirely sure about the terminology). Good to be aware of that. By the way, I came across the ELRS module on their website, but I got confused because it looks different from the 4-in-1 module. I mistakenly thought it might not be designed for this radio simply because it doesn't have the same appearance. Now I realize how illogical that was, considering they don't even operate on the same "frequency or technology." Makes sense. That being said, I haven't used ELRS before and likely won't in the future. I just wanted to ensure I wouldn't regret not having the option in case I ever decide to use ELRS. Really appreciate the fast reply! Thanks!

It looks super nice I want one! I build speed run cars too. I use the Wi-Fi extender trick with my futaba for long range. How long do you think the range is with the elrs receiver?
@CAPTAINDRONE79811 ай бұрын
Unobstructed, with a direct line of sight from car to remote could easily be 20 miles. However there is no such thing unless you are driving on the salt flats, so as you add trees, hills, buildings between your RC car and remote you cut the range significantly.
@carscoffee526311 ай бұрын
Most receivers and transmitters should have built in fail safe for signal loss that automatically cuts throttle input. Can the Mt12 be powered by 2s lipo/portable PowerBank? Im assuming it can bind and work with different brand receiver gyros..

Nope. You bind a TRANSMITTER to a RECEIVER, so for ELRS RECEIVERS you need an ELRS TRANSMITTER, and for SPEKTRUM RECEIVERS, you need a SPEKTRUM TRANSMITTER. For knock off SPECTRUM RECEIVERS (the cheap lemon ones) you can bind with a 4-in-1 TRANSMITTER.
