These are sick no doubt about it. Built well and an all in one system. However I have a similar system, slightly less output and reputable brands but less then half the price. Even at their sale price Hardkorr battery box $200 Kings 120ah lithium battery $450 Kings 1500 watt inverter $200 mounted to the battery box lid Victron 15amp mppt charger $150 mounted to the side of the battery box Victron 500amp Bluetooth shunt $200 I added an additional 50 amp Anderson plug to the side of the battery box (5 input/output in total) and a dual qc3.0 to the side of the battery box. Total price $1300. Super capable and super cheap

Awesome video mate! For my overland build i went the power station way for a change and absolutely love it. I've still got the 12v system in my campervan but the power station was a no-brainer in the end when I had limited space in the Porsche Cayenne. I even chucked it in my van on a recent trip for a bit of extra juice! Keep up the awesome content i never miss a video!!

I’ve got to admit that I’m only just starting to get into this stuff with a recently purchased caravan. There is certainly lots of bs out there about lithium batteries and power supplies etc. I finally found itechworld last month and I purchased a complete setup to install in the van. 3000w inverter, dc to dc converter, 40a charger and 3 120a pro lithium batteries. Very very impressed with their gear. It actually over performs! I couldn’t recommend them strongly enough. Good stuff!

I’ve got the Bluetti potassium iron power supply. I agree there is a place for these battery packs or as they’re called in the US solar generators. The BIG disadvantage I see is the car charging at lease for mine would take 20 Hrs run time to fully charge. We were in a free three day layover with no power supply(240v) and overcast so lack of sun. Generators banned. Ultimately we ran the 200AH house battery to empty. My plan was to connect the Bluetti to the 240van input then isolate the house battery so the Bluetti was only powering the fridge (2 way) and then a lead to the 95L Engle in the back of the Ute which was being used as a freezer. This was an unusual situation but it does/can occur. I’m now putting a cigarette connection on the outside of the van with a switch to the fridge so I can flick the fridge to get power from the Bluetti (or other 12v supply) without the need to isolate the house battery so it doesn’t suck dry the Bluetti and just powers the fridge. I agree they have a place but I not sure they replace the need to have a generator available. Particularly with a Jayco which only has a 320W solar setup. Anyhow I’ve also invested in the iTec 300w solar blanket (with discount and thanks). I agree the biggest problem is the vehicle charging time. Great video pros and cons

Hi Keelan., how you doing? I do agree, times are changing and I can see the value in this unit. The unit is ideally suited for all types of travellers. My only comment is there still a little away from replacing a generator. Being a good little genie can run continuously if needed. Having said that. The unit is perfectly placed as a companion to the genie. Fuel is expensive hey and you need to source it when travelling. This is what I currently do with my much smaller power unit. I run my Starlink and charging of camera, detector, etc. off my unit. During the day with good sun it remains fully charged. But on those days the sun is not so agreeable, one or two hrs on the genie and your good to go. Hence, matched with this unit, you can have sustainable power for god knows how long on the smell of an oiley rag. I am looking to upgrade my power unit next yr before goin back to the Goldfields and this is the ticket. I've meet you guys and I know you're the real deal. So if you give it the tick of approval, that's good enough for me. By the way, your a funny bastard 😊🤣🤣🤣 😊😊 and I mean that in a good way. 😂

If you already have an inverter onboard, you can get around the cigarette plug charging limitations like I did by plugging the AC charge cable into the inverter, which then charges the unit at 240V. I only have a 1,000W inverter, so it's not quite putting out the max charge rate the unit can handle, but it's plenty enough to charge up to full within less than 2 hrs of driving. Just over the weekend, I drove from Perth down to Denmark (around 4.5 hours). Started with 9% SOC, and by the time I reached Arthur River (about 2hrs 15 minutes later), the unit was at 100% SOC. Like Keelan said in the vid, unlimited power hack. My next step will be to upgrade my 1,000W inverter for a 1,500W one for that extra buffer when charging the PS2000. The 1,000W inverter I have does charge the PS2000, but it's doing it at max load the entire time.

That power station looks good. Way more powerful than the one we have. We have solar and 100AH in our 4Runner and 300AH in our trailer but we also have an EcoFlow Delta 100AH 1500 Inverter, portable power station. It is nice to have the extra power when needed. We just had a short power outage at home and used the EcoFlow for lighting and using our home computer for several hours and it barely used any capacity. Unfortunately, it has the same issue charging slowly on 12 volts. Can power up in about an hour on shore power.

Most cars can only supply 10-15A from their aux 12v outlet, so charging while driving isn't really an option if it's run down, so you still need to wire up something from the engine bay.

As you mentioned the slow charging via 12V system is a killer for me. The iTechworld website says 11-12 hrs (15A car port) charge time. That is a lot of driving. 25A or 50A DC/DC charging via an Anderson plug would have been nice.

The work around for that is a small (500w) inverter that is hooked up only while driving. This will give it the lowest 240v charge rate and still have it charged quite quickly, for a small additional outlay

@worthy_escapes
@worthy_escapes 6 ай бұрын
Assuming it’s the same as my Bluetti that I have, a good 200w solar panel will give you 180ish watts. Whereas a 500w inverter on the slowest charge setting will still give you a minimum of 300w charging. And those inverters are actually cheaper than a decent solar panel. Just have it on a switch and run it purely while the vehicle is running.

@@ian9toes I reckon it's because not everyone needs it. It would be interesting to see how much money companies save by not putting the Anderson connection in though. The comments section here indicates people are keen for it, for sure. Kickass have a portable power station with one, but it's not suitable to my power needs. I run multiple electrical appliances that (mostly) require 1000-1300 watts to run. In the future, I want to be able to run 2000 watt (ish) appliances. You can add an inverter (and other things like DCDC charger) to the GoFurther, (it has a zillion Andersons!) ...but I think the max inverter size that would work for the GoFurther is a 1000 watt inverter - from what I read when I was first looking into them (ask iTechworld for clarification, I think I'm right though!) The only other option really is to get all the components separately. Which is really much better if one wants more amp hours and wants to run something that draws a lot for a long time (eg. aircon). That being said, someone with the $$$$ could buy multiple portable PS2000 power stations, ample solar and run their aircon for almost 24 hours if they played their cards right and had solar input coming in whilst they were using it (which the PS2000 allows). Of course, buying the separate components would be cheaper and offer more amp hour options, but I like to consider everything. Regardless, I'm interested to see what happens next!

The one thing this (and all similar) system is missing is multiple 12v outlets, and at least one anderson output. If you want to use this while travelling to power a 12v fridge, having either an anderson or engel socket would be useful to stop the connection working loose. Otherwise these are a great option.

I have the iTech1300 model and it is perfect for weekend camping. I run induction cook top at right on 1300W with absolutely no issues. The main improvement i would suggest is making it with some proper tie down points. The 1300 is not too bad as a strap over the top works ok, but the 2000 has the flap over the AC points which will interfere with a strap. 22kgs flying through the cabin of your car is not great if you have an accident??

Looks like a very capable bit of kit. I just bough the Bluetti AC200p, which has similar capacity to the Itech2000. The price dropped to the equivalent $1000.00 USD, so it didn't take long to pull the trigger. It doesn't have the extra bells and whistles that later units it's making way for have, which drives their price point back up to near $.80/watt hr. It doesn't have the UPS feature, but it can simultaneously charge and power things. The USB PD port is only 60W vs 100w which is far from a deal breaker. It still has beefy DC outputs and is plenty flexible. Finally something I can throw in my truck and take on sites. I want to make coffee on snowy days, but I doubt the people I support would like me using any kind of flame...plus there's wind! Anyhow, it's cool to see reviews of other power stations in the same slugging weight. :) Regarding your wish for faster charging from the lighter socket, Ithech might be considering the capacity of an average 12vdc socket in most vehicles.

But the 12v Battery box solar setups are coming down in price. And so they should. We only do weekend trips and that's why I think the power station is the ideal way around the power issue. The good thing about a battery box is they are available everywhere from repco to battery world to supercheap to any four-wheel drive, shop, kings, etc. besides from companion, and maybe a couple of others? The other big 4 power station companies are online only.

Another comment / question please, I noticed when you plugged the unit into the van outside input 240v which takes an electrical lead with a 15amp plug [to run the aircon] how does that work with the PS2000 unit 240v outlet [assumed it has 10 amp outlets]? Caravan electrical leads have 15amp plugs both ends, regards GH.

So if the battery dies can you just replace the battery in the unit and keep it working as new?? Or like some of those portable battery packs that when it dies you throw the whole thing out and replace it with a new unit??

The user manual says “warning please avoid using the PS2000 near extreme temperatures, high humidity, direct sun” So, I personally dislike those ambiguous wordings….. 40 degrees @ 95% humidity - do I need to turn it off? Yep, leaving up north…..
@unintentionallyoffgrid
@unintentionallyoffgrid 6 ай бұрын
Just don't put it in the sun or near anything hot, and give it plenty of breathing space - and it will be quite okay. It has fans that will kick in whenever needed, which are part of it's safety features. If it switches off, it's because it's too hot. Whilst I do not have this particular unit, I have iTechworld's 1300P and i300's, and I have been fine on 40 ish degree days thus far. If I was outside in full sun though, that would be a whole 'nother story. I have Anderson extension cords so that I don't have to take my power stations outside to charge with solar. I saw someone who gave their power station it's own umbrella too, to keep it cool. They are precious cargo that need to be looked after.

That’s a question for itechworld! I wouldn’t put a dcdc charger in between if you were going to try that. Go straight alternator through the inbuilt MPPT but 100% ring itechworld first! Also it chargers straight off a ciggy plug in your car so it does charge off the car regardless

Buy 2 and save on buying petrol forever. Depending on the draw of your airconditioner, it could work, just give iTechworld your aircon specs and they can give you an estimated run time. You could charge up fully with solar during the day - or if you have access to grid power, you could use that too to charge. I have found my power stations to be so helpful, as I don't need to buy fuel, gas, pay electricity bills (as I charge via solar as I am off grid), or pay an electrician to do any work. Good luck in getting your 3 hours or more run time of the aircon :) Also - if the suggestion of getting 2 of these units sounds a bit ridiculous, consider a setup where you can run a USB fan. I've found mine very helpful and I think I paid $35 ish for it at Bunnings. On hot days sometimes I dunk a towel in water and cover me and my dog with it and put the fan on, which makes it even cooler. Bit of a mess though! There are also other options to look at if you go to the iTechworld website and look at their complete kits. Regardless, they will be able to point you in the right direction. Just have your aircon specs handy :)

Hey Keelan, when you plug your van into 240V at a caravan park, does it charge your 600 amp hour battery setup? If so, then isn't that all you're doing when you plug the power station into the van? That's a test on how fast the station will charge your van batteries, not how long you can run the air con from the station.
@SarahandKeelanTravels
@SarahandKeelanTravels 7 ай бұрын
No so shore power automatically takes all the loads out of the van (shore power being the ps2000) it also charges the van at the same time. So the PS2000 is running the loads plus charging the batteries

Keelan could it be the size of the wire going to your cigarette lighter that's the problem for charging?
@unintentionallyoffgrid
@unintentionallyoffgrid 6 ай бұрын
It's not the wire. It's the thing that will take the longest to charge out of all available options because the output is so minimal. A full charge can be done in 2 hours if plugged into grid power. Or solar is quite fast also, depending on the conditions and what solar set up you have. :) There are other available different portable options if one wants to use a DCDC charger though, eg a different product on their website called a GoFurther battery box, or there's a bunch of other options on the complete kits page. :)

@HammerRocks
@HammerRocks 7 ай бұрын
One major flaw or con (particularly for tourers like me) that these types of power stations have in common that you didn't mention is the lack of ability to be charged by solar (fixed or blanket) and via a DC/DC charger at the same time. And most (if not all) when being charged from the car's 12v is via the 12v outlet only - no option through a DC/DC charger. That's why they are slow to charge when done that way.

Their repair centre has all the necessary parts and expertise to repair or service the unit if and when required. The PS2000 has a 2 year warranty and can be charged thousands of times. iTechworld can change the batteries etc inside, however they'd need to quote you on that. With regards to affordability, I got my iTechworld 1300P with an interest free loan from NILS (NILS loan up to $2000 if you're approved). The 1300P can run appliances that use 1300 watts or less. I use it for everything (microwave, regular sized washing machine on cold, sandwich press, induction cooker, oven, charging usb items like phones, lights etc).
