Nice job?? I think the operator is almost useless. He would rather fight a vehicle, and change pulling positions 10 times, rather than just get in and move the bloody truck. AND wasting all this time, he had another operator standing there waiting for him to move out of the way. This is the second video in a row where an operator has made bad decisions. Operator needs to be trained more in getting the job done once. People are waiting.

It could have. I wasn’t really wanting to do a bunch of winching for the situation. I was pretty confident I could load it from that one spot.

Ask the other wrecker driver to hold the brakes of the wrecked car while you winch. Sometimes ya get lucky and thats all it takes to make them follow the direction of the cable.

Yep. If you can stop the tires from spinning they’ll go where they’re pulled, not where they’re pointed. That’s why I always have wood blocks on the back of my truck. Just in case the parking brake or park doesn’t work.

A Nissan Altima with a CVT transmission and they gave it paddle shifters 🤣. Thats awesome. With built in fake shift points. Im jk i have driven them and the paddles actually feel better than you would expect on a cvt trying to mimic gear shifts

Wouldn’t have mattered if both ends roll. It still would have just rolled in a straight line. That’s why I had to stop the wheels from rolling.

Sure it would have! and once u had it closer to bed could have just hooked to Soft shackle on driverside to slide it side ways where u needed it. Then u could have put ur bridle back on and it would have gone straight up the bed instead of it Favoring one side because of winch line being more to one side on the choker than the other.

Exactly, by stopping the wheels from rolling, and once it was closer to the bed. But just moving the snatch block down from the start wouldn’t have helped anything with the wheels rolling and no way to stop them.

I’m not waiting on scene for the other wrecker to show up, finish loading, and leave, before I start working. No sense in keeping the road shut down, and the cops on scene any longer than needed. I was finishing up before the other wrecker barely got started.

What happens to all the cars in the yard?

It depends. If, the owner of the car has full coverage, then they just have to inform their insurance company who will come get the car, and the tow company will be reimbursed for the tow. If, the car owner is not insured, they can come get the car, but they must pay for the tow. If, the car goes unclaimed, after a certain period, the tow company will file paperwork to transfer ownership of the car to the company. They can then auction it off or sell it for scrap depending on the condition of the car. This will very likely end up in a financial loss for the towing company, but you have to take the good with the bad in a rotational tow.

Danny explained the process pretty well. In Texas, the vehicles have to sit in impound for 45 days before we can transfer the title to our name, and auction it off.
