NY born, you did well. I do my bread with a drizzle of Olive oil and seasoned bread with garlic and parsley flake or oregano or you can use butter. Make sure to get them ends buttered. Now, depending on the spot, some use onions and peppers. I do both, and I add peper flakes cause I like heat. You did the rest pretty good. Chop cheese is a cornerstone staple in the urban parts of NY where I'm from. I'm in NC now and make them at home still. 😊

This was educational for me being from the midwest and living in LA, I don't know anything about a chopped cheese sandwich. A chopped cheese restaurant just opened here in LA. Glad I saw this vid b4 trying. Looks good, but not the typical food I eat, but I'm definitely not the strict diet type--just a matter of preference. If I try the spot here, I'll watch for how authentic they make it in comparison to Matt.😊

I'm watching this and thinking "Oh, okay. So the New Yorkers are making a Philly Cheesesteak with 80/20 hamburger, rather than using ribeye meat." Philly Cheesesteaks are attributed to a south Philly hotdog vendor, Pat Olivieri in the 1930s.
