Chopper talking to animals is the most underutilized ability in the series. Hypothetically he could get some bird to fly around to find the crew and get rough idea of the Lego land to know where to go so they could escape. It’s also helps for infiltration missions.

Chopper comes from a winter island. In ancient times, northern european shamans would let the reindeer eat Amanita Muscaria (red and white mushroom) and then drink the Urine to hallucinate. I believe Oda was playing on this ancient myth/practice and as well as the Mario thing. In Finland, indigenous Sámi people have long consumed the fly agaric mushroom (Amanita muscaria) as part of their shamanic rituals. I think that Roger in fact is the king that hiriluk spoke of that was cured after seeing the cherry blossoms, which is kind of hinted at by that one flashback of the meeting between roger and whitebeard in a cherry blossom forest, but also the fact that it could have been that he was cured in the way hiriluk was, in that his will will live far longer than him and his true death will not happen until long after his physical death because he still will exist in the memory of those who he met, and his will will continue to be carried by those close to him. if a man only dies when he is forgotten, roger is still alive, enacting his will(likely something joyboy related) through his former crew members, and hiriluk is still alive through chopper, and chopper's objective in creating a medicine that cures everything. the point of Hiriluk's cherry blossom story was not to suggest that seeing cherry blossoms would actually actually physically cure any disease, but to ensure that a physical cure all would be created through inherritor of his will. I think Hiriluk's speech about death really feels that much more impactful when considering the fact that this also applies to Roger. also I have reason to believe that Crocus and Kureha are connected in some way, they are both obviously incredible doctors, and they were both alive and adults for a long time, it is not out of the question that at least for a brief time, Crocus may have studied under kureha, but they definitely have at least interacted, Drum island is like two islands away from reverse mountain, two doctors of that kind of notoriety just have to have crossed paths at some point. this also explains how Hiriluk found out about Roger's ailment, and how Kureha knows about the will of D. (side note: assuming this is at least somewhat true, Hiriluk also probably knew about the will of D, it just makes sense)

Much as I love this conceptually, Oda does tend to just Occam’s razor most of the story. The simplest explanation is probably the one that makes the most sense. Oda thought a talking reindeer would be cool and retroactively worked out a way for it to exist in his world. Chopper became a mascot and thus we don’t really care about his arc anymore. It sucks but I’d put a lot of money down on the idea that the final saga isn’t going to explore the individual straw hats that much if at all. We’re gonna spend most of the time learning about all these lurking legends we’ve yet to meet or already met. Look how long it took for us to get garp and aokiji actually fighting for real. There’s way too much left to explore and resolve to explore any new dynamics within the crew. Probably only Usopp is getting anything as he’s the only straw hat we’ve been led to believe has additional story to tell. The others have mostly completed character arcs outside of the actual fulfillment of their dream.

7:35 my only issue with this is that a major part of Drum island that due to the sole FACT that no cure all exists, that gives chopper purpose to search how to cure all illnesses.
