What a beautiful, masterfully designed vehicle. I love it when somebody designs a vehicle with something specific in mind, and crafts every detail to match. Things like the painted on emblem and the flush door handles are such small touches, but they serve the overall purpose, and they add a ton to the personality to boot.

You need to lay your hands on some American late 40’s and early 50’s straight eights. They were actually petty common back then. Buick had an overhead valve version. Most of them could crack 100 mph.

My grandfather bought a 1936 La Salle straight 8 in the mid 60s, and he used to cruise on the highway at 90mph with 2/3rds throttle. That car could have easily hit 100 if you pushed it. It only had 105hp, but it was geared fairly high for the day and had gobs of torque. Sadly the engine recently granaded because of a poorly done restoration.

The late 30's Chrysler airflow was a good example as well. It was so radically different for its time Chrysler toned it down quickly after because nobody was really ready for its streamlined design

It might not be from a well-remembered area, but in terms of cars you should never look at what happened during the time they were built. You should just look at the vehicle, as it is the thing that matters. It survived in the end, he didn't :) Gorgeous design, and the classic Mercedes Benz Silver. And although it isn't that big, it feels that way with those giant arches.

Probably just the rad, I don't believe cars of this era had water coolant overflow tanks so if it started to get hot or boil usually cars would just as you say puke the coolant on the ground

pretty amazing and beautiful, but a Duesenberg SJ from 1929 could pass it easily. And the Tatra T77 of 1934 was actually a production car with similar aerodynamics, rather than a one-off. The T77a could go 150 km/h with only 75 horsepower. In engineering, it's important to understand that we're always standing on the shoulders of giants that went before. We could also mention the Rumpler Tropfenwagen of 1921, which is considered to be the first streamlined production car. It managed to get a Cd of 0.28 with most of the curves just in one plane, rather than compound.

1930’s 180 hp uffda what will we do with all that power? 2020 only 250 hp WTH? I need at least 300 I’m going to drive 75…😂😂also hey my fuel mileage is terrible lol 1995 Crown Vic 180 hp LX model 24 mpg hwy all day at 70 cd amazingly low for a large 4 door sedan 🤷‍♂️ merged fine, 154 hp Camry’s same thing 160- 180 hp 3.8l GM same thing. Nobody did 12 second 1/4 miles but we got back and forth to work, the grocery store.. Gas prices up and now everyone is wondering why mpg isn’t… there should be a mandated eco mode available on all new vehicles over 200 hp (it may never get used, I know) to limit the hp so even if you mat it in eco mode it goes just not maximum fuel burn unless you flip the switch. Make the option to use it available anyway, most people will use the power if it’s there this just helps keep us from unintentionally burning fuel like a cruise ship, ya’ know?

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!!

So why did you choose to release this video (with its awkward Nazi-worshipping overtones) on Rosh Hashanah, of all days, one of the holiest days of Judaism? I generally love your videos, Tommy, and I get that this is a fascinating car, but the choice of day seems unfortunate, at the very least.
