This close-up footage of a forest fire burning near White Rock, B.C., was captured on July 13.
This is one of hundreds of active wildfires burning across the western province.
B.C. has reported more than 1,000 fires this year. The yearly average is around typically 1,300.

Actually, fire is necessary for a healthy forest. These fires are a result of governments stifling fires for 80 years. If they had allowed the naturally occurring small fires that help clear dead brush and trees to burn, this wouldn't be happening. This is the result of 80 years of putting out natural small fires that should have burned. Fire is a vital part of the forest's ecosystem. When you don't allow natural fires to clear away dead debris, you get a massive burn, like this one.

Our fires in Alberta continue. 88 started at the same time, hundreds of miles from each other, on a clear day, no lightning. RCMP have made a couple of arrests.
