Armor All also makes a ceramic product (for glass specifically) but it is tricky to apply and may take a couple applications. I remember back in the 80's (when I was a teen and had a lot more time to experiment) I used RAIN-X on my car - I cleaned the windshield with normal glass cleaner, then with BON AMI (a cleanser like Comet but cheaper) then with isopropyl alcohol - spending about an hour on the front glass - the results were awesome - I really do believe the stuff works as advertised it's just that people can't or won't spend the prep time involved - it's not a knock against them just a reality of life. Ironically my wife currently drives my 2018 Kia Soul turbo and almost always forgets she has a rear wiper - we have a 2022 IONIQ 5 coming in a couple months which she'll drive - hopefully she won't miss the rear wiper then ;-) Great tip on the Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic! - I think I already have it in the garage never really thought of using on the glass but as you said it says you can...

I use the Turtle Wax 3 in 1 Ceramic spray to clean and maintain a nice finish on my ID.4 I've never worked witha product so amazing in many regards. It keeps not only the finish butter smooth but keeps the windows clear of grime and junk. Makes for such easy cleanup. Also great if it rains.

Same, I find the rear wiper on my current hatchback essential. With the TurtleWax do you find your rear visibility is fine for seeing the car behind you, backing out of parking spots, etc?

Europe has them but they use a different style than North America. Australia has a system similar to North America but the one guy who's posted photos had his custom fabricated. I've emailed Curt and Draw-Tite asking when they'll have after market hitches but have not received a response in several weeks. Hyundai has part numbers for the hitch but the dealers can't order them right now. Really hope they get this going as the weather is getting nicer and people will be wanting to tow very soon

Is this stuff safe to use on a car Window if the car is matt paint finish? Do you think there is any risk of it glossing/waxing up the paintwork if it streaks or anything?

Thanks for all your videos. I have tried waxing the rear window and while it works fairly well in a heavy rain driving for more than 30 minutes an intermittent light rain can easily obscure rear visibility. Having the ability to have the rear camera during less than optimal conditions would be great. According to other forums Ioniq 5s in the EU and Britain have this ability. So I wonder if there is a way to get that on North American cars through a software update/change or if there is a way to override the 5-6mph cut-off.

I'm in Connecticut. I was a day one reservation holder and I had multiple outlets to purchase. My local dealer worked with me very closely but they didn't get the car I wanted so I purchased elsewhere that has what I wanted on the lot for several weeks. OEM or aftermarket. There is an aftermarket hitch available in Canada now, trying to figure out shipping to the US. Wiring is also now available. I'll be hopefully doing an install video in the coming month.

Have you done any discussion/testing on battery drain when using Heat? It surprised me and blew up my whole Friday recently.

Thanks for the video. Too bad they didn't tuck a wiper up under the rear shade/spoiler. Rumour is Hyundai for 2023 are putting a camera up there. The rear view mirror will be either a regular mirror or it can be used with the camera.

Great video and really helpful. I have had ioniq 5 since Oct and Indo really like the car, but it does have a few shortcomings - such as the lack of rear wiper. Out of curiousity how is your charging speed on the car? I frequently drive long motorway/freeway miles and when stopping to charge I get the most god awful charging speeds. Starting at 50kwh and then reducing to 34Kwh was yesterday's debacle. This is after driving for 2 hours! I am interested to see if anyone is getting any reasonable charging speed or if it's just an issue with mine. I am taking it back to dealer for a check, but I can almost hear them telling me that they can't see anything wrong with it!

That is really unfortunate. What were outside temperatures? I regularly start around 70kw and by 20 minutes I'm up to 150-175kw. This is in 30-40°F temps

Just out of curiosity, did you upgrade your car to the lastest software update that is available. There is some speculation that the update might help, even though Hyundai says it doesn't. In my USA model, I was getting in the 60s when starting charging in sub freezing temperatures and it got up to 130 kW at a certain point. If you have the AWD version with "Winter Mode" you can try that as it may keep the battery warmer in winter which could help with charging rates. There is a rumor that there will eventually be an update for anyone that has the battery warming system that is tied to "Winter mode" that will allow us to pre warm the battery when we select a charger using Hyundai's navigation system.

My model is the RWD 72Kwh Premium and in the UK it doesnt come with the battery warmer unless you have the ECO pack - which i didnt know at the time. No I did not although I will say the stock wipers are trash. Replaced them with Bosch Icons that work much better

Ultimately, the timing was right. My car was valued at what I bought it for 2 years prior, so putting a good chunk down on a more expensive EV made it an easier pill to swallow. 2 years of free charging was a nice caveat. And I just wanted to lower my carbon use. Not to mention it's fun as hell to drive compared to my slow gas car.

I've been using Rain-X glass repellent for over 35 years on my windshields, Rain-X is great for water repellency while driving in the rain. Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray coating I only use on my vehicles paint finish. The Turtle Wax ceramic coating gives me great hydrophobic beading and long lasting coating. I'm impressed about how the Turtle wax performed on the wiper-less rear window. No offense, but I am satisfied on both products the way I use it.

There are rumors going around that the rear was originally designed in a way that the wind could actually blow dry the rear window, but then someone added the big spoiler which is preventing the wind from getting where it needs to be in terms of good rear view. I guess after this became a known issue at Hyundai it was already to late to design and implement a rear wiper into the car. Also I have heard that a rear wiper -if it's not super fancy designed could have a negative impact on aerodynamics, an area where the Ioniq 5 is already behind competition a bit.
