I know people are saying "you shouldnt undersell yourself" or "you shouldve declined this commission", but I totally understand why youve done what youve done. Its really easy to take any commission for any price when NO ONE commissions you and you REALLY need the money, simply to feed yourself. People saying "dont undersell yourself" are usually the people who probably never went through "having no commissions and no money to pay your bills" phase

oof, i'd definitely suggest having in your tos a max amount of edits and start taking deposits on commissions so if someone bail you at least get some compensation😊

I totally understand this. I did 14 pieces for a "friend" for 300, got no feedback or told exactly what they wanted other than cards. Had to figure it all out, full illustrations, and then didn't get paid for months. I at least got half up front and then had given up on the rest. I'm so glad you're free from that hell and..... Silver lining learned what not to go through? Naah I wish you never had to go through that. Also shameless plug but it worked I love webcomics lemme just go check this out.

a tip for files like this; you should have sent it to a google drive for them to download. and please please even when you're underselling yourslf (you shouldn't your art is great ) get at least half payment upfront

had similar commission to the point i don’t ever want to do it again if i see children book illustration commission i say no they will sneak extra or constant changing adding what they want did everything you said. i feel like same company contacted you i got similar course of events tried to refund but the website sided with me.

I'm dealing with a similar client right now; the person that's paying me is my bestie who wanted to help me with my new laptop but I didn't wanna just accept his money. I'm drawing commissions for his city of mist party members and one of them seems to not understand that every major decisions they make to change something they said they already liked and dragged me until semi clean sketch for means I have to do it again, from scratch. it's not a 3D model you dingus. anyway, been a pain, gave them an ultimatum, I'm not doing any more modifications for this client. nightmare client istg. it's worse when they don't break tos but get on your nerves. at least you can just cancel it with a decent reason and a fee if they break tos.

Mate. I feel like some of this would be avoided if you got the payment upfront and laid down the law that you don't do major changes after completion. Save receipts to their requests to change during the commission, then when they wanted major changes at the end, remind them of those original conversations where they had time to request changes. Charge extra for editing or don't edit unless it's MINOR changes. It's not just underselling yourself. It's a lot of bad choices here. I also don't understand why you wouldn't just upload the files to a larger cloud and share it with them that way if you couldn't emai them. Avoid the USB situation.

@@Hierarchia i agree, hindsight is 2020, i dont get commissions very often, so really i am a bit new at the whole commission thing, for some reason the mere mention of payment or money is taboo whenever i get commissioned, overall i agree. gotta make a solid contract when it comes to offering services.
