I really enjoy your firm but understanding attitude regarding ebay and sellers. You're right, they're not our friends, they don't care about us and the customer service primary job is to quote a policy and bounce you away. Even though my store is on its death bed (used to get 50 sales per weekend, this weekend I got 7) I enjoy hearing your perspective on it.

100% agree with everything you said, especially about the scammer not wanting to copy the game, because like even ps3 emulators exist now. I think he just wanted to swap his crappy old game for a better condition one. Really enjoying the octo reacts series.

But yeah as soon as he said the scammer deserves privacy, I was like: no he doesn't! He threw that right out the window when he decided to be a jerk.

Is postage different in AU than here in the states? Although tracking does carry an extra cost, buying postage through eBay is typically cheaper than buying postage at the Post Office and will always include tracking. Especially necessary if you DO want to reach Top Rated on eBay you need to upload tracking so I'd never assume stamps worth using even if it's a cheap item, I even sell $2.99 + Shipping Action Figures that have tracking. Sounds like a case of buyers remorse. Definitely easy to detect and to handle with just forcing them to return it and keeping contact with eBay about the issues. I'm not entirely sure but if you are going to be away and are expecting a return you can contact eBay for an extension. However, in the case they don't I'd just refund the money than have to deal with a nasty defect. Then take the steps needed to report the buyer to eBay when you've returned if the item is indeed damaged and so on. This is definitely good information for new sellers to have, as this is typically the most common "scam" out there that will target any seller throughout their career selling on eBay.

Our postage is similar, but we are able to list a product as an untracked letter (normally used for low value DVDs, games, etc.). All of our parcels come with tracking and its actually cheaper for us to go through Australia Post as we get "Band" discounts; whereas, eBay charges market rate (with the fees on top). Bands give a higher discount the more you send. Personally, I think Tory had the exception to the rule, I've heard so many horror stories (even from seasoned sellers) that eBay will side with buyer with the expectation that the seller will write it off. Removal of negative and neutral feedback has become more difficult. The returns issue doesn't get brought up a lot, so I would be surprised if anyone actually thought of speaking to eBay to have the period extended.

@@thedisgruntledoctopus That's interesting, so does that change the requirements for AU sellers to reach Top Rated Seller? We need 95% or better Uploaded Tracking. It's possible I've been lucky in regards of bad buyers and returns. Typically they're very straightforward and no issues, in the 2 occasions I've had a buyer do a switcheroo eBay had my back. Although my Block list is filling up with buyers that raise some red flags. May also be because I don't sell much beyond $30, and my ASP is just $17.

I don't think that tracking uploads is a part of top rated here (it is factor in funds being held until an entry scan by the Post Office). If the item is assigned a business policy of untracked - it doesn't count towards the 95%.

There’s not necessarily nothing you can do if an item is stolen after delivery. I’ve sought and received compensation from Australia Post for stolen parcels by arguing that they were not left in a safe place.

​@@thedisgruntledoctopus I've successfully made this claim as the seller, on the buyers behalf. I was compensated to my business bank account and refunded the buyer via eBay. They were nice, so I wanted to look after them. I've also heard that they've 'cracked down' on approving compensation of this nature, more recently - but if I had a dollar for every time I've heard anecdotal stuff like this about AP, I'd be a millionaire. When making a claim for things like this, I usually lodge the ticket and then call immediately after to get it escalated.

There is a period when dime my parcels and letters were getting delivered to the next street over and I was receiving their items, completely different name of streets. One night the guy for the next street came over with the parcel and start yelling at me said he's sick of this and I need to sort it out. I said well you sort out why your parcels and letters are coming to my house then and he looked at me stupid. Apparently they just look at the number and not the street name.

've been reselling on and off on eBay since roughly the same time as this guy. They have always sided unfairly with buyers. Things have slightly improved but not much. My worst was not a scam, but just a dumb American. She ordered a product from me that weighed over 2 kgs. The next day I informed her of the postage costs, she agreed and paid invoice. I sent product that day. 2 days later, she lodges a request for return as postage was "too high". Naturally, I couldn't as item was in transit. She lodged a dispute with eBay. They ended up issuing her a full refund, including cost and post, and she got to keep the item. I lost over $200 and the product. - 6 weeks later - she was selling it on her own account. Ebay claimed that she was entitled to a refund and did not even wait for her to send the item back. I tried to fight it but got nowhere.

It's crazy what people will seek to get away with. I know of a few mates that have had issues with forced refunds with Region 4/PAL DVDs/Games - have it written and their description and they are still forced to refund.

He has shipped in large domestic letter (twice as thick as LP sleeve A4 Size),If it was a PS1 game the jewel case crack with temperature change LOL and should have gone in a box . Ebay would have sided as soon as he demand stuff , its call extortion and ebay hates that , they normally slam the door on the buyer. get a good laugh out of your videos .

From memory I think it was an XBOX 360 game, so I don’t think the temperature would have affected it as much as a PSX game Like I mentioned in the video, if it’s breakable or over $50 it’s in a box (for DVDs/Games, etc
