Machine setup and calibration is typically done once. Afterwards, routine job runs, involving homing, probing, work coordinate setting, file choice, and job start/pause/resume etc can be done reasonably well on a phone or other small-screen device. FluidNC is not limited to use via cell phone. It can be configured and controlled from PCs, tablets, phones, dedicated pendants, pretty much anything. That said, the FluidNC developers (I am one of them) do not encourage people to use it with plasma cutters, which really need industrial-grade components. FluidNC works well in the hobbyist and light production spaces, especially on low-power, low-cost milling, routing, and laser engraver setups. We are not focused on industrial grade CNC, as that is best handled by commercial, for profit, hardware and software that costs enough to pay people to support it. Such products rightly emphasize stability and repeatability, whereas FluidNC is continually evolving to handle oddball DIY use cases that appear weekly. Pros should spend the money on stable, supported industrial-grade solutions. Hobby use is a different proposition.

Thank you for your support. I really respect you for letting everyone know its suggested use. I myself have never used the software, but please understand the video really wasn't about it. It was about the creator's poor choice in making a video to show his controller build. I hope you make it known that the software isn't best suited for plasma systems on your website if you have one. Thank you, Vince

So, he had an ok ethernet controller that would have probably worked just fine using Windows based CNC software.....then he "updated the firmware so it could run Linux CNC".....and it didn't work! 😊

Thank you for your support. Its really interesting how many of these creators literally talk as you pointed out about creating their own problems.

Thank you for your support. This is exactly the case, and many of them feel all electronics is the same. I can't tell you how many guys compare these systems to assembling a gaming computer. Vince
