Fun facts! The triggers also have hall sensing! I think the most exciting thing about the controller is how aggressive their licensing department is. They've already put similar sticks into the Ayn Neo Next and made a replacement kit for steamdeck sticks. There's a legitimate world where getting a third party controller with hall sensing isn't just dependent on one company. The paddles aren't too big of an issue for me as the controller made learning claw grip a lot easier, but I would like to see either a pro model with paddles and stops and all that fun jazz, or an attachment with compatibility. A lot of the faults of the controller are primarily because it's designed for switch users. Switch controllers rarely have audio jacks or back buttons, as they're in much less demand. "Thumb has to constantly control the camera" is less common in switch games, where accurate face buttons tend to be more important. They have a PS5+Xbox adapter in the works, but other adapters should also be compatible.

They're also working on replacement joysticks for the Switch Joycon controllers, and boy I can't wait till those come out so I can replace the crappy stock ones. GOOD RIDDANCE TO NINTENDO!
@paigelove26662 жыл бұрын
@@JaxxKinson3621 Hilariously, they were trying to replace switch joycons first. Making a hall module that small is hard, so they started with controller size and accidentally made an absolute killer controller. As much as the switch joycon problems were an issue, I don't really blame nintendo directly for that. ALPS sticks have been the norm, there hasn't been an alternative to alps sticks, and no one predicted that downscaling them would cause that many performance issues. Joycons have so much going on in them that "the controller technology we've been using since the first dualshock is what consistently broke" was hardly the expectation.

"this controller doesn't have basic modern features because the Switch is a bad piece of last gen hardware" is the wildest excuse I've seen in a while
@paigelove26662 жыл бұрын
@@mango_raider4116 Back buttons aren't a modern feature on any controller, trigger stops aren't either and also aren't usually necessary on switch controllers because they're usually digital to begin with and therefore already have their triggers stopped, and Xbox is 3 generations behind on gyroscopes with PS devs not using the options available in their controllers. Switch controllers and devs using their gyroscopes lets people actually hold normal controllers like normal people, instead of having to pay out the nose for unreliable elite controllers and relying solely on terrible stick aim, or learning claw grips (and still just relying on terrible stick aim while also lowering button accuracy). This doesn't even begin to mention that the audo degredation in xbox's and ps's audio jacks is so bad that using wireless is the best option on any of them, while the switch itself does have a pretty decent qualtiy audio jack which is far more useful given its portability. Also, none of this was in any way "excusing" the switch's hardware. It's a portable console from 2017, from a company that makes weaker consoles as a business strategy. It's just interesting how the demand for controller features develops in different ways, and how the primary complaints about a controller made for those needs are that the controller itself doesn't meet a different market's desires. That's a huge success for a controller.

@@paigelove2666 Even with alps being the current trend, Nintendo is known for being a bit more old fashioned and using older tech in their stuff (even to their own detriment in some cases) so why didn't they keep the good old things like the optical sensors they used in the Nintendo 64's analogs which were also resistant to drift even when the sticks got lose (and they definitely got lose real fast too). If a company like this can do this Nintendo and the others could've done it if they cared. I came back to this video to say, I bought this pro controller for less than 50 bucks (cheaper than an actual switch pro controller and much cheaper than all other pro controllers I've got) and it's an awesome piece! It feels very high quality in my hands and the sticks are really great with no dead zone mode! The shoulder buttons feel very good to use, too. The face buttons are fine, but I'm used to my Razer Wolverine, which basically got mechanical mouse clicky face buttons (best feeling ones, I've ever had). I had much MUCH less trouble getting the King Kong pro 2 working on PC, than an actual switch pro controller (which likes to bitch around and refuses to work with cable on my PC/ only works with blue tooth connection). The 600% sensitivity mode for the triggers is VERY good for any game, where you don't need the trigger input (basically anything but racing games?). I was sceptical at first, having game pads with physical trigger locks, but TBH the massive increased trigger sensitivity does the job very well and I actually tend to use the triggers on the king kong pro 2 with less force, while I tend to push really hard against the physical trigger stops in my other game pads (don't ask me why, that's just how my brain auto pilots the controllers). My final verdict: I can live with the missing head phone jack, I miss the 3rd shoulder buttons, that the razer wolverin has, as well as four back pedal buttons in some games. But on the other hand I get awesome joysticks and the option to use gyro (I'm a big fan of gyro controls and enjoy to play around with rewasd to create my own gamepad configs), which makes me choose this controller over my nacon revolution. (The Nacon Revolution pro 3 controller technically has the best mix of button layout, the worst 4 back buttons and it breaks terribly easy) I 100% recommend this controller over the original switch pro controller. It's cheaper (at least where I live), much higher quality, comes with more customization options, is easier to set up and feels better in your hands. It's just better in any way (sometimes FAR better) than the original. Thanks for showing me, that this controller exists vCuda! :D

@crankpatate3303 Жыл бұрын
@@harshrajsoni5082 Yea, it's still working mighty fine. But I have very recently (like one or two weeks ago) swapped to the Razer Wolverine V2 Pro game controller. I've mentioned a previous model in my original comment. I think the old one was already a perfect controller, but it missed the gyro controls. The V2 pro however is basically a playstation dualsense controller with touchpad and gyro (and xbox button layout). They've also added mecha-tactile buttons everywhere (face buttons, D-pad, shoulder buttons AND triggers, when you switch them to button mode). And it still got the 2 extra shoulder buttons and the four back pedals (which are controversial in design, but I like them A LOT) That controller (Razer Wolverine V2 Pro) is expensive as heck however, but I think it's one of the best hard ware you can currently get for money. The Gulikit KingKong Pro 2 was used by me extensively. I've also used the gyro of it a lot by using remap programs. The sticks are still very precise, but I had to recalibrate them sometimes, when they started drifting (use the game pad intern recalibration to get rid of the drift) What I had to learn about the KingKong Pro 2 is to NEVER drop it, not even from 30 cm height (it was an accident, I swear!). The face buttons will instantly pop out and fly around the room and good luck finding these grey little buggers again, haha. But in general this controller is basically almost as good as new and the used grip material is one of the few, that doesn't make my hands sweat & also still looks like new. I'm genuinely impressed, especially because of the price tag. By the way, I recommend reading the manual of the GuliKit KingKong Pro 2 controller. It has a bunch of cool features you can access by pressing various buttons of the controller simultaneously. For example the 0 dead zone mode has to be activated (is not active as default setting). There's also other functions like super light touch triggers (great for any game that's not a racing game) and the already mentioned calibration mode.

I dont detect any input lag and it feels great to use. You just have to press a button on the top of the controller until it vibrates to make sure its in the right mode for Xbox, the adapter picks it up right away once you do that. Very easy to set up and use. I set the Series X to co-pilot mode so I can swap between that controller and the Elite controller at any time as well, depending on what controller feels better for which games. It allows both controllers to be used at once, but completely optional. If you want to use this controller on PS5 you can only use it for PS4 games on that console. There's a bigger limitation there.

So I dont mind. I already had the XMB adapter. Its awesome for using my modded joysticks and 8bitdo M30 , so all I needed was this controller. I just picked one of these up, so far reasonably impressed with it and hoping the reliability will mean longer life and less E-waste. Mine even came with the replacement xbox layout ABXY button set and a little button puller! The zero deadzone thing, I think I'm gonna contact Gulikit to request a feature of "reduced deadzone mode" in between the default deadzone size and zero. The option to just have some very small deadzones could really help with it's life as the mechanical components of the sticks will inevitably eventually wear and introduce at least tiny amounts of drift when using zero deadzones, even if the sensors themselves are immune to drift. They seem to have been pretty good with firmware updates so far, and I can say the firmware update process is really easy (literally just plug it in, press a button combo, a drive appears, you drop the firmware update file in, done) so I hope they may improve the feature set further!

Hey vCuda have you seen the FlyDigi Apex 2? Four back buttons, two extra shoulders, two extra face buttons in the ABXY region, gyro, the BXY (not A) is on a circlepad-like slider for additional inputs, plus support for macros. Four menu buttons, power switch, and a dedicated pairing button, two stick heights plus the sticks have a loose metal ring to act as a bearing between the stick and gate, the face plates come off for dongle storage and a BXY slider locking ring. I'm not sure why A isn't included on the circle pad cluster. The way it functions is a button press activates slider input, so you basically get a full dedicated joystick per button. I've seen this used for leaning and crouching on a single input, weapon swapping, I'm sure it could be used as a radial menu (similar to what Steam Input allows) for switching between a range of items within a hotbar, etc. But the cool thing is, even if you set the slider to only cardinal directions, that's +12 functions within the ABXY cluster. I know it's marketed more towards mobile games, as touch and drag is a very common input method, thus why the slider exists, but it's also usable on PC, and another content creator, BoomBakalous, has a ton of content on PC functionality and mapping with this controller. The controller is definitely beyond typical 'pro' controller features, but it might be up your alley, even if it isn't it's still an interesting product that allows for atypical control schemes, it'd be an interesting content piece nonetheless. Plus I honestly want to see your thoughts and long term thoughts on it. There seems to be stock issues everywhere outside of AliExpress, it's a Chinese company so that's to be expected, but an $80-$90 controller with all this functionality sounds like an absolute banger if it's durable long term; honestly I don't know how they're selling it for that price at all, even eBay resellers are sub-$150, and that's still a considerable price given the functionality. Hopefully stock issues get resolved, because this is one of the most interesting controllers I've seen. Edit: Amazon has it stocked again, I guess this controller's availability fluctuates, $95 currently. As for the controller and company here, things are interesting. This is by far the best hall effect implementation yet. Dreamcast used hall sensors but they were made in such a way where the more modern stick-click design would not work, and the PS3 hall-ish sensors, they were actually an inductance-based system, were overly complicated and required additional ICs to drive the circuit and amplify or process the signal for the microcontroller to read; hell, the PS3 sticks were misunderstood for the longest time, everyone assumed there was a hall sensor in the pot housing, but it was actually just a PCB with some traces for the inductance circuit. This design, though, is clearly just a minimal change solution for the modern stick housing, and cuts the Dreamcasts' four sensor per stick design (which Ben Heck has replicated recently) down to two sensors per stick like the PS3 sticks, but with actual hall effect sensors, which are arguably better than the inductance circuits the PS3 sticks had. As for the button mechanisms, I don't understand them at all, sure we all want mechanical switches for controllers, but this is just a spring box that actuates the same rubber dome contact switch, other than button springback, it does nothing special, it's implementation just about invalidates the original concept. APG would be useful for repetitive tasks, like farming in games, or how we used to AFK games by rubber banding a stick. No companion software is actually huge though, so many of these expanded feature set controllers, not remap paddles but actual complex features, seem to always have companion software; which personally I don't mind, something as complex as the FlyDigi Apex 2 for example honestly needs some kind of companion software for it's expanded feature set, but on something simpler like the KK2P no companion software makes sense. Though there is an important caveat, the non-pro variation. Non-pro gets the older style of grip texture, which seems to be worse as far as I can tell. No NFC for Amiibo support, though NFC on PC could have cool uses if you're emulating anything that uses NFC, plus niche uses on PC. From what I can interpret, which I could be incorrect as there seems to be Chinese-English translation mistakes, Android (Not iOS?) and PC don't get gyro support; the 'gyro aim assist' feature is missing, but what even is gyro aim assist, I take this as meaning stick + gyro where stick is coarse control and gyro is fine control, as it is in most shooters that support gyro, but if this feature is missing wouldn't all gyro features be missing as well, it's a confusing situation that needs to be cleared up. Along without the option for no deadzones or sensor tuning. APG I'm not sure about, I don't remember seeing it mentioned in their marketing materials, but this seems like it'd be an advanced 'pro' feature like sensor tuning. For $20 less, still a solid controller, but an important thing to mention when going over feature sets. Now the interesting part of Gulikit, they're supplying their stick design to other companies. Aya has at least one of their handheld PCs using it, Gulikit is making replacement Steam Deck stick kits, Gulikit has made Joy Con (and I assume 3DS circle pad and potentially PSP/Vita sticks are lumped here as well) replacements using hall sensors. Gulikit also provides replacement spring boxes, a button kit to swap the KK2/KK2P layout from Switch to Xbox. Who knows what else they have in store for the future. Gulikit is taking their shit _extremely_ seriously, it's not just that they're trying to combat drift in one product, they're attempting to do so within the market. Which leads me to believe, since they seemingly already have Valve replacement parts, this might push other companies to switch to hall sensors. I wouldn't be surprised if the Elite Series 3 has hall sticks as their next big move. I wouldn't be surprised if Gulikit replaces ALPS in a lot of the Chinese manufacturers, as Gulikit themselves is a Chinese manufacturer; hell, this might push ALPS to get their shit together. I wouldn't be surprised if by next gen, hall sticks are quality standard. Gulikit could be making some big, big moves right now. Gulikit also seems to be on board with right to repair, which may be a significant push for more repairable products within the industry Honestly, I think there's even potential to improve further. The sticks for example, they use a typical off-the-shelf metal housing with the stick gimbal. The third cause of drift could be fixed with a slightly different design, as the centering spring design really isn't all that great. A coil spring is meant for compression, sometimes extension, but never really axial bending or planar skewing. A torsional spring on the gimbal axes itself would be better, though a bit harder to implement and not really a swappable component if someone wants a heavier or lighter stick; you'd have to swap the gimbal itself, not just a spring, as the design would more than likely be based on plastic compliance. Besides a more complex design, manufacturability should be relatively the same, but this would potentially far extend the spring life of a stick. Plus there's potential for this design to evolve how stick click is implemented, if we can move the switch to be under the stick, this would be better than having the switch opposite of one of the pots, this could also prevent the skewing issue, as the current design actuates the switch while keeping the pot rigid, and could potentially make switch click easier to actuate while the stick itself is tilted. There's potential there, I'd be curious to see if Gulikit keeps evolving their design. There's also potential for evolution of the implementation of capacitive sticks, as Valve's Steam Deck's implementation is a bit jank. There's also potential for other components, like evolving the spring boxes to be actual mechanical switches, etc. Personally, one thing I want to see in product evolution, is the move from soldered stick housings to clip-in housings, that way if anything does happen _anyone_ can replace it without the need for soldering equipment and skills, this could further revolutionize things. The company's future has a high potential for being very interesting, and there's a lot of potential to see how big moves like this affect the wider industry, not just from Gulikit but other companies doing atypical designs as well.

But also keep in mind what I've typed out could also be condensed into a five minute video, text as a format is long and inefficient, fully scripted videos can easily become a page per minute depending on the content. It might seem long, but a lot of people also don't go into depth on topics beyond a sentence or two, and the original content rarely fully covers topics like this mostly due to time constraints involving the viewer's attention spans; people should be enticed to have intelligent conversation, sadly nearly every platform doesn't promote the idea of it. For example, no content creator, hell nobody promoting the product on any platform, seems to point out the $50 variant of this controller, which is an important thing to point out when people are potentially buying this. For another example, nobody doing content on this controller specifically goes into detail of how hall sensors work, how previous implementations worked and what their downsides are, and how this implementation is arguably the best for the stick housings we currently use. For yet another example, nobody's really talking about the way forward from here, topics like further improvements, topics like how this company is supplying parts to other vendors and supplying repair parts themselves, how them being a vendor might affect the market, etc. Conversation on nearly every platform has become, for lack of a better term, unintelligent, due to a variety of reasons. Intelligent conversation is also important for societal reasons, and stifling it leads to less than favorable outcomes, yet people don't want to engage in it due to platforms enticing people not to do so.

They should make the stick modules for the thrustmaster eswap pro as they are all sold out and you can only buy them as a packet deal with extra triggers, dpad, and handle colors for like 40$. Their durability plus price point for these would be S tier.
@StormEagle5 Жыл бұрын
I would like to see this, but I can't see them being made with thrustmaster's approval. Thrustmaster's model for the eswap is to get you to keep rebuying sticks. Giving people hall effect magnet sticks to just plug in could kill that revenue stream.

@@CandarianGaming Does it have to be in Switch Pro mode for the gyro to work on PC? Every Nintendo/Playstation controller I own requires the use of controller emulators like DS4Windows, ReWASD, or the ones built into Steam to get gyro aiming. @@GigaWojak The controller in Xinput mode does have a built in gyro feature but it's not good. Just a very limited right stick motion emulator with 3 settings. This has been in my Amazon wish list for ages but only so I can keep an eye out for an Xbox version. If they make an xbox/ps4 version without paddles you can perhaps use an extreme rate dawn kit or something to add back buttons. I haven't tried their Xbox one been using their dawn remap kit for about 3 years on ps4 and it works really well. Downsides being having to take your controller apart to install/fix, not being able to easily swap it to new controllers and the ribbon cable seems to bend and start to mess up after a few years of owning it for me (cable costs $5 though)

Hey cuda, if you ever get the chance, I would seriously recommend reviewing the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog (the analog part is very important there. You can essentially bind your WASD to controller inputs so that your keypress isn't either 100% or 0% all the time, but gradually increases as you press the key. I tried it out on some driving games as well as a couple FPS games, and even though it's expensive, I do not regret the purchase at all. Edit: and I would use the APG for either zero tick farms in Minecraft, or really hard fighting game infinite combos (cheating, but would be fun to try once or twice)

Things that I've loved about this controller since I bought it. - no deadzones feel amazing. Its the first time for me using a thumbstick like this and it feels so surreal. - The thumbstick texture feels so good - the buttons feel clicky but not annoying - the triggers feel great and weighty This is what I dislike - on PC, it defaults to using the - and + buttons for home and menu buttons.

Used the macro feature to unlock unlimited continues in omega v, a shooter. I just left it running. With the brook adapter works great on Series x, let’s you play Xbox one as well and I use it on Xbox 360 with the same Brooke adapter. With those adapters the only thing I cant use it on is PS five games but it does work on the PS five for PS4 games. I like it better than the elite controller in certain ways and own elite controller as well. For twinstick shooters there’s no competition. I use it For a variety of games and platforms. I prefer trigger stops like the elite has but you get used to the short trigger pull if you set sensitivity high. Aside from that the only other downside was there’s no paddles on the back but it’s not a feature I used a lot of the elite anyway. Need more time to test the durability. The analogues and triggers are plastic similar to the razor wolverine but it feels like a much higher quality plastic it doesn’t feel cheap like that controller you could almost mistake it for metal if you didn’t check closely. It feels like a pretty heavy duty controller and the rubberized grip rivals the elite. It’s a really satisfying controller and find myself using it a lot over the elite. Mt main intended use was for PC on emulation for PlayStation 2 games and shit like that and for the switch but I find myself using it on everything lately

I have this controller and strictly play Warzone with it on PC. The sticks and triggers are amazing. I am also a keyboard and mouse player. I switch on and off. The sticks feel like a mouse that's how sensitive they are. The one knock against this controller are the ABXY buttons, they did slightly stick. But there was a firmware and CPU update recently and now they are actually over sensitive, usually noticeable while in game menus. Overall I definitely recommend this controller. Will definitely be buying the Xbox adapter for it.
