Cant believe this worked thank you. Just for anyone else reading this. I am doing this for OSX 10.11 on a 2009 20" iMac. The date now is 5/26/24 and that's what I set the date for in terminal and now it looks like the OS is installing, no longer getting that error message.

Today is the 15 of September 2019. I'm currently installing OS X El Capitan on an older MacBook Pro 2012 Model 9,2 as part of a testing phase for my client's computer. I was literally stuck and stumped about why this was happening in the first place. Found this video via Google after typing in the error message and followed the information on the video and BAM! Like clockwork it worked perfectly. Open up Terminal and type the following, "date 0202020216" without the quotation marks. Nice.

I know this is an old video, but it depends on the date of release DMG when creating the USB drive, i tried numerous dates, and non of them worked. It has to be after the release date of the OS and upto the supported date from apple

I just thought this thing happen due to the mac os security starting from 10.9 Mavericks: The date verified is from the release date of the current version to the release date of the next version. So I just keep the solution of this thing simple every time I install mac os: I search for the release date of mac os version I'm willing to install, then set the system date of macbook/imac/mac pro to the 1st January of the next year, i.e. when I'm willing to install Mac OS High Sierra, I use this command in recovery mode Terminal: date 0101010118 = 1st of January 2018 at 01:01. High Sierra was released on late 2017, so I use date of early 2018 Thanks for uploading this video, perhaps more and more people out there know about this thing after watching this video

I just got my Mac Pro working with Yosemite after a lot of bugs. I tried upgrading to El Capitan but it got caught in an install loop - normally you can go back, not this time! So I used Terminal, changed the date to 2015 et voila, working system! :o) Overall it seems snappier now, better memory access and better SSD handling, plus I can install DaVinci Resolve now!

Type in "sudo" before the date command. This will give you superuser access and will require an admin PW to execute the command.

Thank you. I'm currently factory-resetting my old mac to sell it. Its very frustrating how awfully useless the mac error messages are... Also one other thing, it seems we need to have an active internet connection in order to get past the error. I guess its either verifying with apple servers or its downloading the OS files.

Got my sub second time back here because im downgrading from montery to Seirra becomes my 09 macbook is NOT a fan of unsupported software lol so this seems to be the easiest route I've tried the open core legacy patches but there's so many applications graphics that don't work its just easier to revert and I've heard good things of seirra so here's to hoping it runs smoother because high seirra wasn't my favorite but it could be diffrent now since I'm running off of a ssd compared to the hdd it had so thank you so much! This really helps!
