Chelsea's arc demonstrates perfectly how low self-esteem destroys relationships. First she chose Jimmy for validation rather than actual love, but then nothing he does will ever be enough to prove he loves her because she doesn't believe she's worthy of love. So she constantly badgers him and demands more proof all the while accusing him of not loving her. It's crazy making and pushes hum away. Then they make up and she thinks that's passion and she works very hard to believe that they are living the fairytale love story. I really hope they don't get married and she goes to therapy...

Once they gained access to social media she found out that her fiancee wasn't really attracted to her at first sight, and Jimmy DID make a lot of weird remarks about other women that a dude who's in love with his girlfriend wouldn't make. I get it. But if someone is acting in a way that drives you nuts with insecurity, there's absolutely no excuse for you to become emotionally abusive instead of leaving. Jeremy and Sarah Ann are truly made for each other. They’re shady as hell. As much as I don’t care for Laura, they disrespected her and they DID cross the line. Sarah shouldn’t have DM’ed him and he shouldn’t have acknowledged her or at least respectfully declined. Downright shady and I will die on that hill. AD had every right to ask Sarah those questions at the BBQ.

I just think that Chelsea has a very anxious attachment style, which is being triggered by her past crappy exes who cheated on her, but also by Jimmy not knowing how to calm her down/validate her at the beginning of the relationship. I think it's sad that the creators put her on this show when it is clearly so bad for her mental health

I haven't really paid very close attention to the other 5 season recaps so I don't really know if this is typical for the producers. Things like paradise are kinda fun to see all the drama because I think the majority of those folks are looking for clout. But this feels like the producers went out of their way to look for toxic people and vulnerable ones to see what happens. This can't be good for anyone who was already on the edge.

@@schokococoa575 i actually think it would help her calm down if she gets validated early on. You can see their arguments starting with little remarks from her, that seem innocent but actually imply deeper needs (can i trust you, am i attractive to you, do you love me). Jimmy doesn't pick up on these underlying needs and answers very factually and defensive. She then spirals into worse anxiety, and her behavior gets bigger and bigger. Is he responsible for her behavior? No, def not. But chelsea seems to really need a partner who picks up on her cues and responds to those so that she doesn't spiral. And she really could benefit from effective communication skills... They are just not a good match.

Chelsea is the epitome of bait and switch. She comes off as emotionally stable and cool in the pods but selects the guy she knows was into another woman and now needs constant compliments, affirmations and he’s gotta be attached to her hip. She’s a stage 5 clinger, if this gets better it’ll take an act of God!
