He's not there yet, but Solar Panel T2 is pretty good too. It has an antenna on top with the little red light that you can see from pretty far away.... In early game play you can line those up and keep your bearings....

Wow, that was excellent! I knew crater was hard, but didn't realise it was quite this hard. I'm glad you did this new run (although I enjoyed the previous one too). Looking forward to the next episode. Honey is the worst, eggplant is second worst. Then Squash/space-food, then beans, then super-food.

Thank you so much! Oh man this place is hard on normal but on hardcore it's a nightmare lol! I always get the ranking of eggplant squash and mushroom mixed up.

Oh OK so eggplant is worse than mushroom for some reason I thought mushroom was bottom wrung. All I knew for certain was beans are best haha.

Well that was half an hour of heart-in-the-mouth stuff!! You’re very brave to try that site in hard mode. However, first day past, and if you can find that second bunker, surely you will get more goodies. Good start all things considered.

You'll find the second bunker if you walk around the crater while staying at the same elevation as your base - barely above the smoke. It's a huge one so you'll find a bunch of food and seeds. Though the main bottleneck in this location is the aluminium. You need it both for equipment and for food growers. And there is no aluminium in this biome except from the meteors and chests.

@@copperbonsai Darn, I completely misremembered the topology of this place. You're right, it's actually quite deep into the crater almost on the opposite side of the escape pod.

@@Kabanist Super easy to do!! I spent waaaaaaaay too much time trying to find it the first time starting in this location. I probably went past it 6 times easy (maybe more actually) just trying to locate it.

I *might* have had a bit of a challenge finding his second base...

@@7CGames its smack in the middle of the space in the rock walls facing the "void desert", right in the middle of the crater wall. Best suggestion is to take a room and door with you and just go up and down the wall until you see a large ledge and then follow it to your left (when facing the crater middle) until you find the stairs.

You inspired me to have an attempt at crater on hardcore... well, half a dozen attempts. But I kept dying (of hunger, or oxygen, or not being able to build a door because that one resource just isn't anywhere to be found). One attempt was going great until I got to the second bunker and I couldn't find any space-food inside. I actually had better luck (but still no success) when I gave up on descending into the crater entirely and went through the cave to the arches biome or the zeolite cave biome.

The RNG in this section is brutal! I've done some off camera messing around and sometimes there's no iron, sometimes there's no silicon, not to mention sometimes the chests give you the iridium and food you need sometimes they're full of magnesium lol. This is definitely the hardest place to do a hardcore play through!

@@7CGames You'll find it easy enough, since you can't miss the waterfall 😁😎 and the wreck is right behind it. It's a beautiful spot when the trees grow up around it.

It didn't help me at all. Couldn't find any food inside, and I died of hunger before my multiple T2 vegetubes with good plants inside had unlocked any food growers.

@@carlkenner4581 You're not alone. In my new hardcore run I'm having trouble finding food too. Been setting up my O2 and Pressure like a psyco to try and get the food grower.

Sometimes I just carry 3 iron, 2 titanium, and a silicon. I build the compartment breathe, then break it down and continue. Rebuilding it as needed.

I was thinking about that but I get gunshy about tearing them down. Like what if I need a box in that spot later lol. Always good to have the 3, 2, 1 on you though until you can breathe.

I took the challenge. Got to food and water collector without leaving the crater/zeolite mine. I think there is some luck involved. Also helped by some of the storms dropped aluminium.

I just died in a hardcore world with a crater start. I had an eggplant at 65% when I starved.

Yeah in hardcore you practically NEED beans lol. it's always heartbreaking when you know you're just a few min away from being ok but the food won't be done in time to save you haha!

What if you can get out over the wall and get to the Waterfall Area?? 2 gold chests.... Other chests.... That wreck behind the Waterfall is pretty good..... Pretty good resources on the ground in the Waterfall area...... Just a thought....

@@7CGames doesn't make a massive difference except that ice is easier to get at. I'm trying that now and find my progress was just as good sticking to the crater.

There's 4 Gold chests in the Waterfall biome, and you even get Algae growing freely, there. It's the new 'super-easy' start.

@@7CGames Hope the wall? There's no ice wall between the Crater and the Waterfall biome. Just a sandy ridge...

And you can also get through the crater mine, you don't have to wait. Have done this start, and it's all about knowing when to get out.
