Yep. We had a crazy bull calf- did the exact same thing.. he’s escaped twice when we tried to move him from paddock to paddock- right through the barred wire fence.... chased him all over the yard and through the woods... needless to say.. he’s a goner. We took him to sale yesterday. Since we have to do rotational grazing, he’s not for us. Our others come to feed, move as we needed to.. except him.. so no more crazy bull calf for us and we were very glad of that too!! Glad it worked out for y’all

I had a cow that acted just like that. I tried to tame as some are saying below and it cost me a hospital visit. You did right by taking to processor.

I totally get it...we had horses for years, & never had any trouble.....ever, but I had a little incident riding one day & had my daughter with me....luckily no one got hurt, but it scared me bc it could have easily ended up being really bad, & I immediately sold them all & have not looked back. You realize quickly how powerless you are, & just typing this & thinking about made my anxiety level go up!

My husband, a long time cowboy had a cow like that once. It was so wild that even after they got it trailered it managed to jump through that tiny 2 foot space above the gate in the trailer and escape. They had to go back out and rope it again. Cows like that are best in the freezer where they cant escape into anything but your belly.

Most little dogs don't know they are little. I have 4 chihuahuas, and they think they are guard dogs and would defend me against ANYTHING. Jemma is one of those 😃

You did the right thing!! When they're born that way, most of the time, they Never improve in temperament. My Daddy had one that came in at around 1400 lbs. She went through the side of the barn during one of her fitfull episodes! Two days later she got loaded up and went to the processor. That's when Daddy bought our first deep freeze!! Keep doing what your doing! Your teaching real world stuff!!!

Been in your shoes a few times! Had a crazy 1200 lbs cow, that knocked my Mother down loading her. I took her to the sale barn about 5 miles from the sale barn I had a blow out on the trailer, no spare. My parents brought a tire and tools for me. Our crazy cow was so excited she was slinging her poop and pee filed tail around and wasn't sure if we could change the tire with her jumping around. When I go her to the sale barn I felt just like you, very relieved! Have a good day!

Many years ago I read a Stockman Grass Farmer article that explained that the forehead whorl is an indicator of the calmness or craziness of cattle. A whorl centered on the forehead is a calm cow. An off center whorl below the eye line is a crazy cow. Keep posting your videos!

I've never seen one kill their calves but they can be very dangerous to people.not not a good choice for breeding stock.

They don’t purposely kill their calves but we’ve had ones like this that are so jumpy when a person comes by that they trample their own or other calves. Never keep crazy, they’re only good for the freezer.

I was one of the folks that thought she'd calm down to the feed bucket. It's unfortunate that she couldn't settle down. Not a bloodline to continue. That Gemma is something else. I know your dogs are not cattle dogs but they did good. I'm glad no body got hurt and no property damaged,well other people's property anyway.... From my experience, the crazier a farm animal is, the better they taste. I think it's the satisfaction of knowing that you'll never have to go through that hassle anymore. Can't wait to see the dressed weight and the first meal. Take it easy and be safe.

I have been there. Bought a few Long Horns some years back. Found out then that cows are as good jumpers as HORSES! They all jumped a 7 foot corral fence! Then ran through an outdoor birthday party. Thank goodness before all the kids showed up! Oh my gosh could you imagine what could have happened? Glad it worked out for you. Good neighbor! I lost my temper too when mine took off. Friggin cows! Yay beef!

Daniel I get why you lost it with that crazy heifer. She could have hurt someone really bad it was a good thing Houston wasn't out there with you. I know you wouldn't have let him in the pen with her but he could have been standing right there on the outside where she went over.
