I was sorta just listening to the playthrough in the background, and I gotta say, it sounds like the one ranger who came up and delivered supplies to you was hinting that you were supposed to be taking pictures every time something weird happened, basically keeping a camera in hand at all times instead of the bear spray. Reason why you were ignored was because you only had the one photo instead of a bunch.

I wonder what would happen if you didn't tell Chris about the skull so he never sent someone to go check on you and then you wouldn't have gotten interrupted when trying to save the hiker. because there were three dialog options that popped up right before that guy knocked on the door that said - stay right where you are- which may prompt you to go out of your lookout to find the hiker on foot, -make a run- and -what does it look like-. You don’t have an option to not tell Connor about the skull. If you try to sleep, it’ll say that you need to talk to Connor. Plus, Billy (the ranger) would still come because he’s there to drop off supplies, plus you have to tell him about the skull anyways

There are rumors that this takes place in Mount Rainier National Park in Washington which as it says in the game, is one of the biggest forests in the Pacific Northwest. There is evidence of this in the game, in the training video 36:40 it shows a mountain that looks very similar to Mt. Rainier. Also there is a park called ironhorse 2 hours away from Mt. Rainier national park. So this is some info if you want to go down there but it is not reccomended.
