Marcus, there's a lot of important details that this new version of vol. 1 lacks, for example in the THINK principle, K standed for Kill yourself, because the video was made by alternates. Same with the "exception" of trying to execute an alternate, it is impossible to kill them. In the call of Torres and Mark, the original version depicted Torres laughing after convincing Mark to go to his house, which shows how alternates use psychological warfare.

The fact that Alex omitted the original “k” in the think principle makes me sad lol! That was one of the most effective punches in the whole series, as well as the eerie “nothing is worth the risk” segment in the operator training video. I’m curious to know why some of the series’s best moments were scraped. Those two instances were the most iconic for vol.1, so to scrape them kind of takes any true memorability from it-especially since a lot of analog horrors are employing concepts similar to alternates nowadays. I think this was already pointed out by people in the comments, but I feel like the original version of the first volume is way creepier than the remake/restored one. Little details like the way the THINK principle part originally ended or the recorded footage of the cameras was way more unnerving in the first version. For those who wanted to know if the toddler stress assessment video accompaniment actually has some effects to toddlers, heres my story. I put my 3 year old sister to watch the toddler stress assessment and she reacted neutural to all of the sections except one, the second section and the first video. She covered her eyes and shrieked slightly and asked "what is this?", honestly not what i was expecting but okay lol. I gave her snacks as a reward for actually wanting to and just not trying to escape, so uh probably not.

Idk if you realised later on but I'm commenting after watching this part... But in the basement scene of Vol.2 the intruder shows on the screen and a few seconds later it flashes a bunch of images, within those images is a hanging woman, it's safe to assume that that woman is the same woman from the Toddler Stress Assessment tape and why would that show up for Adam? Adam was the baby that went missing during that tape, when Jonah yells at Adam saying "I wish we never looked for your ____ because she is dead and gone" he's talking about his mother, at the time of his mother's death, Adam was too young to remember anything so he may think the alternates took his mother or something when in reality she offed herself at the sight of her missing baby. So Adam has had interactions with alternates/the intruder before when he disappeared from his Crib as a baby... But why does he not succumb to M.A.D? Well as is stated at 1:03:35 "It is not difficult to avoid, however. The patient must actively try to seek it out" and what does Jonah say to Adam? "These things have taken so much away from us get you still run to them every chance you get"... Adam has been seeking the source of M.A.D, alternates. But these theories only partially hold up as Vol.4 flipped absolutely everything we know about Adam on it's head.
