Also, I find it important to note: The first strain, with the eye contact, is curable through removing the eyes *in the first two minutes only*. After that, you're gone, lost, done, and getting paralyzed, step by step. Within less than 5 minutes, you're completely infected, and are either dead or a threat to everyone around you. They were doomed from the moment the first strain showed up.

Honestly,I never really comment on videos or anything,but this is,in my opinion the most terrifying analog horror,not in a scaring way,but psychologically terrifying,the symptoms and the way it spreads are ultimately depressing and detrimental to think about or to think about the experience of it,how it essentially has no cure,and besides that,the moment you get it,you have two options equally horrifying. An added layer of horror to having your eyeballs have to be surgically removed within the first stage if you want to survive - you would have to have them removed without painkillers because no anesthesia would take effect fast enough for them to remove it before the first stage passes... Whether you have your eyes surgically removed, or they explode out of your head, it sounds like a very painful way to go😢

This gives me feeling that the virus is less "spreading" so much as it is "activating". The idea would be to "prime" everyone with various inoculous parts of the virus encoded into dna and then hit them with a specific stimulus to break the parts down and assemble with other genetic structures from other parts if they are nearby. Ever get that uncomfortable feeling when looking too closely at an IR laser or the sun, even if not directly? making the parts ALL break down easily under a specific pattern and wavelength of IR radiation that the resulting eye mutation could replicate would be a rather insidious infection method. It just suddenly starts pouring out of the eyeball lymphatic and circulatory systems and echoing off thounds of dormant "sleeper cells".

I'm normally not great at theorizing with these things but I do think it's interesting to note that the virus is called the Medusa virus, and the phrase "may god help us all" keeps being repeated The myth of Medusa is pretty well-known, being cursed by Athena for her affair with Poseidon, and while the initial inspiration for the name is obviously the whole 'don't make eye contact' aspect, I do think it's cool how many other aspects of the myth are incorporated into the virus. Medusa was just one of the gorgons, the virus has many forms. Poseidon was a god of the sea, and the virus travels through the drains. Athena was a goddess of wisdom and war, and the virus seems to deny all possible explanation or understanding. Even the unconventional method of its spreading can sorta be tied back to Greek mythology- Athena sprang fully-formed from Zeus's brow, paralleling the initial method of infection

Then it spread by a sweet-smelling gas in the air, requiring people to never leave their homes or breathe the air-something that people naturally do. Then it spreads via a sound that makes you psychotically dangerous to yourself, so you have to avoid ever hearing anything, which is something people can’t just turn off. something i noticed that im not seeing many people pick up on is that in the last section (during the animated scenes) it seems to take place several years later. during the discovery report at the beginning it says that it was recorded in 1988 however during the last tv broadcast (it can be hard to see because of the angles) it says that "no new discoveries have been made in the last few years" it also says that "77% of the population is infected as of May 1st, 2000". i could be misinterpreting, but from what i can tell the events of this video have taken place over the course of 12 years

Easy solution. Wear sunglasses with very dark glasses. You can't make eye contact if the other can't see your eyes. Eye contact has to go both ways sooo

I kinda like the Greek myth compilation effect this virus has. You've got the eye contect paralysis of the virus' namesake, and the birds acting as sirens of sorts, in that hearing their call lures you to your imminent death, unless you're restrained. Pretty cool so far.

I agree he definitely makes them more fun to watch, although this analog horror kinda fell flat in my opinion. They pretty much made the most awesome/unique vector of virus transmission take a back seat 1/3 of the way into the video by making the virus go airborne and infect through the lungs. It would’ve been cool if they rather had the virus evolve other ways to make you open your eyes to infection. Sorry for the rant :/

This virus is pretty interesting, it’s doing everything possible to either force humans to contract it or be reduced to living a life akin to solitary confinement, like Marcus said it’s targeting the five senses, but it also seems like it’s inspired by Greek mythology. The Medusa reference is obvious, but they’re also mentioning sirens, and the smell *might* be some obscure Greek mythos thing, but I’d have to research that to say for certain, there’s also the allusions to Mandela catalogue which seems more like heartfelt references.
