16:44 true, most carnivorous dinosaurs probably didn't (and couldn't) make much noice. Especially the grand roars we hear in Jurassic Park - they simply didn't have the vocal track necessary for such roars. Instead, large carnivores could create very low rumbling sounds (closed-mouth vocalisation) that travelled for many kilometres and would not be heard by humans, but _felt_ . Raptors could most likely make noices somewhat similar to what we hear in Jurassic Park, but they would not be used while stalking prey. In fact, I think it would be more terrifying if games made dinos shut up, so you _know_ that you are being hunted, but you have no idea where your killer is and when it'll strike.

What I think would be horrifying is if the dinosaurs were super chatty with each other, much like modern birds, but as soon as they sensed your presence they would hush up and begin hunting you. It would essentially make silence more terrifying than any sound could be!

Think of stuff like ravens, and chickens. They cluck and click their beaks. It's not that they "Wouldn't" make noise, especially for animals such as raptors. But more importantly, they could still make "loud" vocalizations, like roars. Not in like the "Jurassic Park bla, bla bla bla." But more like a crocodilian bellow, or something like hawks, in a way. It is likely that they would still make noises as they hunt, especially with pack dinosaurs, to communicate with the rest of the pack. But again, they too would be mostly silent.

I feel like a game like this would've benefited from fewer sounds and more animated jumpscare "traps". Such as staring out the window too long and a raptor jumps thru and kills u or having raptors run past the fence or waiting too long in zones you should have moved on from spawn a dino to kill you if you linger too long. There was way too many sounds imo to the point they got annoying and felt like it was just obnoxious ambiance. NGL tho, the lightning showing were the spino is was AWESOME! I feel like that would make an excellent minigame where the flashlight doesnt work and you must run and hide from the spino during a storm where you only catch a glimpse of it with the lightning.

@@IGP I am hopeful they decide to change stuff up but in my experience with demos they don't tend to deviate much when compared to the first game. Honestly, it feels more like a "Baby dev's first game" where they were really trying to get the horror vibe down but overdid it. That and I don't think the dev has much animation experience given why most characters/animals barely moved. All in all, if the dev is really keen on making a good game they'll look into practicing with other avenues such as animation and environmental ambience.

I can confirm that Dinosaurs likely didn't roar loudly while hunting, because what animal would purposely scare off prey? They have to silently stalk them until the perfect moment, where they can pounce on and end the prey swiftly and quickly, that is how Dinosaurs hunted.

16:55 if it was REALLY realistic the sounds would stop right before the predators attacked. As long as you hear a lot of noise around you it means you’re safe, in general, most animals tend to make “I’m here” calls so that they can avoid confrontation. The second they stop is when it gets terrifying

We’re also large enough that most midsized predators, even dinosaurs, would probably leave us be for fear of injury (even if we couldn’t fight back they don’t know that) it would be pack predators you’d have to worry about as well as any large predator that comes across you. It wouldn’t chase you down, too small for the effort, but it might take a bite if you come close without realizing.

Since some birds can mimic what if Raptors would mimic their prey to lure others in kinda like how the Predator does. no you're not a dumbass. "safe house" and "house safe" have two identical words but mean two completely different things depending on where you put each word. a house that is safe isn't the same as a safe that's in a house. how a sentence is formed impacts on what the sentence implies and too often people put words together without rhyme or reason. same thing with double negatives. people way too often use it incorrectly. so yeah, i'm very much with you on this.

Typically predators, especially pack-hunting predators, only make noise when they feel supremely confident. For wolves, as an example, they're really sneaky right up until the chase starts. Then they start calling out as a way of letting everybody else in the pack know where they are and what they're doing, as well as providing moral support to everybody else. For these raptors, they're probably not afraid of you, but it's dark, and night vision or not, it's handy to know where your packmates are when you're closing in, so you know they've got your back.

A Spino without the spines would be a Baryonyx or perhaps a Suchomimus, although they are often described as less aquatic than Spinos (the jury is still out on how aquatic Spinos were as well but I digress). Other swimming reptiles you might be thinking of are Mosasaurus and Plesiosaurus.

While not the most realistic-feeling dinosaurs, this game pulled off the terror of being stalked by a predator you can't see pretty damn well. Some better AI and more dynamic gameplay would really polish it off!
