The funny thing about that maintenance guy's whole speech about "some fires are meant to burn" is the fact that he's right. Many plant species especially up in the Rockies have evolved to be tolerant to wildfires and actually do depend on it for reproduction, such as Pine trees whose seeds won't open unless exposed to high amounts of heat.

There's a couple things I thought you'd like to have been made aware of. Firstly, you managed to escape the cultist without having to hide the second time. Normally you're meant to hide in the porta potty when he chases you down the tower, then he'll go look for you in the shed, and you use that as an opportunity to make a break for it the other direction. You managed to somehow reach the escape before he caught up to you, like he was supposed to. Secondly, there actually IS technically a wrong direction to go when you're escaping from the cultist. If you head down the Lacey Trail, the direction you went to check the first campsite, a BUNCH of cultists emerge from the woods and surround you before killing you.
@thatothertrashcan Жыл бұрын
He actually escaped because he went too fast. I think he hit the second trigger zone before dying as he was supposed to. He got this speed because he was moving diagonally with w and d, or w and a keys; IGP actually mentions it earlier in the video. Its a common glitch and used a lot in speedruns of games. CSGO movement players actually use this in kz maps as well to get more speed before a jump.
@devin9594 Жыл бұрын
@@thatothertrashcan I knew that he had reached the escape trigger, but I figured it was that the cultist had somehow gotten stuck or simply didn't catch him in time(which seemed possible since it's kind of a newer game so exploits and little unintended stuff like that are found pretty regularly). I was surprised though since I watched the cultist in other videos run stupid fast, but I didn't think too much about exactly how IGP built up the speed to escape because I was honestly not really paying attention, assuming that the cultist would grab him well before he did. I know that the Source engine that CSGO is on is pretty renowned for having that well know physics glitch to build up speed; funny that Unity ends up having something fairly similar.

@devin9594 Жыл бұрын
@@particularstimuli9507 Yeah, that's the one point that they didn't touch on that I find extremely weird. I also watched Kubz Scouts video, and I think he said something along the lines of it would have been a lot scarier, if at the end of the game as the credits rolled, they showed a real picture that had supposedly been taken of the cultists across the lake, would've lended some kind of credence to the story, or if nothing else provided a nice spine chill to leave off on, plus giving a reason to the picture being taken at all instead of it being kind of meaningless in the end. They could have made him drop the camera off the tower, or accidentally leave it behind, or just say that even with the picture nobody believed him. To have the picture not brought up at all afterwards seems odd.

@samarmstrong6569 Жыл бұрын
He had heavy clothing on and what I assume is something covering his face. Anyways, if he was crazy enough to be terrorizing some poor guy at a fire watch he was either insane or intoxicated both of which lessen the effectiveness of less lethals. It’s the same efficacy as using it against bears. Sure, bear spray will stop a curious or agitated bear, but if that bear is determined to attack you, bear spray isn’t going to stop it.
@The_MickLick Жыл бұрын
@@samarmstrong6569 if pepper spray reaches the eyes, they won't be able to see. a spray above or near the eyes will get into the eyes. if the stream doesn't directly hit, any misting around the main stream is nothing to shrug at. it also irritates the respiratory system and mucous membranes in the nose and mouth as well as the eyes, so a shot in the face, even through a cloth, with bear spray, would certainly stop an attacker and also would stop a bear. determined or not, blindness renders an attacker pretty much useless and the pain also is enough to literally deter a bear. i don't think you have much experience with pepper spray or bear spray. it certainly works. as the OP said, the guy got a face full of bear spray that would be in his eyes and he would be breathing through the cloth and absorbing through the skin. it's literally capsaicin in its most concentrated form. it is absolutely like eating something extremely hot or even touching it to the lips or eyes.
@samarmstrong6569 Жыл бұрын
@@The_MickLick a study showed that bear spray only stopped brown bear attacks 33% of the time (outsideonline). Pepper spray is less effective against drunk or otherwise intoxicated people. As a resident of Washington State, I feel the need to verify that this is a great premise for a game set in Washington, but there are several plot holes that totally give it away. For example, the narrator said he was transferred from Iron Horse State Park, it was a 2 hour drive, and he stopped at a diner in or near Roseburg on the way. Roseburg is 3 hours from Iron Horse State Park *minimum* and the only fire lookout towers (even past towers) near Roseburg are 1) in National parks, not state parks, and 2) *between* Iron Horse and Roseburg, not past Roseburg on his way from Iron Horse. Also, camping permits aren't a thing for state parks in Washington, and if Billy is going to warn the player about bobcats, why wouldn't he also warn the player about coyotes, wolves, and cougars? We know from the technology and dialog that the game was set in the 1990s-2010s, and all these things were also true then. All the FtF games have plot holes like this. Several hours of homework "in the middle of summer" in game 1 with no explanation? A 14-year-old would be complaining about summer school to his two friends, who are apparently also have summer school, based on their texts, or at least bring it up. It's important to remember these games are based on SUBMITTED stories. Not necessarily true stories, and certainly not verified stories. Washington State forests are excellent settings for creepy cult stories as well as cryptid stories.

Fun fact: the phrase “over and out” makes no sense in terms of radiotelephony “Over” is used at the end of a transmission to let a responding station know the transmitting station is ready for a response while “Out” is used to to completely terminate a conversation. So saying “over and out” is like saying “I’m ready for your response and this conversation is over”

I am amazed at the amount of interactivity and everything else programmed into this for a short story like that. Even all these little things like updating the ranger computer, the radio, the phone, eating the food, using the bathroom etc. A lot of what you can do here is like Far Cry 5 level of world building. They must reuse at least some of this for other episodes maybe.

@@daniell5740 eh true crime stories prove otherwise lmao. Obviously some part of it can be true but exaggerated and added extra things in order to make a longer story and better horror game. There’s plenty of evidence of real cults, images and videos of weird af demonic stuff in forests found by KZbinrs who explore abandoned places or woods. Things like animals being decapitated, symbols drawn, etc. People who live in Oregon also confirmed that a lot of weird creepy stuff goes on in the forests and it’s known for it.

If you're talking about the other fears to fathom games then yes he did however since this is made mostly by one developer It takes quite a while to make each episode so you may have to scroll down quite a bit to find the last video on these games.

I've seen on another youtuber that plays Horror games, he played an old game DO YOU COPY... I don't know if you played it, but it so cool because it has multiple endings, you are a park ranger and you guide a lost hiker and is something supernatural in the park. And from what I understand there is a sequel to the game.. IT is so cool!
