Facts for those who didn't already know: 1. Dunkelosteous is a species of Devonian period fish called a placaderm. Dunkleosteous lived before the dinosaurs and thus did not co exsist with them or any other mesazoic era life forms. 2. The giant insects in this video didn't exist during the time periods mentioned in their cards. However, giant insects and arthropods did exist before in the carboniferous period before the dinosaurs. Back then, oxygen levels were higher than today, meaning insects grew much larger. Meganura was an egale sized dragonfly. There was a human sized centipede called Arthuropluera, and many more. Edit: assasin bugs did exist in the Middle jurassic. They just were not that large in real life, my apologizes 3. Dilophosaurus not only didn't spit venom or had venom at all, but it also didn't have the frill seen in the films and was much larger, growing to be 23 feet in length and weighing up to 400 kilograms! 4. Dinosaurs are awesome and always will be! 5. Science is awesome!

23:13 the Devonian period was around 410 million years ago. For reference, the first dinosaurs were around 245 million years ago. The first trees are around 360 million years old. So the Dunkleosteus swam the seas before the first trees. It was a placoderm or armored fish I believe. And if I remember correctly, its “teeth” are specialized jaw bones. And speaking of jaw bones, I believe that placoderms were one of the first vertebrates to have jaws at all. Anything interesting you may find in this game are likely going to come from time periods in this order Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Carboniferous, Permian, Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous, Paleogene, Neogene. Unless I got something wrong. There are periods before the Cambrian, but life in the precambrian is not very complex. Jellyfish and sponges being amongst the most complex life I believe.

@porkins41088 ай бұрын
Fun fact. I also believe it is the first recorded creature with a jaw which is made completely of bone
8 ай бұрын
Also worth noting for IGP; its bite was calculated to be 80,000 PSI. It's "teeth" are actually sharpened extensions of its jaw bones.
@joost11208 ай бұрын
That bite force is a big misconception. It's bite force was much, much lower, only around 4000 to 7000 pounds. The 80,000 PSI was calculated taking only the surface of it's front teeth into account. With that same logic, a common rat would have a bigger bite force than a saltwater crocodile because it's front teeth are so small. Heck, you could have the biggest bite force of any animal that ever lived if you removed your own teeth and replaced it with two needles meeting in the middle.
8 ай бұрын
@@joost1120 I had a feeling the number was over-exaggerated but wasn't sure. I mean, T. Rex has a bite of 19,000 PSI and it had an actual neck to make its bites more damaging.
@dragonforge44118 ай бұрын
If u all watch BCC documentarys Running With Dinosaurs with Zoologist Nigel Marvin, using fact, and research that brought back (through cgi) the extinct prehistoric animals to life from beginning of life to the Ice Age, scientists believed that Dunkleosteus bit is so strong to bit through other armored fish, it can bit through modern chain mail that is shark proof(which during the age of Amphibians, the first sharks appear not as apex but prey to Dunkleosteus, marine reptiles, to the last large marine predator that hunts them the Balisaurus, until the modern age only the killer whale is the only marine animal that hunts sharks.

Actually IGP, bugs 300 million years ago on record that we know of, only grew to a staggering 28 inches. Maybe even longer. There might be a bigger fossil that we haven't found yet deep in the earth,but when we do it could be even longer. The reason it is so hard to find bug fossils is because when they decompose, most of their body disintegrates. Although Trilobites do not fully decompose, allowing their shell to fossilize.

I like how at 35:45 it says the system can pump out 20 tons of water an hour like that's a lot. Water weights almost exactly 1 ton per cubic meter, so their system can only remove 20 cubic meters (about 706 cubic feet) per hour That's less than 1/4 the volume of a standard semi-trailer. In other words, the biggest leak the system could handle (where the pump rate would be equal to the flow of the leak) would be equivalent to a leak coming from a circular hole 6 inches in diameter with a flow rate of 1 foot/second In other other words, it can't handle more than 5 garden hoses worth of water at a time. Recommendation: Get better pumps
