According to the description of this docking station: " you can choose the USB-C PD port (Max 100W) of the laptop dock to charge your laptop". As far as I know the Z13 is 130W. So either it doesn't deliver the full 130W to the laptop, which could result to lower performance, or if it is delivering the full 130W it would be over what its specs allow.

hmm, so the docking station has it's graphics chip (gpu) wonder how much vram then have?

I'm curious as to why the docking station would need a separate power supply from the laptop itself. Shouldn't one power input to the docking station power everything?

I am curious, if a Vr headset would work with this dock. To be precise a valve index. what are your thoughts about this?

What about the fact that the spec is only 100w when the rog flow requires 130w?
@DerSystematiker3 ай бұрын
Exactly. I'm interested in the Flow X13 but without a proper dock it's pointless. The only official way is the eGPU dock that costs as much as the Laptop itself. The only other dock I found so far that "could" do the job is the Dell WD19S with 180W - it has a PD output of 130W. But so far I wasn't able to find a single person that can confirm that it works.

@@DerSystematiker So i ended up doing a few tests. Mind you I have the rtx 4050 variant so higher wattage models may not work as well. Here are the conclusions: 1) A proper charger and cable (example the ugreen GaN) that actually delivers 100w is enough to power and (slowly) charge the laptop under intense gaming, as long as you're not using turbo mode. IMO turbo is effectively useless since it's minimal gain and makes it super loud 2) even with a quality dock that's rated at 100w (again ugreen), you won't get the full 100w passthrough. Aka when I connect the charger through the dock, the laptop slowly drains while gaming So I settled for using 2 cables (and a cable holder) when docking the laptop.. One for the dock and one for the charger

@@nikolakostic5667 Thanks for confirming that docking at one port and power supply at the other port works. I think I will go with docking on a normal 100W dock for normal everyday use and plugin the official charger when gaming.

Hi! This was a great video, as I’m in search of something similar for my gaming laptop. I have a laptop with a Thunderbolt 4 port and I was wondering if I connected this dock to a monitor, would I also be able to connect external speakers to the dock? In the video you use hdmi to get video and audio via the tv but if I used a monitor instead, would this dock also support having external speakers being plugged in? I am new to this and this looks almost perfect for me.

Hi! In fact, I use this currently with my Macbook Pro, and I connect the dock to my ultrawide LG monitor and I've also connected external speakers via USB-C too, and it works great. So to answer your question, yes, this would be possible!

@@TrendingReviews what about if my speaker is a 3.5mm cord? It has the green line for speaker out so it’s not usb c. Would this still work?

What can i do with this... got a great deal on z2 mini 5 with no hard drive, and 16gigs ram so I'm going to put 32 gigs in and a 2tb ssd, has i7 10700 10th gen, but is there anyway to add external gpu to handle lets say 75% all games. It has dimm2 slot, nvme/sata extra with a ss10 and lighting bolt, 3 display ports, and i think 4 10 ss usb and either net, Bluetooth,wifi etc pretty sure i cant basic game with it NVIDIA Quadro P620 4 GB GDDR5 but thought id ask, since i need to buy a hard drive first i wamted to ask options.

I think in this case, you would benefit from getting an external GPU dock, such as the Rog XG Mobile GPU
