Stronger hair, glowy skin, and feel sooo energetic. How Not to Age is very helpful, quite a read! I've watched the How Not Die presentation 5 years ago my life changed forever. My mom had fatty liver disease and reversed it completely by switching to a whole foods plant based diet ♥ I was going through severe digestion issues before on a standard diet and after going on a WFPBD everything cleared up. So I'm a huge fan! ♥ Love from Argentina

For those who are commenting on Dr. Greger's looks : this is not a book about cosmetic beauty. It's about living a long, healthy life with great functionality as we age. Do you know what kind of lives most folks in their mid 70s and upward are living??? Many have several debilitating diseases, are on multiple meds and are in great pain,. Some already need walkers. or wheel chairs to get around. And the majority of those who live past 90 are dependent on home care attendants or live in nursing facilities, some are bed bound for years. THAT''S what this book is about. I'm 70 so I completely get it. I wish my much younger self knew all that l've learned over the past decade from Dr,. Greger and his colleagues.

There are over 500,000 centenarians in the world right now and zero of them consume the diet that Greger promotes so what does that tell you?
@sectionalsofa
@sectionalsofa 3 ай бұрын
Most of them ate/eat a largely plant based diet, and lots of legumes, with small amounts of animal products. They're slim and walk a lot. Some "blue zones, " Like Okinawa, no longer follow their traditional diet which was mainly sweet potatoes and less than 10% animal products. This old way was the diet of the centenarians. In Linda Loma, the seventh day adventists follow a vegan, vegetarian or omnivore diet, but it's the vegans and the vegan+ fish group that live the longest. Long lived carnivores or keto followers? Yet to see that.
@Jeffs60

@@sectionalsofa You are getting information from non accredited blue zones books which have been debunked. In the early 1970's before fast food got to Okinawa it was found out in the last 500 years as people were set in their ways the Okinawa people who had no stigma on meat consumption and no access to synthetic vitamins or supplements consumed a moderate amount of animal protein, about 50% of proteins and fats came from animal foods which gave them the best health and the longest life expectancy. "The present paper examines the relationship of nutritional status to further life expectancy and health status in the Japanese elderly based on 3 epidemiological studies. 1. Nutrient intakes in 94 Japanese centenarians investigated between 1972 and 1973 showed a higher proportion of animal protein to total proteins than in contemporary average Japanese. 2. High intakes of milk and fats and oils had favorable effects on 10-year (1976-1986) survivorship in 422 urban residents aged 69-71. The survivors revealed a longitudinal increase in intakes of animal foods such as eggs, milk, fish and meat over the 10 years." 1992 study title: Nutrition for the Japanese elderly.

@@sectionalsofa I provided the source of the study from 1992. The blue zones book was debunked before it was written because Dan Buettner has no MD or Ph.D and is not a scientist and has zero credentials in anything except for being good at riding bicycles.. Blue zones book is not accredited by anything since it is filled with errors. But what is verified is Buettner sold his blue zones LLC to the Adventist false religion for 78 million dollars.

@@CompanionAnimals2011 This guy obviously has a crusade against dairy products for moral or more nefarious reasons (which is what I believe). He compared Coca-Cola consumption to being as bad as drinking milk which is beyond retarded. Let's be real here, he nitpicks minor details about dairy products that mean nothing in the grand scale of things (e.g. igf-1, hormones, antibiotics in milk) while ignoring the greater picture; that milk is a great source of nutrition.

Maybe when Chris mentions electrolytes he's doing so because he's potentially on a low carb approach to nutrition? In which case I'd think electrolytes are very important, critical. Sure you can get it from food, but if you're not eating enough carbs or calories in general, it's gonna be dangerous not to replenish electrolytes?

He looks great. He just happens to have been genetically predisposed to lose his hair. If you focus instead on the accepted markers of good health - healthy BMI, clear and glowing skin, bright eyes, vibrancy and energy - then he has them all. Plus, he's a practising doctor who researches and writes books and then goes around the world promoting them. This is not a work pattern that most men in their 50s could sustain,yet he does so without any diminishment to his energy levels or health. Dave Asprey is younger (50) than Dr. Greger and pushes a different diet, yet despite being younger and having kept his hair, Asprey looks way older than Dr. Greger, and, more important, looks very unhealthy. Dr. Greger isn't promoting cosmetic enhancement but just good health via diet and, based on his appearance, he's well qualified to do so.

Anyone can fudge data to support their ideology and vegans do it prolifically! Anthropology and isotope testing tells us the truth, as does the thousands of people sharing their stories of how their health improved dramatically when they ditched vegan for low carb meat based. Check out Prof Bart Kay, Ken Berry MD, Dr Anthony Chaffee, Dr Kiltz etc. Look up Ancel Keys, in the 1950's he was paid by the sugar industry to say fat was bad, it was a lie. If you want to live well just go and look at the comments under those Dr's videos on here.

Many carnivores are also weight lifters, are under 50 and/or have not been doing it very long. Like Blondie sang, "Die young, Stay Pretty." Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, on the other hand, has been plant exclusive for over 40 years and is now 90. Check him out. As far as Dr. Greger' is concerned, , only after writing this new book has he gotten into weights.. Before that, I think he mainly walked. Also. C'mon. Bald with thick glasses and a small frame are not exactly the most widely accepted signs of beauty. There are some more conventionally attractive vegans out there like Simon Hill and Dr. Esselstyn's son, RIP Esselstyn.

Except that you can't assess how someone is ageing by taking "one look." Such an assessment could only be made after blood analysis, which I suspect, would yield pretty impressive results. While a genetic pre disposition to hair loss tells us nothing, his glowing and wrinkle free skin and high energy levels despite a very punishing work schedule, are likely very good indicators.

@@meghan42 Looks are subjective but the facts are Greger has no license or board certification or experience in anything. Next time you get on a plane or need dental work make sure the pilot and dentist have no license or experience in anything and let me know how it works out for you.

@@Jeffs60 Yes, looks ARE subjective. Glad we agree on that. As for the rest of your comment, I really have no ideas what you're talking about. Michael Greger is a doctor with a specialty in clinical nutrition.

@@meghan42 Perhaps we should listen to an orthopedic surgeon. Or a journalist. Or a chiropractor. Or a podiatrist. They're all online, munching on saturated fat and pontificating about nutrition with no formal training in nutritional science.
