Bella is fabulous, and it's a joy to see you training her with kindness. A good dog will do absolutely anything her human companion wants, if she just knows what that is. Emilie is going to enjoy seeing how you are around this new female creature in your life. As for your desire to have some seasonal variation in your trees, we have a Chinese Elm that is deciduous, but it's the first to produce a heavy crop of bright green leaves in the spring, does extremely well in our hot summers, turns a brilliant yellow in the fall and is the last tree on our street to lose it's leaves when winter is near. It's the most trouble-free tree we've had on our property in the 45 years we've lived here.

Had to lol seeing Bella covered in mud from her digging. She's such a doll. "A Star is Born!" She obviously trusts you & is devoted to you, plus, the two of you are already demonstrating the cooperative partnership of tending to your property. Bella knows her purpose which fulfills the expression of her genetics. All of these things are beautiful to behold! God Bless!!! ❤

Good progress with Bella. If you have the open area BEFORE installing the pond, then putting in the foundation NOW (concrete blocks flooring and sloping walls) it will save immense time, instead of fillling in all soil, then having to redig out pool area (and having a soil bermed area on the shoreline. One can then line the pond with plastic and/or clay stuccoing and have that ready for the fill in, and tuck the plastic liner under the eventual berming. Depending on your raspberry and blackberry canes - knowing which species is which - cutting old canes, or cutting new canes, each species has their own pruning needs (post-frost). As well as cutting off all old foliage - forcing the canes into early dormancy - and having excess sugars pounded back into the roots for maximum Sprin recovery, foliage growth, and new canes appearing. You might be cutting back all those vines running through the pumpkins vs espaliering them across their original trellising. YouBoob has some great vids on cane cuttings, helping how to prune, when, and which canes are cut. Also all canes and leaves, dried out, don't waste and compost. All vitamin C in them, so crumbled leaves (pull out the stemmy portions), and blender up the dried canes into Vit C powdered tea - and all will work out great. I'm definitely going to watch you "try" and cut down and cut back all those young eucalyptus/gum trees, and then cover them over - and not expect them to NOT grow new shoots and new shrub-trees in their area. One needs to get that tractor in there and totally "root out" the entire root structures of that locale so this doesn't happen. Then there will be peace in the land ... Still wonder when you are going to relocate those bulby flower plants in the cow meadow over elsewhere across the estate, so the Dexter doesn't get a chance to chew on them - and have disastrous results.

You HOPE we enjoyed this video?????? You better believe we did! The pumpkins are great and so colorful. but the star of the show was evidence- laden Bella! we have an Alaskan Malamute and she is also a hole digger. The bigger problem is she hates water so cleaning her is a little tricky. I so love watching Bella - she seems a lot like our dog ( her name is Luna). Big and lovable! Animals have much better hearing than us. Bella can hear the fence is on. My horses always knew when it was off. 😮 Make sure no weeds or anything else ever touches any of the wire. Even the smallest stem will short it out. She's such a good dog she probably wouldn't ever leave. She's obviously loving life there with you and the chickens. 😊

Yay, Bella. She is doing SO good! I don't think you noticed at the time but she was backing away while you were stringing the electric wires - she knew what they were. You got an amazing pumpkin harvest - so beautiful and varied. I highly recommend the Chinese Pistache tree. I just recently started researching something called a rain garden that you might want to consider for your berm. It will help stabilize the soil and prevent erosion while looking good. Love seeing how your property is evolving.

Oh the joys of LGD ownership! They love to dig themselves a den, even on flat ground. I always though it was a carry over from their wolf-like behavior. That was a great video. I really love the big pumpkins for carving and roasting the seeds. Plus, some seeds can be saved for next year's planting. I saved 9 seeds two or three years ago, and they all grew! I recommend bundling the leash and attaching it to Bella's collar with a rubber band, so she doesn't get it caught on something that would not be good. Our neighbors golden retriever was crawling under the fence and coming over to visit, which I think they fixed, and I sure miss seeing her. When she came over, she ate 2 little bunnies and a dead bird, which could explain why Bella was digging, maybe to dine on a gopher. Maybe not the healthiest diet for a dog. May the Lord keep blessing you and yours. See you next time.

I'm glad someone else noticed her backing away from the fence. And because she KNOWS you can place it in the problem areas instead of a collar. I personally am against the use of collars, we don't like the shock ourselves so why should we put another life, that trusts us implicitly, through the trauma? 🤷 That said, there is a collar I saw that you can virtually control the perimeter via app. So if you went on holiday you could take her along. Love the pumpkin harvest!! Had to get some of those bluish green ones this year myself!

When you get ready to choose trees, remember that Cedar trees (my favorite) carry a disease, Cedar Rust, that will kill off your apple trees. That is a fantastic pumpking harvest! You can eat the young pumpkins like summer squash. Bella is adorbs. It is not her fault she came upon the pre-dug hole and got her paws muddy checking the new land feature. Deodar cypress, redwoods and italian stone pines grow very well and are gorgeous. At my father's place, I planted a grove of cypress and redwoods and a bit over 10 years later, they are a lovely grove. The Italian stone pine is a lovely specimen tree now, too. I always do a tree hug when I am over there. The city planted a line of chinese pistache along the street there and it now gives beautiful shade and fall color.

This is a good video (as usual) and it’s great to hear how you think things out. Your pumpkins are spectacular! They look perfect on the path to the cottage. I’m so glad you mentioned Blue Pumpkin. I checked them out a couple of years ago because you’d talked about them in a past video. I texted with and appreciated Brian, same name as you, who helped me with questions I had. He couldn’t be nicer, and they have SO MANY cool seeds! Hopefully next year I’ll be able to garden again, and I will buy my seeds from them. I highly recommend this company, too. And looking at how interesting your pumpkins turned out, the proof is in the pudding (my grandmother used to say that). Your property is really starting to look great. The cottage takes it over the top. I just love being able to see what you do. Thank you!

Bella is certainly happy. I loved her expression when you were talking to her after she had dug the hole. Guilty! Years ago I was at my Aunt’s, who has long since passed. It her backyard, she had this tree that was covered in beautiful big blooms that were different colors. Some a light pink, so,e medium pink, and some a deep rose color. She said it was a Confederate Rose. I believe it’s in the hibiscus family, but they can become trees. Like a hibiscus, freezes will make the canes die back, but it comes back strong in the spring. My grandson who loves to garden has several, a large bush size. They love full sun, but even though my backyard has a huge live oak, it still thrives. You probably don’t want anything that dies back, but it would be pretty somewhere else on your gorgeous property. ❤️

Does Bella get any multi-vitamin/mineral complex? Sometimes (not always) dog nibble at dirt in the yard because they are craving certain minerals and vitamins. Animals can sense hot wire. My Gelding had a hot wire fence for years. He enjoyed visiting with the neighbors gelding during the winter months wasn't I wasn't riding much. He would 'sneak' up to the fence stretch his neck as far as he could to 'check' if it had grounded out. Dollars to doughnuts, if it was, he was over at the neighbor's (good friends) swappin' gossip with Riley.

When I do fence I cut the copper in half and do each copper about 4 foot from each other and wire them in succession. Btw if it ever gets really dry and you aren’t getting a good pop, just water those copper rods. They need moisture to make the physics works, and why they are so long/deep. Beautiful puppy!
