She was apprehensive when she first met her new "family" but it's obvious they will give her the life and love she deserves. I wouldn't want to stop kissing and cuddling her! Ruby wasn't a pet, unfortunately. She was a hunting dog who was dumped or worse when her usefulness was over. Sometimes the hunters try to kill the dogs unsuccessfully, other times they are just dumped and get hit by cars, which may be how her hip was broken.

In INDIA we don't have enough advance hospitals for dogs. I had seen so many dogs are hurted, some accidents also happen. Once I tried to save, so sad but no proper medical allowances like in other countries. At that moment I thought I could have become a veterian ...oh God.

Disposable necessity, It costs money to hunt and the last thing they want is paying vet bills, I think the hunter retired her and let her loose and a vehicle hit Ruby.

These are extremely valuable dogs and worth selling after they age. She likely got spooked in a hunt and ran away and then got injured. I highly doubt some hunter broke her hip and left her to die.

poor sweetheart, i adopted a doggy from portugal that was used for hunting too, she even lost her eye, when she got hurt they wanted to get rid of her asap... and hung her on a tree... the story made me so sad that i adopted her emediatly and she is such a sweet and loving soul... much more loving than most humans i know... and that is what is so special about leela, about other dogs... whatever they been through... they still trust and love humans.. and humans... they don't deserve dogs... if there is something like angels they have 4 legs and allot of fur

I've got a greyhound mix now and he has a lot of the greyhound traits...just as you noted. Those deep dark eyes are so warm and he is so gentle. Mega cuddler. Not a fan of loud noises, but that's not so extraordinary in many dogs. The only other dogs (that I have owned) that are close to them in temperament are Bernese Mountain Dogs. They too are awesome.
