I’ve read this series on repeat and it was stated several times they were actually hoping for Lucius to get arrested and sent to Azkaban. Unless Rowling herself admitted they grew even the remotest bit of respect for each other, these are speculations brought on by the movies and fan fiction, the latter being the biggest culprit for these rumors and theories.

It worked out actually in both movie and book so no worries. You see in the end that Malfoy became friends with Harry finally. Thanks to Harry's treatment of Malfoy and his family they were able to become a better family and finally show love to one another. The realization that Lucius truly loved his son, and Narcissa as well, finally made them a better family. Malfoy was able to finally become a better person, grieve for what he had done and work to be better. All this came from the ending scene at the battle of hogwarts when Narcissa, Lucius, and Malfoy leave together. In the books I believe there was more to it and explained. For those ignoring the book and not caring, to learn actual real wholesomess in the Malfoy family go read the actual book

He was never redeemed in the book and didn’t deserve it. He had literally JUST attacked Harry in the Room of Requirement. Yea, Harry saved his life (twice) after that, but he never “switched sides.” None of the Malfoys took part in the final battle after Harry’s “death.” And Narcissa only lied for Harry so she could try to find her son. The only times they ever acted for the good side was when they were actually acting for themselves.

calling him by his first name its something they usually do only with people you're friends with or like. While they allies for that brief second, they were still not friends, it would have been awkward and jumping his boundaries for Draco to start calling him by his first name. Its the same with Snape, before Dumbledore's death and despite being allies he always referred to Harry by his last name, that's the polite and respectful way to refer to someone you don't usually treat closely. Hence the expression when someone says "they are on first name terms". Not even Macgonagall, who was in much more friendly terms with Harry and ally since day one, called him by his first name because despite being more close she still knew they were not close enough to be on "first name", and at the same time Harry never called her Minerva, always respectfully adress her by her title.

Too be fair, there are countless amounts of Deleted Scenes in the Harry Potter series that shouldn't have been removed. This is one of them. And hell, I think it would've been best if Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 should've been over 3, maybe 4 hours long. This was supposed to be the final installment of the Harry Potter story, and, while they did show what was needed to be seen, they left out so much content in the story that it can be classified as insulting. For example, did you know that Professor McGonagall became the new Headmaster of Hogwarts sometime after the war had ended? Unless if you've read the books, chances are you wouldn't. Plus, there's the fact that the relationship between Harry and Draco are league better that how they were during their time in Hogwarts. While the two aren't exactly friends, they do have a mutual respect for each other. This was also further extend as their respected sons, Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy, were actually best friends during their time in Hogwarts, but that's a different story. When Fred Weasley was killed during the 2nd Great Wizarding War, George and Angelina, (Fred's girlfriend) began spending more time with each other, mainly to cope with the fact that they both lost someone they loved. This resulted in those two getting closer, falling in love with each other, getting married, and having two children, a son and a daughter. Of which they named their son after George's late twin brother. And there's countless other things they left out in the epilogue alone.

He was never redeemed in the book and didn’t deserve it. He had literally JUST attacked Harry in the Room of Requirement. Yea, Harry saved his life (twice) after that, but he never “switched sides.” None of the Malfoys took part in the final battle after Harry’s “death.” And Narcissa only lied for Harry so she could try to find her son. The only times they ever acted for the good side was when they were actually acting for themselves.

To me, Draco already completed his redemption arc and showed that he has a lot of good inside him when he lied about not being able to identify that Harry was Harry at Malfoy Manner. BUT this still would’ve been a very cool scene and a nice payback to Harry for saving his life in that fire that occurred in the Room of Requirement. I don’t think people realize though how big of it was for Draco not to identify Harry and lie. Had Draco told the truth, Voldermort would’ve been there immediately and there wouldn’t have been time for Dobby to come save the day. However, like I said before, this still would’ve been really cool had they kept this deleted scene. It adds a lot but thankfully doesn’t take anything away from the story either. One deleted scene I will always be angry about is the scene with his Aunt and Dudley and showing that his Aunt genuinely loved her sister and that Harry & Dudley kinda made peace. Now in my opinion, THAT scene actually did take away from the story and would’ve added so much at the same time. Unlike this deleted scene, it really bothered me and kinda pissed me off that they deleted the scene with the Dudley’s leaving. Great video, bro!

The movies are different from the books. That said there are subtle hints Draco is on Harry's side. He's good at hiding his motivations and you can tell by the end scene in the train station the two eventually reconciled or at least respected one another.

Subtle hints that Draco was on Harry's side? Like Draco paralyzing Harry, beating him up and leaving him bleeding in the train? Yes, just what friends are doing, right? No, Draco didn't like Harry and wasn't on his side. If anything, he got scared of Voldemort because V. was a psycho. But that doesn't make Draco an ally of Harry's. Oh, and you might want to read the source material, not just rely on movie adaptations if you want to understand the characters.

No. The Neville pulling the sword scene was in the books though which is why if it was one or the other Neville's scene should've been chosen (was also Neville's biggest scene in the series)...granted they altered it a bit as Neville doesn't draw it there but when he's on the steps on the clock tower (think it was the clock tower anyway, was on steps though) after he fell next to the sorting hat which was lying on the ground beside him and felt the hilt of the sword when reaching to see what it was that was touching him just as Nagini attacked him and he slashed her head off in the same motion that he drew the blade. The biggest difference between the book and movie is the battle/Harry shown to be alive scene had started well before Neville pulled the sword (the entire final battle was greatly expanded on...hell the final 'fight' between Harry and Voldemort ended with a single spell cast by each of them (Avada Kedavra by Voldemort and the disarm spell by Harry). As for Neville's speech before the fight I can't really remember if he ever had one or not in the book (if he did he was knocked out by Voldemort when he decided to tell Voldemort to shove it).

If I remember right, Neville did a motivational speech to fight against Voldemort after he killed Harry in the book.​ And as Harry told him before that he'll have to kill Naguisa whatever happened to him as Harry knew that he would be dead at this time because it had to. @@ifrit1937

Harry’s wand was still in his pocket from the forest, this would have been ridiculous and unnecessary and would have undermined Harry choosing to not defend himself, and Draco’s mother lying to Voldemort that Harry was dead so they could rescue Draco. It’s important that the Malfoy’s slunk away before the final battle. They were elitists, but also cunning opportunists, and after they realized that Harry could not be killed by Voldemort, they abandoned him. After the forest, they knew they were on the losing side and looked for the first escape. That was the extent of the Malfoy redemption arc. You forget that moments earlier, Malfoy and friends tried to kill Harry and Ron and Hermione in the room of requirement. The Malfoys were quintessential Slytherins. They don’t care about good and evil, they care about the easiest path to being on the winning side. How many mega wealthy people have you heard of who fight their own battles?

I disagree. They never felt that Vodimort was going to lose. In the end Draco was never a killer and his mother and father chose family over Volidmort. A point was made to show the mother's concern for her son up to and during the first part of the battle. This was an issue with allegiance and their allegiance was for their son.

Voldy had been mistreating the Malfoys throughout the entire series so they had wanted to leave his influence for some time. It still takes courage to lie to Voldy in the face, I'll give Narcissa that. Draco never had the heart to do evil but was simply influenced by his family.

I LOVE the scene we got so much more than this. Neville deserved to have his shinning moment! Not including anything from any other characters, nothing that would distract from his glorious moment, his characters growth and contribution to the ending of this great series. After all, he was sometimes thought of as having a parallel life to Harry’s. It was meant to be! With Draco on the other hand he was a main character in this story all along while Neville wasn’t and already had shown some change of heart when he did not disclose who Harry was at his home when asked. That said enough for me.
