My dad stumbled across a deal on a very special car that has been sitting in a basement for 20 years! The previous owner has taken great care of it, but it hasn't been driven on the road since the late '90s! This car is an absolute dream, so follow along as we dig this thing out along with a treasure trove of parts and try to drive it back to the shop!

The way I's taught about the milage on a vehicle that shows low miles is look at the pedals and the drivers seat to see if they show wear but since it has a built 340 it's probably mostly drag racing miles..That's a nice looking ride and that blue paint looks so good and it makes the car look so good...

That is a great find. A few years back i saw a beautiful 71 Challenger in someone's backyard. I just glimpsed the front end but knew what it was, so i stopped, knocked on the door and asked the lady who answered the door if she wanted to sell it. She said she would have to call her husband who was out of town and when she called me later that night she told me he would sell it for 1500.. I couldn't believe it so i told her i'd come the next day and get it. I went back only to find the guy who had been with me told his friend about it and they had been there earlier in the morning and bought it. I thought the guy was a friend, but that showed me he wasn't. That car had a 340, and was pristine inside and out. That's about the worst car related thing i have had happen to me and i am seventy years old. You have a beauty there. Congratulations. BTW great video. Just subscribed.

Wow, what a find!! Very clean challenger! My brother just bought a 71 challenger with a pistol grip 4 speed and a 440 stroked to 500 cubes! Plumb crazy purple with a shaker and a spolier. Can't wait to see what u guys do with it, sounds great!!

For me it deserves to be kept original. The condition it is in is making it special already. Beeing a base model does not matter that much - it's a challenger that'S all that matters.

Score! Wonder if the Dart manual was for the Dart sitting in the garage. Most of my Mopar time was in 60s and 70s models and I can't ever remember one being wallowy. A few weren't all that stiff, but as long as they were aligned they never seemed to scare me like some of the old "soft ride" big GMs and Fords of that era. Some were a handful just to keep between the lines LOL.

I'm simpatico with Dad. I'm also an unashamed minivan lover. My current one has just come off commercial service. I put 560k on it, and it is still serving great as a commuter. It also hauls my PA rig to and from the rock and roll shows I mix. I'm glad he got that beautiful challenger.

Astounding! This car is yours!?! I couldn't do anything to a car like this; I haven't the imagination or guts, lol! The computer geek is me says scan all that DELIGHTFUL documentation you've got. I'd (gently) take a stab at finding the build sheets and scan them, too. This is truly a different kind of video. You two didn't have to do anything, lol! Like you, I'd get that A/C running. Then? I ran out of ideas...it's so jaw-dropping! I would HAVE to then drive it...and drive it...and drive it some more. That may sound boring, but I'm a boring guy, LOL! Have the BEST of times with this. Beautiful car! That Super Shops receipt from '97 had to be from just before they went out of business, I lived in Riverdale at that time and had ordered a slew of parts for my '84 Dodge W-150 (which I still have). Had to pre-pay for special orders only to find out they were in bankruptcy and couldn't get the parts I had ordered and they wouldn't refund my money, but they gave me in store credit and I was able to get whatever I wanted that was in the store at the time. Ended up with an Edelbrock carb, Grant GT steering wheel with the proper adapter, and a B&M ratchet shifter.

Had a 72 base , Orange/white top white interior 318/904 non air , what a dog ... I like this one even the color a friend used to have a 73 duster 340 in that color . The only thing that gets me about it is , they say its been sitting for 20+ years ? It is just too clean looking and started way too easy . Not saying that's a bad thing , It's just too clean ...

It's been lovingly maintained even though it's been in that basement garage for 20 years. The last time it was on the road was in the late 90's which is crazy to think about. It hadn't been started for months until we went and looked at it the first time and it started up just the same. Truly an amazing anomaly of a car!
