you have low fuel pressure underload not enough fuel going to the pump you may have to change the cp3 pump or put an after market lift pump that will solve your problem

It’s your IAT code. If it can’t read your intake temps it’ll throw it into limp mode. Im pretty sure your IAT affects your fueling also.

I’m not super familiar with those specific trucks, but I’m a mechanic and worked on lots of stuff and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a bad IAT sensor cause a limp mode type issue before. If the sensor thinks things are really hot and things are melting down in the engine compartment, it could put it in limp mode to try to protect itself. Either way I’d definitely be changing that sensor first if I was trying to diagnose the truck in my shop.

My 06 lbz duramax used to throw itself into limp mode because of the transmission... I had to take it to a shop the could read the transmission computer to reset it. Would shift like crap felt like I had no power.

Damn that's almost like the Jedi I had it would have been running and limp mode I guess we put a new turbocharger on it but it was still in limp mode I guess I didn't ever figured out the extra I sold it for two racks and limp mode

If you could get your hands on a CTS 3 monitor and watch your desired fuel rail pressure (DSRP) and your actual fuel rail pressure (AFRP) I think is how they abbreviate it, watch it while you are doing a hard pull and see if you are loosing fuel rail pressure, if the actual isn’t pretty close to the desired that’s an issue. It sounds like the CP3 is loosing prime when you start it which leads me to believe it’s a fuel issue.

Have you checked your Injector wiring connectors my 05 had the problem drive fine for about 3 miles then boom limp mode, had someone ice pick them for me never had the problem since

I bought a 200 dollar xtool a30m scanner. Its bluetooth to a table or phone and does bidirectional control. It works rather well and shows all the live data you need. I also just bought a topdon phoenix lite 2 for 1k and it will not "program" modules but will write vins to certain ones, reflash and does online coding for vag cars. A good scanner with live data and known values can make finding a problem much easier. I dont have anything to do with either company, i really liked the products i bought. The updates after 2 years are 430 bucks a year for the topdone but is not a must to use, xtool is free and i believe their d6 and d8 models are free. Im not 100 percent sure about that tho

hey. i have the same problem with my traverse 2013 and is the fusebox the under plugs and the plug that comes from the battery u have to clean it that is going to solve your problem

Have been having the exact same problem with my 02 8.1l/ Alison.. taking it in this week but I think it's fuel related.. it really acts up when the tank hits 1/4 but I know for a fact the gauge is accurate so we'll see!

Sounds like it could be a transmission module issue. The spot they keep the module under the hood they literally just burn up from the heat coming off the radiator.

Try to get a fuel pressure gauge on it. These trucks are notorious for sucking the fuel lines and collapsing them on heavy pedal. The fuel line can actually look normal but be sucking together inside. It fits your issues with hard start too cause restrictions in fuel would make it crank longer.

Do a glow plug module swap, do a pedal swap, or get the banks monster pedal booster, check all grounds, ecm plug connections, ect - clean, try for better contact connections
