The Ride1UP Prodigy XC is one of our favorite ebikes that we have reviewed this year. The Prodigy features a Brose mid-drive motor that offers a ton of power and is so quiet that we can't even hear it when riding at 28 mph.
The geometry on the Prodigy is designed so well that you can ride it effortlessly without pedal assist on. Ride1up uses a lot of premium components that we don't normally see on ebikes under $2500.
If you have been looking for a premium ebike at mid-end prices, the Ride1UP Prodigy should be on your list.
In this review, I will tell you what I hate and love about the Prodigy XC.

I agree...I would prefer a throttle. In mountain-biking you can use the throttle to avoid peddle-strikes, which improves safety. If you've ever snagged a pedal and been thrown from a bike you know what I mean!

careful brose motors are known to have high failure rates. Think most die around 2k miles. One of our group members had to send the motor in spent like over 500 dollars to have the internals replaced with 3rd party higher quality parts. I’m almost 4k miles on my first Bosch CX motor and 200 miles on my new Bosch Gen 4 CX.

I received my XC 2 weeks ago and love it. My main gripe is the seat, but I hear Santa'a gonna leave the right seat for me. I have a little over 30 miles on it and battery is still at 63%.

Hey guys ! I know the battery removal is tedious but I got a feeling the engineers were leaning towards battery retention when we absent mindedly don't attach our battery correctly it isn't lying in the road when we ride away !! Redundant latching !!

I'm grateful for your review. Any thoughts on how this would fit a 5' 4" person? The website suggests a minimum height of 5'6". Thanks!!

Thanks for a good presentation. I believe most rear hub internal transmission patents are owned by Gazelle Bicycles (German). I had a 3 speed gazelle back in 1963 .It was cable connected to the shifter(it slipped once in a while, a painful experience . It was a great bike till "the Good Humor Man" backed up over me. and took off.

Good bike for the money ! My Turbo Levo has a brose motor , but it cost 4x as much and only does 20 mph . But is is mainly for mountain biking and commuting in the snow . This bike would make a great commuter , I would put hookworms on it for the street .

I love hookworm tires. The Brose mid drive motor is sweet! Is yours super quiet as well?

@@Andrew-vt4jt It is pretty quiet until the steepest climbs and then it makes a slight sound but nothing like a Bafang 1000 watt that I have on my Blade 2 , it sounds like 2 cats mating ! LOL

@@leechavarie4675 lol, I smell what youre stepping in. A Bafang mid drive motor is a lot louder. I always found it hilarious that the Bafang motor is on the Bikonit Warthog MD750 which is a hunting bike. The cats mating sound would scare a lot of the elk away. 🤣🐈😻

I saw your video on the aventon adventure. Price point $400 difference. Hub drive mid compared to rear. Do u think the adventure is still a good value. Thanks Tim

How tall is the rider? For him the "cockpit" looks cramped for efficient ergonomic bicycling (needs longer top tube).

I read that the torque sensor is very fragile and often fails. Maybe they have improved it.

In terms of overall quality and experience, how would you compare to the Aventon Level.2?
@erikkpritchard
@erikkpritchard Жыл бұрын
I own a different mid-drive The biggest difference between the Prodigy and the Level 2 is mid vs hub drive. The Prodigy will be suitable for real mountain biking, the Level is not. If you want the bike that will climb steep trails all day long, the Prodigy is best. If you're commuting, the torque sensor and hub drive on the level will be great. The throttle on the Level is nice to have.

German= low power safe speeds🤔 At throttle only a speed is the determining factor. No 30 mph throttle only, no sale, no go! I will never look at a bike that can not do 30 plus mph throttle only. Just my minimum spec to be a happy camper.
