@@anon-il9qf spacebourne 2 a game that is created by only one dude, and for one dude, to make as much detail as he has put into his game, and the quality for what it is, makes most of these devs look like lazy shit heads. just one dude is making that game, it's not the best, and it is in early access, but it's starting to look better than no man's sky which has been getting updates for years. but for only one dude making the game, it's pretty damn impressive.

For me one of the biggest things that gets me with FPS Ames is gun sway and recoil. IRL even for someone who has never shot a gun before most guns don’t kick that much. Like it may kick up, but then it comes back down. If you shoot a gun full auto you wouldn’t be looking up at the ceiling with your sights once you’re dry. And I know it’s video games but it’s just so unrealistic compared to how guns ACTUALLY shoot. FPS games have become this telephone game of people making guns based on how other people make guns in their game etc etc. but the realism goes out the window over time

@@Mox2077 Yeah, I've seen videos of it being shot one handed as proof it barely kicks in it's 9mm version, with the .45 version being a biiiiit more heavy on the recoil. The thing is almost impossibly stable unless you barely control it, requires barely any recoil management to remain on target.

I'd love to see Fry really spending some quality time in a game like this. I'm always left with questions. What would have happened if he did make it over the fence into the corn field? Was there any holes in the invisible wall he could have popped through and if so, what is beyond it? What's with the enemies' guns and that constant rhythmic, slow firing rate? What was the rest of the story with the bank, and whatever stuff that was going on there? So many mysteries

The thing about an Early Access game is that if I'm going to buy it, I need to be convinced that the game will be worked on and improve over time. And that it will eventually be good. This is so rough I don't see why anyone would buy into it. It doesn't look fun in it's current state. Maybe in a year. If funding is needed to complete this, are there no other options other than forking out this rough build for $10 a pop? I just don't get it

See as an aspiring developer myself, I think making your game available to the public for testing means that _as the developer_ you have developed and tested it yourself to the point you can say that the core gameplay loops and mechanics are there, feel reasonably good/accurate to your intentions, and it is in a generally playable state. Releasing it for public testing should be for testing that your design is actually enjoyable by a wider audience or functions the way you intended. You see a lot of 'early access' games like this where it's painfully obvious that the dev(s) never play tested it once because the myriad issues you encounter are immediately apparent within the first few moments of gameplay. Especially when said issues could be fixed within minutes of development time, or with an ounce more consideration. If they had playtested it and somehow didn't catch all the glaring issues, then frankly those types of dev(s) have no business making games plain and simple. But it always absolutely boils my blood when you get brainlets that try and defend shitty games like this especially with lame excuses like, "Oh but it's early access! Oh but it's only one developer! Oh but making games is hard, let's see you do better!" As if any of that excuses the dumpster fires you see everywhere on Steam. Especially when the issues you see aren't the result of the inherent difficulty or complexity of game development, but rather the result of grossly incompetent or maliciously optimistic developers. It's one thing if the product is offered for free during testing stages, cuz at least the dev(s) aren't asking for anything but time and consideration from consumers which is fair enough. But when you get games that are _this_ bad and still have the nerve to charge any amount of money, that's just disgusting business practice, flat out.

I wholeheartedly agree. As a software developer for many years and an aspiring game developer, my take on this kind of developer who doesn't test their stuff is that they have no love for the craft. They simply don't care, because if someone is really passionate about something, they make it work, no matter the number of failures and no matter how bloody the wall has become from them banging their head against it. A passionate but inexperienced developer will struggle, make mistakes, read, try again, try harder, make more mistakes and so on until they have a product that at least they are proud of themselves. Or they will scrap the project and start over with something else. The powerful game engines we have today make it easier to develop games compared to back in the day. This is a double-edged sword though, because it's still bloody hard to develop (good) games. I think too many people have wild ambitions, download Unreal or Unity and get to work thinking it will be easy-peasy to make a polished game beloved my millions. Then they hit a brick wall because they realise to make everything work together they need coding, animations, art, *game design* , project management. All those things mean hard work. So they give up and release crap like this.

Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy for "Early Access" to go fuck itself as a concept for anything OTHER than big multiplayer-only titles. All it does is cater to the privileged content-creators and influencers who will be bribed anyway, it's an excuse to not produce a working product, no matter how in-progress it is, and it cultivates this culture of "we'll fix it in post" with day 1 patches and roadmaps and all that BULLSHIT that plagues modern gaming. Hire QA, hire a tester or a team of testers, then if you are still wanting to wet appetites, do a demo or a very, very polished beta slice. Do not ever go "here's the whole thing, but like 20% of it works, most of it runs like shit, and the rest, is disjointed and not a very good showing anyway".

Early access single player seems like a dumb move. I played the original Half-Life when it originally released and only replayed it one other time, and its still the greatest FPS I've ever experienced out of the box. A lot has to do when how it felt when it first dropped, I have played better since, but it just doesn't come as close. So if someone plays a campaign one arly access, why would they replay it? Replayability had better be astronomical.
