This eBay Hack Will Change The Way You List Forever

I am a new seller on eBay, but I have a slight understanding of keywords from another endeavor. But I guess I am missing something here with this Jentacular key word. Isn't the purpose of keywords to use a word that a lot of people are searching, and not some ultra obscure word that most people have never heard. I can understand inserting the word Christmas, because people will be searching for Christmas things, but like you said, there were zero searches for the J word. Please help me to understand, somebody.

Do NOT use the word Jentacular. I used an ultra obscure word in order to control this experiment. You are supposed yonuse YOUR keywords. Sadly, ice seen folks using jentacular on ebay. There are hundreds if listings. That was not the point. I was using a word no one ever would in order to see if I could influence Search results.

@@RachelStrickland I was never going to use that crazy word (although I am a literary genius), it just threw me off. Now since we are here, I have another question. I looked through my listings, and i didn't see anywhere on a current listing where I could insert keywords as you suggested. Does this action need to be taken when making a new listing? Like I said, I am new, so I have so much to learn, and anything I can do to increase sales, I am all for it! And thank you for your prompt response, I appreciate it, and I promise not to be too big a pain😏

I contacted eBay about using words in item specifics that are not listed in the drop down list; whether or not we should use our own words, and their answer was, “As long as it is relevant to your item, YES, and if it is used enough, it will be added to the list automatically or you can request that it be added by eBay immediately”. As an example for them, I asked why cowboy is in theme but cowgirl is not. As a TEAM RACHEL reseller, I have learned that being bold and asking questions and devising methods on your own can definitely get you somewhere, but, help others with that knowledge once discovered. You’ll go farther in life when you do!

I have heard about " make sure you fill out as many item specifics" because they are searchable...BUT YOUR INFO is way more in depth and time saving. Specific areas to focus the keywords is KEY ( all puns intended) THANK YOU!!!!!

Ebay does recommend filling out as many details as possible. This not only makes it searchable through ebay but web searches which further drive their income.

I have been a seller on Ebay for ten years, I never knew this! I also noticed, that when I go to buy stuff, No matches found message will pop up, yet the item I am looking for is right below in the listings. Most of the time it is not visible w/o scrolling, but it is there. The listing could easily be missed by the casual Ebay buyer,IMO. Thankyou for Sharing!

Very very valuable info, Gained you a new subscriber for sure! However I wouldn’t say people were necessarily gatekeeping just not listening and/or connecting the dots. eBay has been pushing item specifics and telling us to fill in as many as possible and this is clearly why. This is why I almost always follow what eBay pushes or recommends even when it doesn’t make sense at first because there is a reason behind it. But anywho love your breakdown, your research, and your whole overall attitude and approach. Keep up the great content.

Added keywords to Theme via cell; however, those keywords do not show up when I go to computer listing and hit revise/refresh - frustrating... I always assumed that the additional keywords in the description were searchable, but I see that there is a click box under the search bar for "Include Description". So, I guess that isn't searched unless someone intentionally clicks that box.

Now, we're literally doing battle with a system that is rigged against us... there are 'rules' which obviously affect us.. but we are not allowed to know what they are. I found it out a few months ago when stuff popped up that wasn't related to what I was searching for and I found the word WITH A LEAST 9 OTHER WORDS listed on one line in the item specifics. I thought I was the only one that didn't know about it because I've been on ebay longer then most people so I just started doing it. PERIOD

Ok now I bought a vintage board game from the library of all places. It was eight dollars. Still new, though the seal was ripped up in places. I wanred to use it as an experiment. There are two listed and none sold. Its an obscure game that im sure nobody is directly searching for. I wanted to experiment with key words to see if I can get it sold based on its subject matter. I didn't know I "knew" this, but I did know it. I used to do this in my listings, but the KZbin experts said to use only the available choices. So, that's what I've been doing, and my sales have slowed. I suspected that was my problem, or at least part of it. Now you've confirmed it. Thank you!

I thought the item specifics were searchable, especially Theme words. I'm just not that great at coming up with the words. I've always heard too that the description in Poshmark listings is searchable, just like the title. I also have heard KZbin people say you have to use only the item specific choices eBay gives you, like color and I'm not sure that's true.
