If you sell shoes, make sure to take a photo of the size tag inside the shoe. Scammers are looking for name brand shoes/sneakers that lack this photo, buy the shoes and try to refund for item not as described. They then return a different shoe, if they return it at all. @@sunshinedream7772 Nope. Pretty sure Ebay didn't come into existance till mid 90's at least. But, yes I remember getting lots of checks and money orders in the early days. Internet was still pretty new as a whole, and alot of people weren't sure about trusting that thing called PayPal. I didn't ship anything out till the money was received and if it was more than $50 or $100, I sometimes delayed a few extra days to be sure a check didn't bounce.

I’ve gotten this address change message maybe 4 times already this year. I always tell them I don’t have access to change the shipping address after purchase. I warn them I’d have to cancel the order and relist. Then they can repurchase and enter the correct address.

This happened to me once. I told them I couldn't change the shipping address unless ebay told me too. Long story short. Usps wanted to charge me to intercept the package. The real account holder denied the package and Usps lost the package trying to get it back to me! Big headache and eBay didn't help. Thanks for bringing this up many ppl probably didn't know about this.

I just wanna take a moment to thank you guys for all you've have done for all of us! You guys were the first "big KZbinrs" that I have consistently watch and learn Thank you. It means a lot to us. My husband resells so he can be home with me to take care of due to disability. We still aren't where I would consider a decent amount of sales a week, which is maybe $200 (before paying for fees, COG, and shipping). We're doing semi OK right now due to the fact that we have the stimulus checks that were recently sent out. Other than that, we HAVE to get our sales up to be sure we can pay our bills. Ive also had an issue with "no Delivery scam" when USPS was backed up with shipping. Some items didnt get scanned properly. A buyer claimed they didnt get an item, so i sent a inquiring to usps to find the package and they found it was delivered and marked it that way for me. So i responded to the buyer and said it was delivered, did you not get it? aaaaaaannnnnnddddd, Ghosted... their scam failed

Although I had a positive outcome in the past, changing addresses for buyers, I will no longer change addresses for any buyer ever again. The world has definitely changed since then! Had a buyer, said she had to cancel to use a different card that her husband wouldn't know (she was buying a men's shirt) I cancelled. Jumped through a bunch of hoops, lowered my price gave her free shipping and she never repurchased with her "other card"

That was my thought about that scam! It seemed like a 'long con' that they would get all money back except the $35, showing that the invoice was $35 for the t-shirt, not $350! I think that was going to be the the scam.... and confusing you all the way, so you wouldn't notice the con. Thank you Ralli for your vigilance and your info on this scammer!!!

We never change address outside eBay. That is what we do, cancel and then purchase the item under the correct address. Most often, they don’t respond or cancel, so we cancel it anyway.

When I first started reselling, a buyer once asked me if we could talk through email. They said that they wanted to change the address. But asked if I could buy a $500 apple gift card and add it in the package and that they will PayPal me the money back. No way I was doing that.😅

When we first started selling on eBay, we were inundated with weird messages from sketchy people! They pretty much left us alone once we started getting more feedback scores from buyers, but we still have the occasional scammer try to do their thing!

Ryan that was an intense eye opening video. I’m a seller in Austin, Texas and when you mentioned signature confirmation on items over $150 my heart started to race. I sold a pair of Stingray Cowboy boots I bought for $12.99 at one of my goodwills for $350 and just recently, sold a Mission Workshop Arkiv Modular System backpack for $190. On each of those sells I just sent them off with no problem, but keeping my fingers crossed hoping that I don’t get scammed. I’ve been very lucky. I’m now going to enlist a signature confirmation on all of the I post for $150 and up. Thank you so much! My wife and I working to become debt free and we have about 24 months. It will be a giant milestone for us being that we are in our mid 50’s. I’m looking to retire from my full time job and working full time with eBay, Amazon, Mercari and local ways of selling. Your channel has been an eBay “How to” on my guidance to perfecting my store for years. Thank you again Ryan to you Alli and all the gang! It is so hard with eBay siding so much with the buyer and the buyer having so much leeway with return policies. I just sent a brand new item to a customer and when they received it they claimed it was open and sent pictures of the wrong item. eBay sided with them and I was met with a loss as they returned a different item back to me and I had to refund the buyer. eBay definitely is a love-hate relationship and it is the cost of doing business but we appreciate videos like this they can help weed out some of the common scams you might see.

Just found this channel and subscribed. Thanks for the info. My struggle is with people not reading the full description or viewing all the pictures, then returning the item because it doesn't work for them or isn't what they thought it was. Ebay shouldn't let this happen. It isn't the seller's fault the buyer didn't look over the listing or ask questions before purchasing. I'm convinced some people do this on purpose so they can ruin your item and still get refunded.

Sold a Dale AOP to a guy, I wore it before I sold it and it was in pristine condition, then I sell it to this guy, and promptly says that the shirt is dry rot. And he put his finger straight through it. And I knew there was no way. So I refund the guy because I’m a good guy. And when the shirt got in , it was the total different size and the shirt was cracked and absolutely DONE. watch out for this! Thanks!

Glad to have this advice. I have a valuable item I am reluctant to offer on eBay (a wayne Gretzky rookie card graded 8.5) because I am afraid of a scam - that someone will open the sealed case, remove the card and substitute a lower grade - and then want to return it or some similar situation. I am still not comfortable selling it on eBay as I don’t know how to get over this “fear”.
