I really like this design because THE most useful thing about my regular scooter (Leonardo 250) is the huge underseat storage area plus the bag hook on the leg shield. Which allows me to carry three bags of shopping at a time, or stow my helmet, gloves, jacket etc when I'm away from the scoot. The S01 is the only electric scooter I've seen that can boast the same practicality without having to bolt an ugly top box to it. Bravo to Silence for recognizing that scooters are practical devices first and foremost, and that you shouldn't have to sacrifice storage just because it's electric.

@@gottliebdee263 What I don't understand is why so many fools pay for aftermarket exhaust systems that 1. Fail to comply with anti noise regs, and 2. all too often detract from the real power output of the two stroke engine. and 3. probably negate the warranty on the bike. As we know the exhaust on a two stroke engine is part of the power production , proper engine scavenging via the exhaust is part of that. With regard to price, manufacturers will produce the cheapest tat that they can get away with, that's why there are so many regulations in force to control them.

@CheapskateMotorsports
@CheapskateMotorsports 3 жыл бұрын
From a motorcyclists perspective there are plenty of scooters that can already do what this does. Where this wins out, however, is the separation of battery space and storage space. You don't need to sacrifice your cargo room for another battery. And you don't need to carry a heavy battery around in your arms. The battery removal and installation on this is pure genius and I hope it catches on. However for many this is still not viable until it actually reaches 70mph. Great to see that some progress is finally being made with electric bikes even if it's just finally getting the basics right.

Not really,because a very cheap petrol scooter(lexmoto for example)would cost a fraction of this bike but for individuals that are moving around 30 miles up 30 miles down,such as myself,makes the perfect bike 🏍, however if a delivery company wants to treat their riders then YES it is awesome! For the record ☝.....I have tested this bike already and I can tell you that it is just something out of the conventional and it smokes anyone from traffic lights, plus at 62 mph it overruns almost any 125 scooter or 125 motorbike and then the app it is very handy for making sure that you don't run out of electricity, so all in all it is a very good buy. Personally for me the 3 things that calls me to buy it are:first and most important is the SILENCE 🔕 then the acceleration+top speed and then the cost of running it.This bike means 0 oil,belts,chains,sparkplugs,petrol ☝ so you do your math!😉

My commute is similar and I’ve used a 250cc motorcycle for the past 3 years. It’s 3 gallon tank typically lasts me 1.5-2 weeks. So not a major expense. I could see the silence working if it went a little faster.. My drive involves a couple miles of highway which uses has me doing 65-70. Maintenance requirements are minimal, with the major expenses over the past 20k miles being a couple tires.. and I guess 1.5 qts of oil every 1000 miles, although I change it a little more often than I really need to.

I thought they should have made the right break the strong one and the left the regen. Every other bike has the right handle break for the front wheel where you get 70% of your breaking and the right foot pedal for the back break. So if you are use to a typical bike in a panic emergency situation, you will using regen instead of full breaking. Motorcyclists generally don't go for the clutch handle for full emergency breaking.

removable battery actually is smart it maintains the serviceability of your bike. reasons its good are. 1. convenient charging at home for low cost. 2. temperature of battery can be managed while its parked up reducing battery degradation. 3. security aspect less likely to get hotwired / its a greater inconvenience to steal. 4. swapping for a pre charged battery makes using the vehicle almost like petrol. so for business use it or time saving for its user.

£5000 for a petrol scooter? Not the same style that this one... for example, if we go for a Honda SH125i (there are brands that are much cheaper!) that has similar performance it costs £3549, so quite a discount over £5000... Yes, the electric one is cooler but let's get the facts right 😅

For places like Thailand and the Philippines, they make a huge sense as their Electric is far cheaper than their Petrol is and a lot of people ride Scooters in Asia. Even the Netherlands would be good for an EV cycle as many ride over there, at least we did when I lived there over 60 years ago :). The one advantage you didn't mention with an EV Scooter is that if you are waiting at the lights, you use no power idling, so in peak traffic where you do a lot of stop start the fuel economy of an EV shine even more.

Partially enjoying this Scooter.. Like most EV it does suffer from winter fatigue.. Battery can seem to drain quickly in freezing cold weather. I did manage to go out on it for 7 hours intermittent riding and still had 37% when I got home, covered 50 miles I think roughly; I weigh 86kg.. Plus had locks in helmet compartment which, Probably added an additional 15kg.. The battery whilst removable does weigh a ton, so depending on where you are, or have to stop and your moped security it's not as mobile as it made out, plus as I've discovered the retractable leg which folds in an out can give way, so make sure when you remove it it's secured. Anyone else has connection issues with the App.. Can't connect it to my phone.. Followed all this instructions.. Nothing... Also it doesn't come with a mobile charger you have to buy seperately. Any one know what type of cable, or could you recommend? 👍

I've had a Honda Sh300i for many years - 280cc - so I'd probably find this a bit slow. The small wheels would put me off too. No mention of ABS either - might sound like overkill for a bike but it's saved my bacon on a few occasions and should be mandatory. Disappointing that the mainstream bike manufacturers have been so slow to go electric.

Well the SH300 is just brilliant. Compact size, large wheels and plenty power (20kW) for relaxed cruise at 100kmh highway speed and do quick overtakes on top. I agree, I don't think this can replace a SH300 but I think it's marketed as a 125cc. Too bad the market for a bit larger electric scooter is so limited. There's the BMW CE04, but that bike is way more expensive. ABS is a must in my book, regardless of bike size, weight, speed or price.

The Silence S01 'Connected' currently retails in the UK for £5695. It's quoted as equivalent to a 125cc motorbike, however it's around £3000 more than the brand new SYM Jet 14 125cc scooter I recently purchased for my son costing just £2995. The battery pack will also suffer 'range degradation' with each full recharge cycle and will last typically around 200 charges before it's overall performance is adversely affected.
@paulnewman2000
@paulnewman2000 2 жыл бұрын
They did tests on a sample of Just Eat and Spanish Post Office Silence batteries that had done 400 charge cycles, and the average degradation was just 3%, with a narrow range around the average. They achieve this high battery life from the low charge rate (downside - takes ages), and the built in heater, which means you charge at the ideal temperature.

You'll get 40 - 45 miles flat out in sport mode. 55 - 60 miles in city mode. You might squeeze 60-70 miles out of it if you don't leave Eco mode, but that restricts you to a top speed of 43 mph. For mixed modes - driving from the outskirts into a city centre and back, you could get around 50 miles, more if you can put it on charge while you are at work.

It's good for what it is, but many of your comparisons to a regular moped or a motorcycle are absolutely not correct. First of all it does cost alot more. Something similar like a Honda Grom or Benelli Tnt125. They cost around 3500 for the Honda and 2400 for the benelli, both of them are doing range of around 250-300km, top speed around 110-115kmh, same weigh and even smaller size. Plus the range you are rating this is probably just what the manufacturer told you, for electric vehicles like that the real actual range is always half of the stated.

Very nice bike and £1 per mile, shame that when all the petrol bikes have gone, the battery will cost more than the bike! You don't get 12 bhp from a moped, a moped is 50cc. 125 can have max of 15 bhp and needs an A1 licence. Many older people can ride a moped with a car licence! A moped class is AM not A1. Other than not knowing the difference between a moped and a scooter, you did a good review! In the past it was easier to tell because 50cc scooter and bikes actually had pedals!!! Which is what made them mopeds.
