I believe that pety and JT are not the issue here given time they will work out a working agreement.What I see is management using this as a smoke screen to cover up the terrible blunders they made with the defence in the off season.With a weak defence Tocket has to play a defensive system that the club does not want to play. Management will slide out from underneath this by firing the coach.

Minus Hughes and Hronek it is the worst defense in the league. They can't pass. I agree. Petey was super happy with Zadorov. He stood up and protected him. Management made more blunders than home runs. Resigning Meyers was a huge mistake and even I mistakenly thought Joulsen was okay. All third pairing from borderline NHLers to okay third pairing guys.Descharnais and Forbert was a huge gamble. Gee whiz I thought if they just kept Cole and Zadorov and picked up Dillon when we had the chance this whole situation would be completely different. And even picking up Bear as an extra. I still think they should try and get Comtois as a forward. Still young can play at the NHL level. And can fight a bit. I am not sure what management wants for this team. Tax rightoff? There is a big chance we miss the playoffs.

@trejijian2787 There's a reason why teams want Miller and why he's #1 on the trade list. He's proven himself. He's in a slump and had personal leave but when called out and he shows up he can be a game changer. Media target him and yet he says he still wants to be a Canuck. Trade him away and we gamble that Petey might eventually be back to his old form. If he doesn't ever get out of his slump. We're in a worse position. He makes more than Hughes and only Hughes is a franchise level superstar on a consistent basis. Petey should be too for us, but he's so under the mark. It's almost been a season worth of games for Petterson. It clearly isn't working for him here. Hence a fresh start elsewhere.

@ I understand what you’re saying 100% but if we look at other examples of players who played at similar skill levels then experienced slumps like pettersson’s, there are so few examples of that player not returning to form. Especially considering the fact that he should have another 10 years in the league if he remains healthy. Pettersson also had 15 points in the 10 games Miller left for his leave of absence (123 point pace). And if the rumours are true that Miller had his issues with Horvat AND that other current Canucks dislike him, there is genuinely no reason to trade Pettersson over Miller. It’s a horrible situation and you can blame both of them for it 100%, but if you need to keep one it’s a no brainer.

Your attachment to Pety doesn't work - his ability is hampered by his moodiness. He's hot, he's not, over & over. His inconsistencies are moodiness based, as is his very, very high maintenance. Pety for Necas. The Buffalo offer is sound, all 3 players are producing and Not high maintenance.

I think Miller scolded Rick Tocchet for using the players in a completely crazy way! I think that's the big problem. No, fire Rick Tocchet and bring in 4 good defensemen. A coach who doesn't play the damn dump and chase hockey! There's more than enough skill on the squad offensively! But when there aren't any skilled defensemen, that's how it goes.

We lose miserably on ANY trade deal currently. Canucks performance this season puts any other club willing to broker a deal in the drivers seat. Shit the bed for half the season and now you have to face that fact that we're not the team we were last year. I doubt there is any saving of this season and a playoff chance, so time to plan for a better season next year.

Miller only got good when he got to play with a good Canucks team. He had many mediocre seasons before. Not sure he will stay at this level if moved. He will probably go back to his normal level of 20 goals max. Pettersson has had good seasons from the start of his career and he is clearly the better player. He will get out of this slump, but it is frustrating for everyone.

dont agree, in my opinion tocchet is the reason we got where we were last season. Canucks have been a dumpster fire for a while now and tocchet came in and used the same roster that had so many struggles and made them look good. Unfortunately person issues are gettting in the way of the team this season. too much drama.
