For a little context, the guy was glitching out for kind of the same reason Eugio's eye blew up, He had to decide between life and the taboo index, which contradict each other

The main difference is that he wasn't nearly as driven and determined as Eugeo was. And unfortunately for him, not making the choice only lead to him bleeding out, so he was just doomed regardless.

Basically, Raios’ fluctlight collapsed. If you remember back on the Ocean Turtle when the clone of Higa’s fluctlight collapsed? Same thing happened here. The preservation of his own life as a high noble versus telling Humbert to sacrifice his own life caused a conflict in the Taboo Index and his fluctlight couldn’t prioritize which was correct, causing the collapse - and good riddance.

Finally THIS episode. My god, i'm watching it for the 3rd time, and I'm still shaking from anger. Also the amount of blood and good animation in here - shit was crazy. Always love to see people reaction to the eye destruction, because this world really works like the real one, and there is blood and real pain 🙌 Eugeo my boy!

One good thing about anime and manga, they don't shy away from real world issues. How the law can be twisted within itself to allow horrible acts. If the story teller has made you feel uneasy or to even like and care for the character, they have done their job correctly. It was a hard episode to watch. Remember, not all nobles are like that. The girls are lesser nobles as well.

having read the novel before watching the show, I remember it being quite an awkward read but not much more, and I think I understand now why. perhaps I was just incapable of picturing in my mind what was truly going in this scene, because holy s**t, this scene was the hardest thing for me to watch ever the first time I saw it animated. every fiber of my being was screaming internally to just make it stop, and even that was a fraction at best of what Eugeo must have felt. this is the third time I have seen this scene, and I'm still sitting here 10 minutes later being just absolutely livid.

I think he watched SAO using funimation, so I don't know whether funimation has the warning or not. But, when I watched this episode in particular, the studio even went out of their to put a warning about graphic scenes in this episode, which honestly surprised me when we got that in the beginning of the episode. Knowing how many uncomfortable scenes in this series so far up to that point and only now, in season 3 we got a warning, you know that some fucked up scenes bound to happen in this episodes. They might or might not have put a warning before in the series, but this episode was the first time I saw such warning in SAO.
