Whoa that slow mo illusion looks fricking cool! For all of you who are curious, it works somewhat like this: the coil makes the displayed object vibrate and the lamp shines at a certain interval, so that it looks like the object is flickering. It works with the same principle as strobo lights. Super cool!
@djhunstiger6 жыл бұрын
The plant pot is a dodecahedron. I only know this because I play magic the gathering and all my counters besides life counters are just different colored 12 sided dice. I suck at geometry if I can't relate it to dice or symmetry.
@dedaveful6 жыл бұрын
I tried to learn how to play that game. Ugh just gave me a headache trying to remember all of it.
@djhunstiger6 жыл бұрын
@@dedaveful when teaching Magic I have 2 starter decks from 1999 that are so simple it's just the basic mechanics of power, toughness, casting cost, and drawing cards. The most complex those decks get is a counter spell type card and a creature with trample. If you want to learn I suggest getting those decks. Balanced enough for fair games, simple enough for new players, only $20 for the 2 deck set on average.

A buddy of mine saw the feather / plant frame a few years ago and made one. The lighting in the frame is a strobe light, which causes the affect on the vibrating feather / plant, etc.
@genshinimpactuser1931 Жыл бұрын
i saw that there's a guide on doing it years back but couldn't find it now, do you think your buddy can share his experience?
@mastermind8496 жыл бұрын
It works by using a extremely fast strobe light that your eyes don't notice and the electric coil causes it to move fairly fast but due to the light you only see frames. "Now you see me 2" uses this same effect when they "stop" the rain/reverse it

@FF-pf5ze6 жыл бұрын

@janhemstad6 жыл бұрын
The Slow Dance affect is achieve by oscillating the plant or feather at a frequency above your flicker fusion threshold of your eye, while the light in the frame is a strobe light flickering at a frequency slightly offset the frequency (or a slightly offset harmonic of the frequency) of the oscillation. Kinda works like video, but the difference in the "frames" is being created by the the small offset of the frequency.

There's a similar device used waaay back in the day by animators, the actual name escapes me, it's been years since i saw one, but there's essentially the same components involved. A light that was made to pulse at a certain rate (via mechanical shutter) and a vibrating electromagnetic coil, all neatly packaged inside a 300 x 300 x 500 mm box. The one i saw contained a small porcelain doll with a fabric dress, a ballerina, to be more specific. It pirouetted around and flickered appearing in slow motion. I'm describing it really bad, the whole thing was drop dead gorgeous and extremely complex, even by today's standards, i've certainly not seen once since.
