"A cereal box has better lesbian representation than The L Word: Generation Q." Omg, this snarky quip is perfection.

It was such a fun and cute film. Ali and Humberly both did such an amazing job and it's just so refreshing to see the movie get universal support and backing. No controversy, no online bickering. Just a great movie to revisit every Christmas season

This film felt like like some AU Carol fanfiction come to life. 😅 I mean the left behind gloves, the buying of the Christmas tree, the red scarf, set during Christmas - so many Carol references.

This film was directed by Anne Wheeler, who also directed Better Than Chocolate. So it's no wonder the chemistry and storytelling worked so well!

Actually Hallmark put out a movie in 2022 called Love Classified that centered around a coming out story for a woman. I actually thought that movie was much better-the actresses weren’t stiff when they kissed I thought it was more natural. One of the actresses was from L word next gen. Check it out, it was kinda fun! 💕💕💕

I have watched this movie a total of five times now, and I’m completely enamored and in love with this movie. Ali and Humberly make my cheeks sore every time I’ve watched because all I did was smile and squee with joy watching one of my favorite holiday romance stories of all time. I’m a sucker for a fake dating trope, it’s one of my favorites. And to see a movie where the two leads already don’t have to come out, not made a big deal of them being lesbians and have a healthy relationship with their parents was an added treat. Now, for some of my favorite moments: The first one being the exchange of the gloves. The fact that not only were they MATCHING, but the flirtatious texting had me gushing. That moment was so “Carol” coded, and I’m here for it. The next one being the work Christmas party and where Amelia walks Daniella to her door. I think that was THE moment in the movie where they both realized they liked each other. “She’s the most unexpected Christmas Miracle.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That was just so cute! Them dancing with each other at the party made my heart are warm and mushy, and where they both happen to gaze between each other’s eyes and lips at Daniella’s door; I was practically shouting “HEY, YOU TWO SHOULD KISS” at my tv. The last is where both of the family helps with the declaration of love. I want someone to shout their love for me from the rooftops, while showing my photos of our favorite memories. They are beyond adorable when they act shy while telling each other how they feel. AND THE KISSES ! Not only did we get one with the love declaration, but another at their Christmas dinner. They were perfect. This movie is perfection, and it’s in my Top 5 favorite Christmas movies of all time. I hope Ali and Humberly know how many holidays they’ve made brighter with this movie. How many people they’ve made feel loved during a time of the year when they feel alone. I know they’ve helped me a great deal. ❤️

Hallmark has never been my cup of tea, or hot chocolate, but this is a huge breakthrough to counter their heteronormative Christmas offerings. I wasn't crazy about it, it has the unrealistic feel and so-so writing of their insufferable straight romances but it's positive and normalizes lesbians and our relationships and that is really all you can ask for right now. I must say I preferred Love Classified from last year which featured a supporting lesbian couple and some better writing and chemistry.

I think that "Love Classified" is a better Christmas/Hallmmark movie, but "Friends and Family Christmas" is good too :). And the most important thing is, that these films are being made.

Absolutely loved the movie. It was the perfect hallmark-y type movie with a sapphic romance. I also thoroughly enjoyed how culturally diverse the cast was without feeling like they were checking boxes. I have watched it thrice already haha.

It's amazing to see movies with actual lesbian main characters! More often than not, "lesbian" characters are bi women who are called lesbians. I am bi myself but I am very rarely interested in men and 100% of the romance media I consume is about same sex attracted women. So I have my egoistical reasons lol. But it's mainly just bad representation that sends a horrible message to young lesbians. So yay for this movie. Would really like to watch this. (And thank you for the makeup comment! Things like that annoy me to no end)

A lesbian Hallmark movie that must be so adorable I definitely have to watch it.I really like Ali liebert too. Thanks for reminding me of Bomb girls. One of my first lesbian movies I’ve seen was Lost and Delerious so I know what you mean.About the makeup thing as great as Xena is it was weird seeing characters set in Ancient Greece wearing tacky 90’s makeup.

Highly recommend the book The Senator’s Wife by Jen Lyon. It’s so good and addicting and hard to put down. It’s been all the rage in my sapphic book group. It’s about a soccor player who falls in love with the wife of a senator. She begins to realize that she’s lesbian. It’s the best book I have read all year.

Sure it was cheesy but it was nice just for once to have something sweet and happy, without trauma or homophobia. They were openly gay rather than bi, no ex-boyfriends hanging on, no 'queer' or non-binary nonsense, just women loving women. Nice little touches with the characters and family, chemistry between the leads and on-screen kissy-kiss-kiss. More like this please.

I love this movie. I really thought it was well done for a Hallmark flick. I would’ve liked to of seen their age difference played out a little bit more. And by more I mean anything at all. But, other than that, I really did love this flick

Haven’t seen it yet, but I keep hearing good things about it. Let’s applaud Hallmark and write to them how much we enjoyed it. That’s the only way we’ll get more. We have to at least counteract all those homophobes who seem to want to eliminate the real world by banning books, making stupid anti-trans laws, etc. A simple ‘Thank you. I liked this movie very much’ can do miraculous things to those who make the decisions. 😊

Every episode of Gen Q evoked in me the total lack of passion that I felt every time that I kissed a man back in my straight days. But I have to say that had I not hated that show so much, I probably wouldn't have watched "GAP: The Series". I honestly didn't associate Asians w/ queer culture; I only checked it out bc YT kept recommending it to me & I was desperate for something Sapphic to watch; after all, relative to Gen Q, how much worse could it be? As it turned out, GAP is my favorite lesbian love story of all time. FWIW, 1MM is the ladies auxiliary to the patriarchal, theocratic, rabidly anti-LGBT American Family Association, & they don't have close to 1 million members. Their screeds are essentially eyeroll candy. 🙄
