One important feature I neglected to mention with these Haida ND filters is because of their slim frame, you can use two in tandem. That means you can actually get 16 stops of ND when you combine the 1.8 and 3.0 together! That would come in real handy for doing long exposures in the middle of the day. I just tried two filters combined on my Z7 with the 14-30mm Z lens and even at 14mm I wasn’t getting any clipping or vignetting in the corners 🤙📸

Two together? That means you get way more options for the price of only 3. What a bonus!

thanks for the video mate. A good option to be able to combine filters, and very handy for many shooters. There would be a degrading of image quality from any filters you put in front of a lens, that's just a known fact, but to most prob not even noticeable.

You are the filter master and the perfect KZbinr to demonstrate how filters work. I have never really invested in a good "set" of filters, my filters are made by various manufacturers. Heather bought me a case that looks just about exactly like that one to carry my filters. 77mm 10 Stop, 3 Stop, CPL, and 5-Stop ND CPL combo are the filters I use most. Heather also bought me some 82mm filters for my Canon 24-70, a 3, 6, and 10 stop along with a CPL. The other day I did some mid-day 30-second photos on the Campus of the University of Tennessee. It was very sunny but I was still able to get 30 seconds using the 10 stop and f/16. I was jealous of ISO 64 from the D850 and Z7. I'm looking forward to the sunrise video! Thanks, Adrian!

Thanks for watching Phil. This Haida kit will come in so handy on longer hikes because of its compactness and light weight. The perfect combo set up for my mirrorless kit. The sunrise vid coming is simply epic! I had to make a video for that alone as I got so many shots, looking forward to showing that to everyone. That was so cool you could get 30 secs when it was sunny at that campus. Having that ISO 64 certainly does have some advantages in that aspect. Have a great week Phil and take care PS. That Kenobi series last episode was something else! 📸🙏

Thanks Adrian - I love seeing what works and doesn't for various situations. Love the idea of the case for the filters. I keep thinking one day it might be interesting to have some handy, but . . .I think what I value is that you have no hassle showing us lesser known brands that might be more in some of our budgets. Also that morning at Shorncliffe looks a goodie too. That is one video I will definitely look forward to!

Wow the photos were just super. That sunrise morning looked stellar - I can't wait to see the rest of the shots there. The colours out of the filters looked great. In that video example, the footage would be unusable without it. I love the little case, it's so cute.

Another great vid, keep’m coming. Looks like they are thinking about the photographers work flow rather than just a solution, it’s good to see.. I use Lee filters but I spent months finding a good quality poach/pack that I could hang around my neck for easy access, Lee kit is great but expensive and cumbersome, especially their polariser, but the Haider solution appears to be much more practical, the magnetic option would be even better. Kind regards, Steve
@adrianalfordphotography2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Stephen. I have used Lee filters too and they are expensive. I found these filters are just as good in my tests and I should make another video on that in a side by side comparison. This Haida kit alone is worth just one of their filters! A couple of other Haida filters I'd love to try out is their CPL and the clear night filter for astro. Have a great week and thanks again, cheers 🙏📸

Really a great hands-on video, Adrian. I didn't know that Haida also has a magnetic version of their circular filters. Looks interesting! Attaching the filter's bag to the tripod looks also really useful. I tend to put the bag into my pocket when I go into the water and this works, as well - unless I forget them :) So, great idea from Haida. Thanks a for sharing and nice greetings, Christian

Great video Adrian! Sorry for the late comment on this. Looks like a fantastic filter kit! I've recently switched to a local South Florida company called Blue Frog Filters, fantastic product as well. However, I do really like the carrying case that you have with yours! That final image at 7:03 mate is unbelievable, one of your best! What an unbelievable sky you had that morning, wow! Really enjoyed the video as always! Hope you are doing well. Have a great week down there!

Thanks for watching Paul. It's a great kit for me and what I do. I use one of those spare slots in the case for the 77mm-82mm step up ring, use it on my 24-120mm Z lens. So I'm covered for both Z lenses I carry on the mirrorless set up. Yeah that sunrise was something else. I can't wait to put that video together, but have another couple of vids I have to pump out firstly. Have a great week mate and take care over there, cheers 📸🙏

Another great video, thank you. You inspired me to shoot long exposures in the daylight, especially at the beach. I was originally using Neewer ND filters (inexpensive) and I loved the effects just did not like having to screw filters on and off. I recently purchased a set of Magnetic filters by Kase, they were expensive but really, magnetic is the way to go, easy on, easy off. Cheer, keep them coming!!

Thanks for watching Leo. Yes, I think the magnetic filters would be even better for faster switching. I do love this kit however and will put it to good use in the future. Have a great weekend, cheers 📸🙏

Hello Adrian! Great review, photos are amazing love those long exposure ones. Filters definitely bring out a more vivid color and in post process you can work with it really well. I purchased about two year ago a K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND32 ND Filter and CPL Circular Polarizing Filter 2 in 1 and to be perfectly honest I have not used it as often I as should. Seeing your blog it has made me want to try again. Thank you my friend for sharing your video with us.

Another great review, looking to slowly upgrade my Cokin filters system. Quick question....I'm looking to add a mirrorless Nikon body in the near future but keeping my D850. Many great deals on the Z7 and now that you have been utilizing that body for a few months now, do you see and advantages in going to the Z7II version for landscapes ? Thanks again for these videos, always very informative.
@adrianalfordphotography2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Tony. There are zero advantages in landscape photography when comparing Z7 to Z7II. The Z7II has eye detect in video, can be externally charged if you’re out hiking for days and can do longer timed exposures beyond 30 secs. The price difference between the 2 in my opinion can’t justfy the features above over the Z7. I love having both my Z7 and D850, I use both to their strengths. Really having fun with the Z7 in landscapes at the moment.
