As a long time houseboat dweller, I can tell you it is simply magical. Floating untethered from the ground makes for great dreams, and pretty fun reality, too. These 2 are so smart to have the best of both worlds. Houseboats are so light on the earth. They provide a nice hangout for birds (even nesting). What a beautiful place.

At what point are you too old to go up and down that ladder to get to bed? Even if you can still do it, the risks of a fall and hip injury must increase a lot more when you're doing that every day.

That is an incredible idea. People might laugh at the tiny house movement but it's gaining traction. Councils should be pushing for this themselves in towns it solves that problem of land. Perhaps not on pontoons lol but there are lots of people who don't need big houses and this one is so sweet and simple and inexpensive.
@frostylapine6 жыл бұрын
Irene Ewens but those people who don’t need big houses still have them. They have the money to buy them and they did. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes
@paulagwhyte17206 жыл бұрын
@@frostylapine It's wasteful and dumb is what's wrong with it. Using resources on our straining planet that they DON'T need to use. Killing trees and using power we don't have. Why? Who needs three bathrooms and eight bedrooms. No one. I grew up in a family of seven with one bathroom, one telephone, like most people I knew. Somehow, it worked!! We shared bedrooms. My boys shared bedrooms. Didn't kill 'em. People are so nuts now. Why not have a smaller house and donate some money to the poor. Or use money to help Habitat for the homeless or be less of a DRAIN on the planet? You know, be a tad less selfish? Not saying YOU are, I'm just saying the people who spend to the max of their ability and beyond because they're sold this bullshit idea of spending just slightly beyond their means, is BS.
@frostylapine6 жыл бұрын
Paula G Whyte Well yes I agree with you 100%. It’s extremely wasteful and all but I still don’t see anything wrong with them owning a big house. If you’ve got plenty of money, chances are you aren’t going to donate it. Most of the people who own them are raised with all that money and don’t know any better. If I were raised with millions of dollars and my family never donated or helped anyone who needed, then what are the chances that I will donate? Slim to none. But just know that I still agree with you that it’s wasteful, but I don’t see anything wrong with them owning said property.
@myself-wm8ek6 жыл бұрын
Paula G Whyte that’s pretty hypocritical of you to tell other people how to save the planet when you’ve contributed to the problem by having children. The absolute worst thing you can do for the planet is have children. More humans = more drain on the planets resources, more waste etc. I think you should take a look at what you’ve done before condemning random strangers on the internet whom you’ve never met. Also, I will not be giving up the 3 bed house I share with my 2 cats to move into something smaller (and likely more expensive) to donate to the “poor”. The only poor people in my country are the ones who have made stupid decisions, like excessive spending, doing drugs or choosing not to work. No way would I want to give my hard earned cash to these underserving fuckwits. You’re a moron.

You could just use the height and put it to lengthen the width of the house and make a bed room at the back. The kitchen could be made opposite the bathroom and you could make a bathroom where the whole room is a bath. (Sorry if it sounds confusing)

Try to contact the two brothers who have the channel 'relax shacks' by 'Deek Diedreksen?' He wrote a book and has popular annual festivals on 'how to build your own.' Look for stores that give away or sell at low cost, housing items, for example: President Jimmy Carter started, 'Habitat for Humanity' and they have stores all over America. Look at the web sites for Urban Ore in Oakland, and Berkeley, California, USA. Oakland has a store that sells used kitchen stainless steel counters, etc. No matter how good the food, it is difficult for restaurants to make enough profit to stay in business. Probably similar stores in all cities. Try to get the local religious and city government to help out in recycling these items, instead of sending them to the landfill. Every city Food Bank, should work together with local recyclers to help make this happen. Look up the company 'Arched Cabins' and see if they can help you find a special deal. Maybe a volunteer or work exchange. Good Luck in your goals. August 16, 2018

Take Chances by Caitlin Johnstone Take chances, my love. Take the plunge into the unknown. Take a chance on love, on art, on speaking out, on shining bright, on quitting something old, on creating something new, on following your passion, on your crazy idea. Take chances. At this point, what the hell have you got to lose? The earth is turning into a fireball because day after day after day after day, people played it safe and kept acting out the same old predictable patterns again and again and again. The old patterns have failed, my love. The old ways of doing things have failed as spectacularly as anything could possibly fail. We stand now on a dying planet staring our own extinction in the face, and we're afraid to take chances because, what? Something could go wrong? It's already gone wrong, my love! It's gone as wrong as it could possibly go! So take chances. If there is any hope of pulling up and away from the numerous disasters looming on our horizon, it isn't going to come from following our old patterns. It isn't going to come from the same tired old spinning wheels which brought us to this point. It's going to have to come from the unfamiliar. The unknown. The unknowable. The unpredictable. It's going to have to come from so far outside our old patterns that it will astonish everyone when it arrives. Be courageous. Fear will come, because fear always comes with any leap into the unknown, but be courageous enough to feel that fear fully, all the way through, and keep moving. Move confidently in the certainty that you are doing something truly heroic, because if anything is going to save us, it will necessarily involve a radical shift outside of the familiar pathways which brought us to this point. You are a hero. Be certain of it. You already have some idea what I'm talking about here. If you don't, sit with it a bit; it'll come. Those doors you've wanted to open but you haven't because of fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of instability, fear of uncertainty, fear of fear. Start there. Start there, but (and here is where a lot of people go wrong) don't bring your old patterns to your leap into the new. Don't put new wine in old wineskins. Be courageous not just with your actions, but with your thinking and perceiving. Allow unprecedented ideas to come in from outside your old repetitive thought loops, allowing you to improvise an approach to opening your new doors in a way that suits your new trajectory instead of your old one. Be courageous enough to relinquish old thinking patterns and allow inspiration to bubble up from completely unanticipated directions, undaunted by its unfamiliarity. Be courageous enough to bring unconscious conditioned defense strategies and childhood fears into consciousness, so that you can stop being a slave to them. Follow your inspired desire. Not desire for the gratification of indulging an old conditioned pattern, not the desires you think you ought to have, not desires you may have had once but don't anymore, not a mental image, but the deep, felt desire for a step in the direction of freedom, expansiveness, aliveness and exuberance. Let your inspired desire siren you into whatever new form you need to take to move through the next new door. Let it pull you out of your old patterns and into a humble, responsive relationship with a new way of being that you know you do not understand. Be playful. We didn't get here for want of trying, we got here because we tried too hard. We overthought it; we used our tiny tinker brains instead of allowing the whole wisdom of our being to guide us. When you think in circles, the fresh new ground you seek will not be found by more thinking. Feel your way around with your guts, your heart, your imagination. Let life unfold like a treasure hunt with clues hidden behind every smile. Greet people with fresh eyes and an open heart like Alice, curious about what they have to offer you and what you have to give them. Be open to beauty. Let it guide you. Be gentle with yourself. You have tried so hard my love, turning the same old wheels over and over again, and it's taken its toll. Give yourself a little pat on the heart and say to yourself, "There, there." Replace self-punishment with self-nourishment and your patterns will disappear. Nurture your soul. Mother yourself. You are every bit as deserving of love as those that you love so intensely. Love yourself like you are your own beloved and dissolve the patterns created by self-punishment. This is how you save the world, my love. Every step you take into the light and away from humanity's ancient patterns is a step away from extinction and toward utopia. We are all interconnected, so taking leaps into the unknown will bring the unknown into the world. The gaps you leave where your old patterns used to be are gaps through which potentiality can now pour into the entirety of our species. People in your life who are accustomed to their old patterns, and to having your old patterns to bounce them off of, may find this disappearance distressing. Their distress is an attachment to the familiar. Be compassionate toward it, but also be aware that it is what's going to get us all killed. Take chances. The gift of our impending annihilation is that there's no longer anywhere left to fall to, no longer anything left to lose. This is it. We've taken the old ways as far as they can go, and now we will evolve, or we will die. Evolution means change. Change means a movement away from the old ways. That movement starts with you. Take chances. _________________________

Even The New England Journal Of Medicine Admits The Futility Of Wearing Face Masks To Protect Against COVID-19 Coronavirus. What is desperately needed are valium-laced face masks with drug-laced inserts to facilitate the continued aerosol delivery of anti-anxiety medications directly into the lungs. Public anxiety over a contrived threat from a mutated coronavirus has the masses acting like frightened sheep. You mean face masks aren’t going to protect me from getting the dreaded COVID-19 coronavirus? Answer: They are not. You mean face masks don’t really keep me from spreading the infection to others? Answer: No. Here are direct quotes from The New England Journal of Medicine April 1, 2020 report on universal face masking to protect against transmission of the COVID-19 Coronavirus: “We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection… “The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is… minimal…. “…During the care of a patient with unrecognized Covid-19…. A mask alone in this setting will reduce risk only slightly, however, since it does not provide protection from droplets that may enter the eyes or from fomites on the patient or in the environment that providers may pick up on their hands and carry to their mucous membranes (particularly given the concern that mask wearers may have an increased tendency to touch their faces)….. “…Universal masking alone is not a panacea…. “The extent of marginal benefit of universal masking over and above these foundational measures is debatable…. “Expanded masking protocols’ greatest contribution may be to reduce the transmission of anxiety.” In fact, by wearing masks you may be delaying others from developing memory antibodies for long-lasting protection against viral infection so our society can return to normal. Predicted food shortages from fearful employees not showing up for work and closure of restaurants reducing demand for foodstuffs, resulting in tons of food being thrown away, could be more of a threat to human life than the virus. Modern medicine has issued absurd directives in failed efforts to control spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. But will the mindless masses ever catch on? People wearing face masks while walking alone on the sidewalk or while driving an automobile alone have become examples of mindless stupidity. With no one within a dozen feet, the ignorant masses wear face masks. The news media makes it appear face masks are mandatory (by law), but unless some law has been passed in a State legislature, it is only a guideline. Health authorities now concede that mandated measures to halt the spread of this mutated virus are only to provide peace of mind - face masks are only an anxiety reliever. Short of mass valium or xanax prescriptions for all, face masks will do. But just imagine if there is a shortage of face masks? What will the masses then do? Disinfection of grocery store carts is also useless. The CDC issued a belated bulletin the COVID-19 virus is not spread by contact with contaminated surfaces. Viruses aren’t even alive. You can’t kill them like you can bacteria. They only replicate once inside a living cell in your body. What is required for transmission of the virus from another infected person is very close proximity to facilitate airborne transmission from infected to uninfected lung. And even then, in healthy people, infection should activate antibodies and memory T-cells to produce long-lasting immunity. Until this happens, the public is a sitting duck for a virus that often doesn’t produce any symptoms. Hmmm… What tips off that modern medicine is pulling the wool over the public’s eyes is that tuberculosis, another lung infection with similar symptoms to COVID-19 coronavirus, is a far greater threat to life, yet modern medicine has never recommended face masks to prevent its spread. There is a hidden agenda. There are 13 million potential spreaders of TB walking around America with latent (dormant) TB in their lungs that could erupt and infect others should their immune system crash, like after being indoors in a lockdown and deprived of sunshine vitamin D. TB infects 2 billion people on the planet and kills 1.3 million a year. And COVID-19 is far less transmissible than measles, smallpox and polio. By age group, COVID-19 is only considered lethal in 80+ year olds. There is no evidence that COVID-19 coronavirus independently kills. It may just be a by-stander virus. Countries that have a 90+% rate of mask wearing do not report any significant decline in COVID-19-related deaths. The public health department goons are everywhere, closing down American businesses to the point of ruination. Restaurants are where Americans spend birthdays, anniversaries and holidays enjoying American life. It is no wonder anxiety may develop over time. It appears any public health directive short of asking the American public to stick their head in the toilet will be complied with. By Bill Sardi July 17, 2020

@@p.brooksmcginnis1749 Wonder how many see this comment tucked away on your (mini) thread but whole heartedly agree with you/Bill Sardi. This Covid nonsense is a PLANdemic and the 'vaccine' is nothing of the sort. Not the place to discuss these issues further but yes, amazing how quickly the world population have been so duped and mind controlled. I find those who are 'awake' to the real agenda watch little or no TV which seems fairly common among 'Tiny House' dwellers.

Beautiful! I love the floating tiny house concept. I’m still a little unclear as to why they put it on the water. Was it to get around building code restrictions?

They said it was to get around council restrictions.

Ever since I was a kid I loved sleeping in selfbuilt caves out of matresses and pillows and whatever. I loved most of these houses so far and they tend to have an upstairs bed for convenience sake and that's honestly my main selling point on most of them, getting that feeling back of sleeping in a closed, cozy place is bliss to me

It's cool when people rediscover the child in them and reconnect with what really matters to them and not what their surrounding environment expects of them. Happiness and peace of mind are only accomplished through living a life one is about passionate. Without true passion there's no true satisfaction, only superficial one.
