@@Ranch-girl Well at the end of the day it's all about GOD's blessings. People have been eating meat, dairy, eggs and fish since Biblical times. I choose to be plant based for my health. I truly believe plant based is the best diet. But some people are just blessed with good genes. Watch the short documentary video Richard Overton on KZbin. He was a World War 2 veteran who died at 112 or 113 years old. In the documentary he is about 109 years old. He was still able to drive his car. Besides that he smoked cigars, ate ice cream, drank whiskey, and ate canned soup everyday. He was a man of faith and expressed his faith in the documentary. And he was also in phenomenal shape. He had no fat on him. He was just blessed by GOD with good genes. Comedy legend Mel Brooks is 96 and still eats Reuben beef sandwiches. I don't know if you believe in GOD but I would say eat with wisdom and faith. Pray over your food and eat with faith. Meaning what ever food you eat will hopefully not give you cancer or a heart attack. But have wisdom, if the foods are known to cause cancer and stroke be mindful and don't eat it. @@annarinamom5922 There's a huge misconcern about portion. The truth is portion was never the problem. You should eat until satiated. The main problems are: What you eat, and how you combine your meal. The calories that come from natural organic red meat IS NEVER the same as the one that come from a pack of Oreo, for example. Your body is designed to process natural fats, especially from animals, because we are an animal species at the end, and our body is made of saturated fat, especially the brain. Speaking of statistics, When you do a reserach study, there is NO WAY whatsoever, you'll be able to get accurate results. Some “spikes” are normal and natural (if not too high). The problem is insulin resistance - the glucose stays in the blood and can’t make its way into the cells where we can use it for energy. I’m so confused!! I’ve actually been low carb for several years and with this type of information I can’t help but worry about my health. However, the keto followers claim the exact same outcomes and concerns if they eat veggies, especially starchy veggies. How can I know since the science has sources going both ways. I am 63 and healthy but heart problems and diabetes are rampant in my family and I am concerned. Please advise. Thank you so much!!

For most experts its belived the ultra processed foods are damaging . Now a carnivor diet does not feed the microbiom which is peoblematic . Fiber type food is needed for that

Cancer is a metabolic disease: cancer needs glucose to thrive. Diabetes is probably the number one factor contributing to disease such as cancer and heart disease, and it has been tied to various mental health diseases such as Alzheimer's. The risk is highest for liver, pancreatic, colorectal, endometrial, breast and bladder cancer. Your statements re meat causing diabetes and cancer are really questionable. But we should first understand diabetes, the number one contributor. In late 50s, overweight and prediabetic I went on a low carb diet with lots of meat. Lost 50lbs and prediabetes completely gone in 3 months. When you eat meat with animal fat and reduce carbohydrates, one goes into ketosis which is exceptionally good for ones health, and the pounds just melt away like the butter I eat. A low carb, high fat and animal meat diet has been used to treat people with type 1 diabetes since the late 1700s - to claim it causes diabetes contradicts 100s of years of medical reality. Animal fat has no insulin response, protein only a small insulin response, while sugars, alcohol, and carbohydrates which are massively present in grains, vegetables and fruit require a large insulin response. The insulin response is required to lower your blood glucose level, otherwise the glucose will kill you. The yoyo insulin response causes insulin resistance, which if untreated by lowering your carbohydrate in take will likely lead to type 2 diabetes. Most fruit are just sugar bombs. Starchy vegetables and grain products are just groups of sugars. So you are telling everyone that eating many foods that readily turn to sugar (glucose) and triggers an insulin response in your blood is good? The American food guide states the minimum daily required intake of carbohydrates is zero - so clearly carbohydrates are not required for humans to live. You should look up the storey of artic explorer stephansson who adopted an Inuit diet and then spent one year in a new York hospital eating only meat so they could observe his condition. Of course his health after this period was excellent. The Inuit had extremely low incidence of diabetes and cancer, until they recently adopted the agrarian lifestyle of eatin more grains, fruits and vegetables and now they have one of the highest rates of these diseases. Fibre is a waste material for humans; humans cannot process fibre and as a result it has zero nutritional value to humans, and why it comes out of our back end. Are you telling everyone that humans evolved to eat a waste product that provides zero nutritional value ? People who eat a strict vegetarian or vegan diet are less likely to eat a lot of processed food, and positive outcomes are largely a result of not eating processed foods which are stuffed full of sugar, used to replace the fat that used to be in our foods but is now removed, and processed seed oils. Both sugar and seed oils are plant based products. These studies always conflate having a diet high in processed food e.g. fast food, as high in meat. There is a small meat patty in amongst the 70% of vegetable based processed food, buns, katchup, fries, soda pop. How are the plants and fibre containing cookies, chips, crackers, cakes and desserts doing for people's health ? These are 100% plant based! Industrial processed meat is also stuffed with sugars and preserved with seed oil. Those of us who eat low carb, eat a proper human diet with whole animal products, not processed foods which are the real culprit. Again, cancer requires glucose to thrive, and the most glucose in the blood stream comes from a diet high in sugar, natural or otherwise, and carbohydrates (which are metabolised to glucose), or turn into fat if not used up for energy!

you'd think that troll comment was a troll comment, but I agree - there's so much confusion being put out there by quick money grabbers - that people start thinking in off directions. That's why this podcast really is super helpful - because there's so much content to work with for veganism - honestly - this show will never have a shortage of topics!!! I love when chuck brings forth my questions for answers and wading through the uncertainties of it, and many others. I think we all get bombarded by so much on a daily basis - I do a lot of vegan databases to set the record straight, but it's so much because I try to do auxiliary, supplementary work of what PCRM brings forth and goes as far as possible with. That more is needed to be done to relay info to others. So PCRM gives me a really solid either end point or starting point, and from that - I build out everything associated with a topic that someone would need and use. I have been giving that info out to people, but even with all of that - there's still so much more to be done. For every one of these people that come on this show - I meet on the internet tons more, and way worse too. So I keep working with them day after day - we all have a hand to play in relaying the message in our own way :) I believe as a team - we all do a really good job of it too! We might not get to everyone - but that's because this new info is just starting with us. There's the rest of the world that has yet to catch up! I had to, and now others are too. It's like a puzzle game - a maze game in a way - it's kind of fun. One day - I, among others, would like to create such a video game - but I realize it's hard work and I have so many other projecs that I'm working on right now - that it's too far off to even think about. But each database that I build brings me a step closer there. One day matybe people will get it - and info will reach everyone - it's that today - it's weird new info. But in the future - normalized!

How its prepared is important. Meats are a good source of protein, iron, zinc, and B vitamins, which can help with muscle growth, red blood cell production, and testosterone production. I don't eat out- you don't know what you are eating. A low carb diet has kept me from developing diabetes for decades now.

You should interview Professor Thomas Seyfried who has shown that tumor cells need glucose for energy whereas normal cells can use glucose as well as ketones for energy. So when the glucose supply is cut off the tumor cells can starve. This is done by a keto diet where fats comprise around 70% by calories. This forces the body to switch to ketones as the metabolite of fats. You can see his interviews on youtube but you should do an interview with him also.
