I recently upgraded from an i7 4790k to Ryzen 5 3600. I got it for only $30 along with an amd wraith prism cooler. Then, for $100, i bought an atx b550 mobo. I bought $40 32GB DDR4 3200MHZ, and a $30 pcie 4.0 nvme m.2 ssd for boot. I also upgraded my gpu from gtx 1660 6gb to an MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 3060 12gb for $180. So the pc you used in this video fits well for me. Big upgrade, I tested VR on it and it's night and day difference in performance!

For a while I used my old CV1 with an extra CV1 touch controller as a tracked object (totaling 3 controllers, each being AA battery powered with multi-day battery life) and had near vive tracker accurate full body. CV1s are pretty cheap, and the possibility of getting controllers with worn-out/broken sticks for next to nothing, just for the sake of their tracking ability, is quite a nice second wind of life for old hardware like it. The only problems I can think of are that you need to run a separate headset independent of the Oculus PC app (either streamed using something like virtual desktop or a native SteamVR headset), the CPU horsepower to run the several pieces of software simultaneously (Oculus PC app, Driver4VR or the GitHub equivalent software, wireless streamer software for any wireless headset and SteamVR), and at least 4 spare USB slots for the CV1 and 3 cameras (it barely can work with 2, but 3 covers your bases). Since I had it lying around when I upgraded headsets, it was a pretty solid solution for me. Here's hoping that more cheap tracking hardware trickles down from the top, or maybe some second-wind use for any older VR-tracked hardware out there.
@modranklob5085 Жыл бұрын
Hey that's exactly what I use! Except that I only have 2 cameras and 2 controllers, I use the entire whole headset as a chest tracker which is incredibly funny to look at, but also oddly accurate and somewhat comfortable, of course I'll run into the issue of having yet another extra cable on my body, but since this is my only option, it does the trick *very* well, and it's not as bad as it sounds when you get used to it! I seriously do want to get another extra sensor and a 3rd controller instead of using the headset itself, but sadly they don't sell those in my country, so the odds of me getting my hands on them is very very rare, but it is something I want!

in my personal opinion i would go for a quest 2 as the system you using is capable of hitting 45 frames most of the time so with asychronos warp you can make it feel like 90 and with the quest 3 on the horizon you might be able to find some cheaper ones for a more perfectly balanced system.

I started off with a quest. And I fell in love with vr. I got a very very cheap prebuilt pc from my friend for 90 bucks that had a Ryzen 1600, a Radeon 570, and 16 gigs of t force ram. It was playable in my opinion I used my brothers valve index and it was pretty nice but recently I’ve been craving more like full body tracking and better graphics. Recently I got a better gpu which is a Gtx 1070 I got for 50 bucks at a pawn shop 😭 and I also got a valve index of my own for 500!! Almost brand new but used from someone. So now I can get easy 60 frames on vr chat with a valve index for only 650. I found out I have the ability to do the full body tracking project you did with psvr.

Just to add up, the second best tracking solution besides vive would be NoloVR , it uses the same exact tracking techology but only has 1 basestation so it's limited to 180 degree tracking, this can be improved with a custom firmware for ceiling mode, it can be found for around same price as Slime or Ps eye solution.

Interesting. Im not currently interested in making a VR specific setup but this did tell me that if I ever do want to upgrade, going for a better graphics card would give me better frames in VR Chat. I currently have 8GB of Vram and im actually fine. I can stand to get a bit framey, Vritual Desktop is great with its "space warp" stuff so I only have to render half the frames.

quacking KNEW IT, fast storage and high v-ram are what vrc benefits the most, ofc having a raw performance is great overall, if you're planing to "main" vrc, thats the way to go. on a side note. i have been wanting to build this machine whatever money "hops in" my pocket r5 5600g and its vega 7 graphics (at first, so i can put my beloved uhd 620 along side my current i5 8250u to rest) b550m motherboard 2x8GB ddr4 500gb m.2 600w power-supply 80 plus bronze full tower with 3~4 fans (mash front) and last but no least, the mentioned... 3060ti '°³° but hey i'm aiming for the 12gb triple fan from msi headset wise, quest 2, no doubt, prices for imported ones like pico 4 / 4 pro, where i live are basically double the listed price (not to mention the currency conversion you need to do first before doubling it { cries in Brazilian } ) FBT tracking... isn't on my plans, for now, but likely an IMU based system, specially given that by the time i get all the base vr stuff, solutions like axis will be way more refined, hopefully ;p now given the mentioned country, time to do the old reliable, sorgy for any atrocities above, engrish is not my native language ( ouo)b

@Cai_VR Жыл бұрын
Seems like they have potential, but they are really expensive compared to other options. And there's also the latency if you're using them native with the app. Quality product, but not exactly suited towards VR. Unless more significant updates are made to the software to optimise it.
