Hi! Ignore my barren KZbin account- I actually work for this species & got this video on my recommended! I'm gonna go through as I watch & answer some of the questions brought up, as well as anymore questions you have afterwards :^) Also- for the comments below about "offbrands"- we don't care! Our species isn't an entirely unique concept or anything, we don't own terrarium-head anthro or anything. We only care if you try to sell it to people as a Terralien, because it's false advertising & pretty scammy if someone thinks they're getting one that we made. 1. We are pretty Discord heavy right now, but we're working on moving to more site based stuff, it's just a lot of Troubleshooting! We only started April of last year so our site isn't too fancy. We want to make them accessible through the site as opposed to just Discord. We're reformatting layouts and guides as we speak- a lot of the old ones are only on Discord. 2. Base Value is determined based off if someone paid for the character or not, IE if they commissioned someone to draw it. So if you paid 50$ for an artist to draw your character, it's resale value is 50$. You can add on with added art and stuff, and also the staff-made adopts have value too. 3. We have limitations in place to prevent our species from coming too close to being a Protogen/Primagen! I also don't believe the Proto/Prima's designs are copyright, so they couldn't really sue there fhshfshfh. We also don't sell our MYOs for USD- only currency you get from foraging or doing events, we only sell customs & premade adopts. 4. We have Synthetic Terras that can have screen faces, they can't have eyes/mouths to prevent getting too close to Proto/Primas. There's one or two old ones that have both, but if the person decides to redesign them, it'd need to be removed. We don't force redesigns though. 5. Forgot to comment earlier, but traits have no USD value. You can only get them through our items, so they have no USD value, which is why ones with less traits sometimes have higher value. 6. It's just the thing in their head, because lore wise it's that whatever "critter" is inside there is their lifeforce. Manmade/nonliving things aren't alive, which is why they're limited. Not sure if you get to this later, but there's a trait wiki as well. 7. Never heard of this other species hahaha, they're not related to us. 8. We don't give them out really, you get them with our currency (only through discord ATM unfortunately). We're working on that though!! 9. You can "voucher" them for offhand USD if there's no value, which is a whole system I don't have time to explain but you don't actually get money. If you paid for the design though, you can buy them for USD if someone's selling. 10. We're very very beginner friendly! The ones you see at the front of the Toyhouse page are just ones by popular artists, which is why the super detailed "high quality" ones are showing. You can see through our ML & server we have a bunch of beginners! 11. Our owners are @temul and @avilusol! 12. Very fair point about it being hard to find info, this is stuff we really like to hear from outside POVs so that we can better adjust things. 13. @@starlightsoiree It's not value-less, we let people voucher them for up to 50$. This is commonplace in all closed species. You are not paying to make that design - just using your time , so it does not get a value added. We understand that it takes time though - which is valuable, which is why we allow vouchers for 50$ without any added art from other users. But if someone paid 200$ for a commission, that's real money they are paying an artist .. so it's only fair they can resell it for that much. This is just how things work in closed species, including for staff. It's not demeaning whatsoever, and is clearly outlined in terms of service before signing up.

In regards to the portion of the video tackling the worth of a character, deciding whether a less rare character is $50 vs a rarer character being worth $0, it has absolutely nothing to do with the rarity of the character. The first two characters shown were more than likely obtained for virtual currency, or via a raffle/event in which these MYOs/characters were given for free, versus the $50 character, which was likely obtained through purchasing an adopt, or purchasing an MYO slot, which would have base value.

Genuinely, as someone who's modded a closed species before, people generally don't care as long as you don't claim it to be part of the species. Most people in closed species communities work on an honour system and trust that people won't make "fake" or unofficial characters and refer to it as that species. In fact, I've seen a lot of people who encounter "fake" species charas try to help the person upload it and make it official. It's really about the community.

Hey there! I know this is probably a bit late, but honestly, here's my take: your characters and species are YOUR intellectual property; you can tell people what boundaries you have because the species is YOUR copyright. If people take issue, that's their problem. Others are not entitled to your art or species if it breaks personal boundaries you don't want crossed. Feel free to do whatever you want and close off what you wish! Hope this helped to give a different and helpful perspective :)

@ yeah the website it still pretty hard to navigate but I believe there is a way to get a myo and character completely without discord. If you do a prompt each month you should be able to get a myo in a few months and then buy items from shops or get them from foraging (which is every 12 hours)

sware most of these cs are just driven from chams, by people who are in the community and once were. Tea beetles look like they were just a species made from one specific cham ( I obviously don't have proof other then I used to own this cham and kind of find it sus how close they came out to be). Same lay out, same style nothing new from copy species. You want some really beautifully diverse fantasy species? Then check out Terrly Whitlach who designed creatures for Starwars ect. If people want to have communities, rules and so on with their "closed species" then go for it. That doesn't mean other artist can't make there own creatures and have fun as well. Kind of what's going on with all these spin off species these days. Just go about it in a healthy way and don't hurt anyone or yourself. Glad someone is talking about cs though still as I don't see many videos explaining drama and other nonsense from these communities.

Not really, with closed species (or adoptables as a whole, because closed species are a subgenere of adoptables) you get actual unique art someone has put a lot of time and effort into and you usually get full rights to do most anything you want with the character. Plus, their value isn’t tied to a volatile crypto currency and their creation doesn’t use the same amount of energy as a small country. Like, I think closed species are still kinda dumb, but they’re in no way equivalent to NFTs.
