Hey everyone! Today I am checking out a NEW engineering sandbox game called Plasma! I am extremely excited about this one because I've missed building engineering creations and this game has such amazing potential! For my first look at Plasma I decided to build a multifunctional truck that has a working exhaust, turn signals, reverse lights, brake lights, headlights, active suspension, AND a 3rd person view for driving it! This took quite a bit of time and programming all the functions but I am VERY satisfied with the final result. Programming is like putting a cube in the square box, and putting the triangle prism into the triangle hole. So if you want to give text a color, you dont put that value into the text slot, you put it into the color slot. Its all about understanding what are the two things your trying to plug together

You put the cube into the square hole. You put the triangular prism into the square hole. You put the half cylinder into, that's right, the square hole. Finally the arch also goes into the square hole.

Can't wait to try the Demo out :D Really want to screw with different things and make working mirrors, a folding display for your third person view by the push of a button Maybe a following display drone, if I can manage it somehow. I saw some vector position coords in the sketches if I remember correctly so I remain hopeful.

for braking, you couold try taking the forwards velocity, multiplying it by -1 and feeding that value to the engines whenever you press the brake

If you wanted to take a bit more time pairing a drone with the truck for a more floaty 3rd person. Have it fly in front when you drive backwards ect. Just a thought

This is giving me Main Assembly feels. Loved that game and it's programming. They were on the right track, but couldn't quite get there before they ended development. I had lots of hours in that one. For this game, sandbox alone can be pretty boring so hopefully multiplayer is on the horizon.

I was thinking you can maybe make a drone with a camera that follows you as a third person view but the camera quality isn't that great apparently or maybe make it so when you turn on the third person view screen an arm goes out to the spot for this view and when it's off it retracks :) I don't know but it sounds good :)

Whether you write the program in a programming language, by connecting nodes to each other or even by punching holes in a card, you're still programming something. Visual scripting might not be coding, but it's a completely valid form of programming. You wouldn't tell a game developer who creates visual scripts in unreal or unity, that they aren't a real programmer, when they are literally programming a game.
