I've never mentioned you to my friends before, because they aren't the type to watch gameplay videos, but in a car ride across town the other day my friend criticised the road layouts (specifically a little island with two reflective light things, just to house a single lamppost) before blaming it on "the bloody architects". Your power is spreading. Also, I hope he sees this comment. Hi!

On the being destroyed by a car accident thing.... Another gamin youtuber, CallMeKevin, often jokes around about the fact that he was hit by a car while exitin the cinema after watchin Batman vs Superman (so, it was the 2nd worst part of his day :P). Ofc, it forced him to have to sell his gaming store and left him with minimal ability to raise his arms above his head; and ofc the person who hit him ended up gettin off scot free >.> But i mean, it also got him to restart his gamin channel and he has like almost 3 million subscribers now, heh.

Helpful fact of the day: "Abriss" is german for "Demolition" or "Teardown" and it's more pronounced like "Ab - riss".
@Friendly_Neighborhood_Dozer2 жыл бұрын
Yea, that’s the best possible way to tell native English speakers how to pronounce it. They just can’t pronounce the German R . I think it’s super funny and just adds another point where they can butcher words

German Teardown looks a lot different from the English Teardown. Weird that theyd change a game so much just for German speakers :P
@SylviaRustyFae2 жыл бұрын
@@Friendly_Neighborhood_Dozer The r thing is a rather common one for English speakers bcuz it seems a lot of different languages have slightly different ideas of what r is (and to a lesser extent d and L) Honestly tho if anything the letters that English spkers cant pronounce the most are German words with umlauts bcuz they arent the same as how non-Germanic languages treat those two dots and is much more like adding another vowel into the word... to such an extent that that is how words with umlauts in them are spelled for web domains that cant support umlauts; at least when those sites are made by/for Germans, bcuz those same sites English equivalent websites often dont change the spelling bcuz if they did then the English spkers wud have no idea how the umlaut havin word is spelled when you cant put the umlaut dots above it.
@Friendly_Neighborhood_Dozer2 жыл бұрын
@@SylviaRustyFae I didn’t know about the website thing. I knew the rest of your comment because I’m a German myself (and I’m guessing you as well since you’re that informed, tell me why you know it if you aren’t), but it might be interesting for English people that don’t know that. (Ngl, I really wanna hear an English speaker to try to pronounce “Umlaut” rn. Just to laugh about and to know how much he butchers it)
@SylviaRustyFae2 жыл бұрын
@@Friendly_Neighborhood_Dozer I watch Rewboss and am otherwise just a lover of learning about languages. Tho my last name is also of Germanic origin and has an umlaut in it, so i kinda felt a need to at least be able to properly pronounce it (even if no one else does)... But I chose my name entirely cuz i hated every part of the name my shit biofam tried to give me. I did however choose an Irish middle name and German last name to at least aknowledge the main roots of my biofam; Dubh (Pronounced as Doov, or like a dozen similar slightly diff ways; Gaelic has way too many differing ways of pronouncing words that are all considered correct still) and Söldner, which combined mean Black Mercenary and refer to a LARP mercenary fighting company where i found my chosen family, Black Company. Im fairly certain English spkers wud also pronounce "Umlaut" as Oom-Latt, which yeah... I just question if they even saw there was a second u in the word. But I was told in language classes growin up that i have a rly good ear for pronunciations and mimicking accents when it comes to foreign languages, at least compared to most Americans. Honestly i think the issue there is just that most folks tend to just dont even listen to native spkers of a language to try to hear those differences and just go mostly off of what theyve read without rly tryin to listen and actually understand why the words sound like how they do.

It's pronounced "Ab-riss" (you said A-briss) as it is a compound of the words "ab" (from/off/down) and "Riss" (tear/crack). As others have already mentioned, Abriss means demolition or teardown
@davidmartin54832 жыл бұрын
Abriss is the german word for demolition. And the ab in abriss than sounds more closely to up. So to say upriss would not be that far off and the r I think is a bit more sharper.
