Info for T90: Teuton Scout beats gurjara Hussar: Scout: 5+4 Attack vs 3 melee armor = 6 damage = 16 hits vs 95 hp Hussar. Hussar: 7+2 Attack vs 5 melee armor = 4 damage = 17 hits vs 65 hp Scout. Also Teuton scouts take just 1 damage from chakram throwers. These where actually the perfect unit here

47:44 The volley gets deviated right as the TC goes up. Coincidence? I think not.
@dirkbasson9349Ай бұрын
Definitely a coding bug related to the TC going up. The position of the treb balls are likely updated according to some dx, dy, dz values, with z being the height. Thus dz has to be updated dynamically, because gravity keeps changing dz. When the TC went up there was some sort of state change that caused dz to be set statically to 0, so the height no longer changes. The one that missed was unaffected because its landing spot was not affected by the state change. Thus I would assume the other two were affected exactly because they were going to hit. Interesting...

795 total vill. kills in a 1v1, that's kind of mind-blowing. Such a close game, it was really cool that they both hit 1,000 total kills in the same moment and the k/d was still super close at the end. GG WP, both players became one with the chaos 11

These long back and forth games are the perfect setting for interesting side stories. Imagine tracing the life of a longer-lived villager in their eco, surviving constant raids, building side-TCs, evacuating across sections of the map. I'd love to see videos or youtube shorts like that when it comes to these games.

The thing is Indians did not have hussars. Hussars are a purely European type of light cavalry unit first used by Hungary in the 1400's. It still bothers me that Age of Empires completely ignores some historical facts. I mean I can look over the fact that every base unit looks the same, because back in the day Age of Empires had to fit into a CD. So having different textures for every nation's base unit would have meant at least 2-3 CDs worth of data. Also retexturing every unit would've takem a lot of time. However now we are in 2024, so retexturing and storage space is not really an issue anymore and Age of Empires is clearly successful. So money couldn't be an issue, clearly. Yet they still took the iconic European light cavalry unit and gave it to almost every nation. Couldn't at least Asian and African nations get a differen't light cavalry upgrade with distinctive textures? Stats could remain the same and at least you wouldn't have to do different light cavalry for every nation, just for every continent. Native Americans doesn't get cavalry units anyway, so that's 2 retextures and renamings. 4 at max if you want to differentiate the far East and the Northern nations light cavalry as well. I know that this will probably not happen and a lot of people just don't care, but still it would be such a great thing. I mean they already have camel units, so it wouldn't be a big stretch to do it.

Teutons are just a hard civ to pull off on open maps late game. You pretty much have to slow castle push or somehow afford paladin or SO for a big power spike to win - neither of which are viable in most 1v1s. Last 1v1 I played as Teutons I was in such a commanding position going into imp but got raided to death while I held a castle on a hill in the middle for 30 minutes.

It's so crazy to me as a StarCraft player that AoE maps are randomly generated. I find it adds nothing except potential game-ruining bugs. This goes double for tournament maps.
@tdwl4497Ай бұрын
I've never played StarCraft but I don't think fixed maps would work in aoe, scouting would loose all meaning... Well maybe not all, you'd still need to scout to see what your enemy's up to, but you'd know the location of all resources. And maps are rarely too unbalanced, even in this case with the unbalanced wood lines the disadvantaged player won. It's also more fun this way.
@paulk5670Ай бұрын
I feel that it's an integral part of the game to have to scout and play against the map, not just your opponent. Makes it feel more strategic than just tactical. Yes there's a cost where things may be bugged or unfair, but scripts generally work quite well and high-level tourneys have arbiters that can reset things if there's an outright glitch.
@michaelcallistoАй бұрын
Scouting is still an extremely important part of StarCraft, and you'll never lose a game just because you missed your boar or gold by 1 pixel. On the plus side, pros can spend days and weeks working out really cool advanced strategies for every map and spawn location which really pushes the metagame forward.
@greoge1381Ай бұрын
I think AOE really needs generated maps because 1. having 4 resources means that having them perfectly placed in some arrangement would look super odd 2. AOE is trying to have a wilderness-y vibe and it would feel extremely unnatural to have all the resources always in the same spot
@eagle653Ай бұрын
@@michaelcallisto On the minus side, a lot of games end up playing out very similarly as players figure out the metagame. And often that causes balance problems/complaints as one faction comes to dominate a particular matchup on a particular map. Random maps (plus the large number of civs) add a whole new skill of adapting to the map/matchup in front of you and dealing with situations you've never encountered before in real time. It's a different skill to the finely tuned, highly practiced micro of starcraft, and neither is necessarily better or worse - both have their merits and can make for compelling gameplay in their own way.
